Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted July 15, 2002 After having missed Smackdown! last week, I'm not really sure what to make of the whole situation. I think Edge turning on Hogan is most logical, because Edge's current status does absolutely nothing for him and if they were serious about pushing him as a face the Jericho feud would have been the next logical step. Edge turning on Hogan could land him a nice spot as leader of the group and I'm hoping they do this right and play it out until Survivor Series, giving the group time to develope feuds with other Americans so they can blow the whole thing off in an elimination tag. Usually I would hope for something like this to play out for a long, long time, but with the WWE changing direction every week a month is quite a stretch, so I just have to keep my hopes up. Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted July 15, 2002 My immediate thought when the won the belts was "Ok, Edge turns on Hogan and joins team Canada..." However... I think the plan is still to have Vince face Hogan at SummerSlam... which would make him feuding with Edge not likely.. Unless VINCE turns Canadian. And the one thing we don't need is more Vince! Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I don't care much for the stable because it's been done to freaking DEATH but they're getting plenty of heat so I'll support it. It's pretty ovbious that Storm/Christian are gonna win the belts at Vengeance but Edge turning heel is a real toss up. I'm thinking (hoping) that they drag out the heel turn for another month by having Storm play mind games on Edge such as telling him to come back to his Canadian brothers and his brother Christian. In the process we'd get some good Edge v Storm, Edge v Christian and tolerable Edge v Test before he does turn heel for good. They need hell of build up for an Edge heel turn, especially if they want him to come out of it just as a big of a heel as he was a face.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I mainly just wanted to repy to Razor and say I love the pic of HHH and Jericho with the caption...an instant classic. The thing that bugs me about this Canada thing is that the Canadian team will never get a clean win...they'll be like the Alliance and get zero credibility...and whenever they end it whole they won't go out on top. Guest treble charged Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Unless VINCE turns Canadian. I will gladly give up my citizenship the moment that happens.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I don't really think the angle will go anywhere personally, and I know that's a downer. It's been done before though and is kind of nothing more than a comedy act. "Canadian people are closest to Americans than any other nationality! Angry Canadians! Hee hee!" In four months it will disband and nobody will be more over, unless an amazing match somehow comes out of it.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I'm afraid I can't see much future for it, either. The Independance Day angle got massive heat, but what did it lead to? A feud with Rikishi? Why bother with a guy like that (who is hardly the type to represent America) at the expense of a potentially money-making angle? If they're serious in they're push of Edge (and not Vince) they'll have him turn on Hogan and the two can feud until Summerslam. Of course, they can always have Edge refuse the offer and stick with Hogan, and Jericho can replace him as leader. Either way, I just hope Vince stays the hell out of this. So true, and so sad. Then again, I was thinking about this earlier... where would Team Canada go anyway? Would Canadian Tag Champs be enough for them? Or would they slowly and slowly desire more and more belts, needing to prove their worth to their countrymen, until finally one of them loses a belt and their stablemates turn on them for being a disgrace to Canada? I mean where else COULD it go?
Guest Celtic Jobber Report post Posted July 16, 2002 I bet they pull a swerve and Hogan joins the Anti-Americans. I can hear Hogan saying: "The Canadian fans never turned their backs on Hollywood Hogan. But the American fans; you turned your backs on Hollywood a long time ago. As far as Hollywood is concerned, you American fans can stick it! These three guys are the future of professional wrestling, brother!"
