The 2 disc SE is pretty loaded, although it's missing the commentary from the R2 disc. Still, if you are a fan of this film, you can't go wrong here. The Big Bus: Cult classic comedy about a super huge turbo bus taking a bunch of eccentric passengers across America. Kind of a low key Airplane! in a bus. The dvd is widescreen and 5.1, not bad for such an old flick. Storytelling: Latest offering from the master of odd Todd Solondz. The DVD is barebones as with his other releases, but I am a big fan of his work so I'll grab it. Top Secret: Very popular, early Val Kilmer comedy finally hits DVD. The new artwork sucks, but having the film (especially in widescreen) is what counts. Till' next week.

Guest Karnage Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 The Canadian Alliance Atlantis version and US Miramax version do have commentary! They are identical except for the packaging. This one has english subtitles. But, theres another version released by Columbia Tristar/TVA International with no english subtitles but has a DTS track and might have different features than the other one. There are two versions of this version, Bare Bones and SE. So, I guess that explains everything.

Dames This is Entertainment Outlet on 40th Street, half a block west of 5th Avenue. Sometimes they sell DVDs before their release date too (I saw From Hell there about a month before its official release). I've been to a place that I think was called DVD Palace, on 33rd St., near the Empire State Building, but it was one of those places that masquerades as a legit DVD store, but has a porn-to-regular movie ratio of 7:1.

I have what I assume is the U.S. Buena Vista version of Amelie which I purchased at a pawn shop that sells stolen Netflix DVDs (it says "Distributed by Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Inc...made in USA")...and it has a director's commentary under Special Features (you can't select the track from the PowerDVD menu...you HAVE to go to the DVD's Special Features screen).
