Guest kingkamala Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 Now I know some of you might flame me for this but I think the Sid-Goldberg feud could of worked very well back in the summer of 99 if it was booked right. Now the idea WCW had for making a heel version of Goldberg and having him feud with Goldberg is great what Goldberg needed at that time was a guy who had a chance in hell of beating him. But the problem was Sid frequently lost at house shows not just by DQ and countout but by pinfall he not only got beat by Goldberg but by Sting and Booker T(Who was having his tenth run as WCW tag team champion with Stevie Ray at the time). If WCW had built Sid up make him actually win some more matches and stop counting running in beating up and pinning a guy as wins then the Sid Vs Goldberg feud could have worked.

Just let the two of them go all-out on each other in the ring, maybe have a Falls Count Anywhere match...then maybe a First Blood match to finish the feud. But no, Russo needed gimmick matches galore... And why the hell did the 3Count/Tank Abbot feud just suddenly end? It started and ended within a week...I liked that feud... I also liked Hugh Morrus/Lance Storm...but I'm a Hugh mark...

It wasn't a mind blowing or anything, but it was a solid mid-card feud that could've worked had Rikishi not been injured/had they not blown the feud off on a Smackdown! Kane Vs X-Pac: I really wasn't fond of post-heel turn X-Pac, but this feud had the potential to be better than it was. And to top it off, it was never given the proper blowoff, as X-Pac was paired up with Road Dogg in perhaps the WORST Tag Team I've ever seen, and Kane was paired up with Rikishi, and never paid X-Pac back for the loss at No Way Out or the Rumble elimination. The botched ending to the feud basically killed both Pac's and Kane's heat. Tazz and Rikishi: WHY THE FUCK DID THEY KILL THAT FEUD?!?!?!?! Damn, that's all I really have to say about Tazz and Rikishi.

Christian's heel turn was great, and the follow-up "explanation" promo was great. But after that everything went downhill. Christian joined the Alliance for no other reason than every heel had to be in the Alliance, even though his whole heel turn was centered upon him being his own man. So why was he now Steve Austin's yes-man? They could have played out that feud beatifully, culminating with a (better) ladder match for the IC title at Wrestlemania, or at least Royal Rumble. The Rock vs. Rikishi: After Triple H took responsibility for running over Austin with a car, it would have made sense for HHH to feud with Austin, while Rock feuded with Rikishi for the whole, "I did it for you" thing. Then maybe Rikishi would have had a chance to go over as a monster heel, because you know Rock isn't afraid to sell for anyone. And of course, the Triple H-Kurt Angle feud could have ended a LOT better, namely with Stephanie screwing HHH for Kurt.

Well that wasn't really a failed feud cause the crowd was hot during the match they had on Raw before HHH came back and the feud wasn't finished so it neither really failed or succeded. (It probably would of been good if Triple H hadn't stepped in.

But Trips put himself over, turned heel, and kept Steph. I'm not trying to HHHate in this thread, but that feud made absolutely no sense the way it resolved itself. And adding Trish to Angle's side for the requisite "girls that hate each other" side feud was just stupid, IMO. Edge vs. Christian was botched horribly, and Christian is just starting to recover. Undertaker/DDP. Finally, a mystery guy lived up to it's hype, but the payoff sucked. Page was a heel, WCW was originally babyface, WCW turned itself heel...it was the catalyst to ruining the Invasion. The Flair vs. Eddy/Benoit feud. Flair wins by interference from BUBBA FRICKIN' DUDLEY? Flair should have lost to Guerrero by cheating (Benoit interference, etc.), then come out, called Benoit on it, had a match with him...let the two on one odds seemingly overcome Flair, but have him pull through in the end. It would have made for a good storyline, with the two hungry guys tired of having their spotlight denied, going after the one man who they feel has neglected them.

Jericho was obviously jobbing to HHH at WM so he wasn't gonna lose to RVD, but at the same time if they had jobbed RVD out to Jericho it would have hurt him more than the semi burial they did till he won the IC.

Guest Austin3164life Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 WWF vs. WCW/ECW: 'Nuff said on this point Steve Austin vs. Chris Benoit: I would have Austin gradually turn to the Psychotic Heel he was last year, and have Benoit slowly return to the face status he attained last summer as well, to continue this hot feud. Put Guerrero in there occasionally as a factor against Austin, and have Angle and Austin form a mini-alliance between themselves (to watch each others back). I think putting Benoit over and giving him the Ultimate rub would solidify Benoit's huge status in the ME.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 the goldust/rvd feud from february lead to a pretty good match at no way out but nothing from there. i remember jr even stating at the end of their match that this feud was far from over. their match from no way out was pretty good too. probably the best on the card. the hhh/steph/angle love triangle from the summer of 2000 never really met it's full potential too. remember when shane got hurt at summerslam and there was something going on with the room number where stephanie stayed that night. somehow they had her stay faithful to hhh, even though everyone thought she was a huge cheater. the undertaker/booker t feud from december could have been big too. both guys were over and worked well together but it only lead to one ppv match at vengeance that was a little disappointing.

Booker was buried because he got pinned by the Rock in a handicap match with a run-in and evil referee. The Sid/Golberg feud just pissed me off because Sid was doing all of those run-ins.

Guest dreamer420 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Right up until this past Monday. i don't think it failed because it never actually got started. that match was probably going to lead to a huge nWo vs. wwe storyline but with nash down, x-pac being a dick, hall is fired, michaels proving he is useless, and big show just slothing around it will never happen now. the nWo is dead and buried hopefully for good this time. also to whoever said the rock/booker t feud, i couldn't agree more. the wwe really botched that one by giving the rock the rub in every single situation possible. booker t was luck to walk out of that feud with his career still intact.

Guest saturnmark4life Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 come to think of it yeah, rikishi/tazz could have been really good for tazz, as rikishi's only worth is that he can bump well for his size, and having tazz throw big guys around would be the way to get him over. Whether you like him or not, he managed to remain over whenever he wrestled, even when he was mainly a commentator.
Guest WWF4Life Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Probably Steve Austin vs. Booker T. There was no singles blow off at all, just a lame tag match. I'd also say Jeff Jarrett versus The Roadie. If they hadn't have left in 1995, that would have been the hottest feud of the Summer.
