Best QB is the NFL?

Jeff Garcia is very good. Espically when he was in the CFL. He lead my team to the Grey Cup.

 

Kurt Warner is problay the best right now.

 

But Peyton Manning and Donvan McNabb have alot of potenntial.

VINNY TESTAVERDE!!!! No really, he's gonna hit 40,000 yards this season, that automatically puts him the hall. Now, for this season, he may just be holding the spot until Chad Pennington comes in, but he's still capable of a season like 3 years ago when he took the Jets to the conference championship.

5. Jeff Garcia- Being a 49ers fan I have been impressed the last few years when there was doubts the Niners could follow up Montana and Young.

 

I also look forward to seeing if Michael Vick can fulfill his potential and be the most exciting player in the NFL. Does anyone know if he is going to be Atlanta's full-time starter this season?

Manning will be good, he needs to improve though. Without Edgerrin James the Colts aren't that good. Having EJ will allow Peyton to improve and he'll be very good in a couple years. I think Brett Favre is the best right now.

The best QB in the league depends on the situation. If there is no other talent on the team then McNabb is the best because he is better at making plays happen. I don't like Culpepper because he pulls the ball down and runs too quickly with him it is like 1.2..ok I am running. McNabb tries to play QB. If there is talent I think the best pure passer is Manning.

Brett Favre. Should have had his 4th MVP crown last year. Should end up going down as one of the best qbs of all time. By the way, Favre is my favorite footballer, I am from Wisconsin, and I am a Green Bay Packer mark, but Im pretty confident hes the best in the game right now....and apart from a couple off years....has been for the last near 10 years.

I would say Kurt Warner, because he has proven himself to be a big-game quarterback and because he plays in a system that allows him to use his talents to the fullest.

 

Brett Favre is definite first ballot Hall of Famer, and will be up there with Montana, Marino and Elway when we talk about great quarterbacks.

 

I wonder if Vinny will make the Hall...he had a pretty crappy first half of his career, but then played very well once he left Tampa Bay. Still, he's really had only two spectacular seasons (in 96 with Baltimore and the 98 "Broadway Vinny" season in NY). On the other hand, his career is very much like Elway's, with so-so numbers up until the last few years when they got mind-blowing. The difference being that Elway played on winning teams and made five Super Bowls, the first three he made were mostly because of his talent and being one of the best two-minute drill QB's of all time, if not the best.

He sucks because he throws a ton of INTs despite that cast, and virtually every Rams loss is his fault.

 

Trent Green outperformed Warner two years ago with the same cast. That should tell you something right there. How did Green do last year with a normal team? And he's better than Warner.

The thing is, if you sit back and give Kurt Warner time, he's going to tear you apart. He's got the arm-strength, vision, and quick release to get a ball where he wants it to go almost instantaneously. If one of those receivers opens up for a split-second, Warner can get the ball there. In that respect, he is very much like Favre.

 

But that hinges on good pass protection. Look at who they had problems with last year: New England, New Orleans, Philadeplhia, and the Giants. All team with good pass rushes. Three of those teams were able to put pressure on with their front fours. The big difference that I see between Favre and Warner is that Favre's a shifty little bastard. He doesn't look quick, but he's mobile. You can't force Favre into a bad decision, because even though Favre isn't considered a good running quarterback, he's tough to get a good lick on and bring down in the backfield (make your own Michael Strahan joke here). Warner's pretty much a pocket passer, and if you can get to him, you're going to make him get rid of the ball before he wants to. That's what causes the INTs Kahran is talking about. But if you give him time, you're fucked. Because those receivers will get open, and he will find them eventually.

 

Warner is an above-average quarterback, personnel be damned. He's just not the best there is.

I'd have to go with Donovan McNabb. Today's NFL game favors the mobile QB over the pure pocket passer. McNabb is the best there is at making things happen, generating offense, and turning a hopeless situation into a gain for his team. I had him on my fantasy team two years ago, and he was in the top 5 fantasy QB's all year, despite not having a running back or receiver in the top 30. When he needs to, he can do it all, and with a strong cast around him, McNabb is even better.

Alright, Warner doesn't suck. I just said that because I feel he is grossly overrated. He is above-average, and he can be quite accurate at times, but he is nowhere near the level of a Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia or Rich Gannon.

 

Teams figured out last year that if you pressure him, he crumbles. The Rams wouldn't even be in the Super Bowl if it wasn't for Philly coughing up the ball during the kickoff of the NFC Championship Game. He can dominate horrible defences, but struggles against anyone good.
