Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted July 15, 2002 Two men walk down a long hall. One is very noticeably taller than the other, though their images are vague. They chat amiably, but nervously, almost like they are both avoiding discussing a topic. As they draw near, we can see their images begin to focus. One is a tall man, stern of face, but proud in stature. His red cape flows behind him as he moves. He walks with his head held high, but is still troubled by something. His companion notices his discomfort. He is a short, round man with a long white beard. He looks very worn, but still proud. The man speaks, in a dialect very familiar, yet strange at the same time. The white beard: My son, what troubles you? Thou hast, retrospectively, very little to concern thee. Hast thou troubles in Midgard? Mortals can be a treacherous collective, my boy. The man with the red cape responds to his father. He almost has hesitation in his voice, not usual for the mortals who come every week and cheer on his every move. The red cape: Nay Father, amongst my successes against the mortals, I have become a champion. The white beard: ‘Tis rightfully so! Thou art a champion here in Asgard to thine friends and to the slain warriors. A hero to many, a fearsome foe to all those that art foolish enow to oppose thee! The red cape: Odin, ‘tis not that! Methinks I doth possess the knowledge of my own standing in the land of the Æsir. I feel as though there dwellest something inside me Father. A deep and powerful force, more destructive than legions of mountain trolls and frost giants. I hunger for competition, I thirst for challenge. Mind ye that these mortals cannot match ken with the likes of the Midgard Serpent, but mine strength is greatly diminished in the mortal realm. And there I have suffered already three defeats. Odin: Thor my boy, though thou hast ne’er tasted much defeat in thine life, three defeats is barely a record to sneeze upon. Understand that the mortals care not for thine strength, not for thine ability to smash a mountain here in Midgard, nay not even for the times thou hast saved Midgard unknowingly from danger. They worship thee because of the image that thou puts out. The noble deeds and the pride of thine character. These are what makes the mortals chant thy name. The fact that thou art something bigger than they, and ’tis this fact that makes them aspire to be like thee. Thor: Father, thine words have invigorated me, as I knew they would. Father and son embrace as they step into a room, bathed in gold. The old man walks to a tall throne and sits, he pets the head of one of his hounds that has awoken from his slumber to greet his master. The master also takes time to give a small treat to a raven that has swooped down from an unknown perch. The hound lies back down and the raven begins to clean its feathers. Thor goes to walk away but Odin calls to him. Odin: SON!! Thou hast not to worry about making thy old father proud... thou hast made me prouder than I could ever hope to be. Now return thee to Midgard, and prove to those mortals that they cannot bring down the God of Thunder without putting up a fight! Thor: I will father... I will. And keep thine self out of trouble! The son walks off, back down the hall from whence they came. The wise old man sitting high upon his thrown chuckles to himself, proud of his son and all his accomplishments. His raven is tapping him on his shoulder with his beak, and the happy All-Father happily obliges the shining black bird with another treat. END

Guest kelloggs Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Loki! I actually remember hearing that name...if watching some cartoon back about six or seven years ago counts. It was a hot show back in the day that learned me a lot of information about legends and stuff but I'll bet nobody remembers that 'ish. The things these kids have to grow up on now. Memories... And Odin...I learned a little about him in school once. Now I'm starting to remember Norse Legend stuff. Solid promoage and learn me some more legends Thor. M. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Heh heh... The SWF: We got gods. Nice work, Taft. I know I was one of the first people to say that I thought your gimmick might not work, but you've done all right so far. Now, next time, I want Odin to take Thor out for a spin in his Corvette. Guest Ash Ketchum Report post Posted July 16, 2002 See, I told ya it'd work. Denver's got a knack for writing. Why, if he and I ever got into the WWE offices and messed with the show scripts, it'd be cool like last night!
