I hate Nelly.

 

No, I don't just hate him, I loathe him. I was sucked in with "Country Grammar," which wasn't a bad song. I got the entire CD and realized that his rhymes don't make any sense. HE is the epitome of what is wrong with rap today. I like rap, but Nelly sucks some major ass.

Ah... the rapper from the St. Lunatics.. it's sometimes a Jason mask, other times a hockey mask.

 

I think he does it because he THINKS he looks cool. Boy, is HE mistaken... I don't really consider it a "rap thing" because I've only seen him wear one and Eminem. Eminem did it with reason (he had a chainsaw and was 'being' Jason), but that guy...

I am not a Nelly fan but I got a few pointers to make:

 

Nelly does what is called Party music. If you are looking or lyrical content, go else where. The person with the "Still Fly" name should know what that is because the Big Tymers do it too. But Nelly sells more, so that makes him better.

 

Nelly his songs aren't to be really great. Just catchy so they sell and people dance. I think it would be hard to have a party with songs talking about AIDS in Africa.

 

STL are just fooling around having fun. They dress the way they want to dress and they speak the way they want to speak. It isn't about it isn't about fashion just fooling around. I learned from Nelly to not take a damn thing they do seriously.

 

Finally: Nelly does the more old school style of rapping. Meaning: party music while bragging and talking about women. Cash Money does this too, but all their songs are interchangeable, just with a different beat. Atleast you can tell one Nelly song from another.

I don't like Nelly at all, like Midnight said Nelly is a party Rapper he's something for the clubs basically. The guy with the Mask his name is SLO Down and suppose to be a Hype man but he don't really do anything stage to get the crowd hype. The band-aid thing is so out of style I remember when Penny Hardaway (when he was with Orlando) wore a band aid on forehead (for no reason I think) at a all-star game back in the mid 90's it was trendy for like couple of months I think Nelly trying do a "Left Eye"(RIP) type of thing. Still Fly suprise you like Big Tymers and don't like Nelly they do the same "Party for the clubs music." Midnight you picked Puff he don't even write his own raps but he writes checks. To me Nelly is just the "Flava of the Month" and only people who do like him is suburban kids and MTV but like Cube said they will have a new nigga next year.

I'm not really very into rap but Nelly especially annoys the crap out of me. His voice grains on my nerves as well as his lyrics seem really stupid to me. But like you said it's not supposed to be good. Mostly though, why I don't like him, is because I think he thinks he's a real big tough guy or something... Which just seems kind of silly considering he wears a band aid on his face.

True, true... I do enjoy the Big Tymers...what can I say, I like cars and money. But Nelly...

 

There is one song on "Nellyville" (which I have yet the displeasure to listen to) called "Pimp Juice."

Think about it... this song is supposed to be about playing the game and all that but anyone can write something better than that! Come ON! I understand that mindless words that are strung together can be fun sometimes, but how can anyone take something like that[i/] seriously? And yes, being stuck here in the suburbs and having to listen to people sing the chorus of "Hot in Herre" everyday lets me know that people take this guy very seriously.

You're probably thining of Nelly Furtado. I like her, at least "Turn Out the Lights", or whatever the song is called. On the other hand, I can't stand ANY of Nelly's songs... they're just so STUPID, even for "party music". Ol' skool party music was SO much better than this. I'm insulted you'd even think of comparing Doug E. Fresh, Fresh Prince, or even Run DMC to a (if you'll forgive my language) pussy-ass bitch like Nelly.
