I was wondering if you guys could tell me what do you think is the best G-1 Climax Tourney & Super J Cup Tourney and why. I know a lot of people make these posts to see what to recommend, but I just need your help...yeah, lol. Thanks guys!

I rewatched the last two matches of '94 this weekend and enjoyed them tremendously. I can't help you on the G-1, since I was never into NJ heavies, but '95 and '96 are supposedly great.

Chris Benoit competes as Wild Pegasus in this. Other great performers like Jushin Liger, The Great Sasuke, Shinjiro Ohtani, El Samurai and Black Tiger (Eddie Guerrero) also compete. However, both Benoit AND Jericho are in the J Cup 95, and the tournament is very good so maybe you would want to check that out. The Best G1 Climax final is the 1991 final between Masa Chono and Keiji Mutoh but the actual tournament isn't that great IMO. The 1992 tournament is quite good, with a very good final between Chono and Rick Rude. The 1996 tournament is also good, but the final match is quite dissapointing. Last years tournament was very good, with an excellent final. Unfortunately i haven't seen any of the other Tournaments. Hope that helps.
Guest MrDanger Posted July 15, 2002 Report Posted July 15, 2002 The 98 G-1 Climax tournament was great, Tenryu/Hashimoto, Kojima/Hashimoto and the final between Yamakazi and Hashimoto are all really good matches. It's also worth checking out last year's tournamenr since it contained quite a few good matches during the group stages and a rocking final.

Guest Stuart Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 G1 Climaxes 92 (for the final), 96, 97, 98 and 2001 are all worth checking out. Haven't seen 93, 94 or 95 (sans a few group matches), while 99 and especially 2000 are weak tournaments by past standards. Last year's was very, very good, especially the "pro wrestling" block (Muto, Chono, Tenzan, Kojima, Nishimura, Liger), but not talked about much because it happened in a pretty bad year of major shows. As for the J Cups, 94 and 95 are a must. 2000 is easy viewing, but doesn't compare to the previous two.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I have recently seen alot of last years G1 Climax and It was very good indeed. It was the tournament which made me realize how good Hiroyoshi Tenzan is.
