Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 15, 2002 When i first saw the guy i was like 'um, isn't brock on raw? this guy has no chance, just looks like an imitation.' But he's getting more over than brock. Still only does two moves, and doesn't sell, but seems to be getting along better. What's the difference? Having a partner to handle the 'wrestling?' (not that i doubt brock's abilities, i mean they are being booked the same) I think the main problem is pushing this type of character to main event status. The monster heel may be dead. Thoughts? Guest mach7 Report post Posted July 15, 2002 The monster heel is exactly what we need. That era was more productive than anything. I mean, really, who wants to see a hero that is never in danger of being squashed? It makes things kind of anti-climactic if you know that the good guy can kick the bad guys ass anytime (see: Triple H).
Guest myburninghammer Report post Posted July 15, 2002 The difference is that Lesnar looks like a 'roid freak with a toddler's head attached and Bautista looks like a legit bad ass. Big tatoos and pointy goatees will do that. If they give this guy a legit, 'oh shit!' finisher, he won't have to do anything more than grunt to get over. Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Pry him away from D-Von somehow, give him the freaky look he had in OVW (clear contacts, I think he had fang caps on his teeth too), a killer move like a sitout chokeslam or something, and you'll have one sadistic mofo that people will be into. Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Don't give him the Levithan(sp?) gimmick. Vampires and devils just don't work anymore. Keep him as Batista, drop D-Von...which would turn him a face for awhile. Before Batista turns on D-Von, start giving a mid-carder face a good push and get him over with the fans, why not turn Val Venis into plain old Sean Morley and give him a kick-ass face gimmick. Then have Batista do something henious to Sean Morley building up a good fued.
Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted July 15, 2002 You could eat off of Batista's back. It's the size of a friggin picnic table. I could so see D-Von sitting on a chair eating dinner off of Batista's back with a tablecloth over it. Just bill him as Batista: The Human Table!!
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted July 15, 2002 They're also giving Batista a slow burn push. They're not just going "OHMIGAW LOOK FANS! HE'S TALL AND HAS MUSCLES! HE'LL BE FIGHTING FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT WEEK AND WINNING I GUARANTEE IT!" But yes, the part where Batista doesn't look like a retarded toddler named Stewey who happens to have hit the roids a few times doesn't hurt either. Same reason I still consider Rhyno more of a monster than Lesnar, I can believe Rhyno killing me just for the fun of it. I can believe Lesnar drooling on himself and saying "I'm a big boy now!" Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Screaming...thats all you have to do. In wrestling it is what makes the difference between a power move and a regular move. Lesnar does everything with power looks, but no ARRRGAGGHGAHHHH!!!! while he does it to make him sound like a monster. Batista....every move...AAAHHHHFHRHAHRAHFHA clothesline, AFAFAHGHHGGGHGHAHHAAA rolling firemans carry...AAGGGGAGAGGGGGAHHHHHGAHGHAHGH spinebuster...AGGGAGAGAGGHHHHAHGAGHHHHHAGHGHAHG shoulder thrust. Albert tried it...but he looks more fat than ripped. If Lesnar would make some freakin noise out there, he would be more over. That and take that bearhug out of his offense. But trust me...one ARARRARRRRARRRHHHHHGGGGGHHH goes a long way in making amonster heel. RHyno is the perfect example. A whole lot of screaming out of that guy. Plus he gives those psychotic "if I rub my wrist the voices will stop" promos and runs into stuff with his head. Yeah...you have no choice but to think that he is a crazy, monster mofo. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I have no problem with the guy wearing clear contacts and fangs because you don't have to say that he's some supernatural being or anything. If it will make him look better, I'm all for it. I don't think they should have paired him up with D-Von though because that church gimmick sucked ass. While Bautista might have been huge and everything, I don't think he should have been wearing a sleeveless shirt and a bowtie; he looked like he was going to rip his shirt off and start stripping. Lesnar isn't really intimidating anymore. He lost his mystique very quickly and he looks like he's retarded or something. I think he sells too much to be a monster heel and I think Heyman doing all of the talking is hurting him more than helping him. If Heyman works for him, why is Heyman doing all of the talking? Lesnar had sense enough to get an agent, but he's too dumb to do anything but bounce around? I was impressed when he first came on the scene manhandling people, but his offense has been less than impressive thus far. Does anyone else think that Albert looks like a fat, hairy Stone Cold when you squint at him?
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I wonder where in the card Rhyno will be placed when he comes back. I'd like to see him chasing the Euro Title, even though its worthless.

He could be the big bad ass dude in a New Raven's Nest.....or maybe Raven could manage him or be his mouthpiece.
Guest Insane Clown Dan Report post Posted July 15, 2002 I wonder where in the card Rhyno will be placed when he comes back. I'd like to see him chasing the Euro Title, even though its worthless. Screw that... Rhyno would be a very credible main eventer IMO. Maybe they should put him back in the middle-upper midcard first and build his status back up from there. For some reason, I just always had this visual of Rhyno charging the ring and goring the shit out of Kevin Nash when he returned. If continuity ever rears it's head in the WWE, Rhyno will be back as a tweener/face. Thank you, Kevin, for ruining my dream.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Batista does nothing for me. He's just another big guy that could just have easily received the Brock push. He reminds me of something that would have been built up in the 80's to challenge Hogan but ulitmately lose. I'll give the guy a chance along with Orton, Rico, Prototype, and Brock but he just doesn't look like something I'd want pay money to see. Of all the new non-WCW/ECW talent, I like Rico the best because of his different wrestling style and the fact that he's perfect as Billy and Chuck's manager. I like Orton ok, but the guy has zero charisma and he needs to either bulk up so that he looks like a threat in the mid-card or he needs to find a way to drop down to being a Crusierweight, he's dead meat if he stays the way he is. Haven't seen much of Cena yet to have an opinion. What about the rest of you.........out of all the new non-WCW/ECW talent, who do you like the most so far? (Orton, Rico, Cena, Harvard Chris, Batista or Brock?)

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Batista works as a "monster heel" because he's legit scary looking. I mean I would NOT want to run into that guy in a dark alley. Brock looks like a guy you could talk to, but if you tried to beg off Batista he'd just look at you with that angry expression and hit you harder. And when's Rhyno coming back? I'd like to see him at IC or higher. Can you imagine the "EC-DUB" chants at an RVD vs. Rhyno IC title match?
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 16, 2002 rhyno made the hardcore belt seen wirth something, cos to get it you had to get though an evil brick of a bastard. So i wouldn't mind if he did that, had matches with dreamer etc then got more of a push. I think he's the most entertaining of all the 'hoss' types.
