Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Eric Bischoff's appearance on Raw tonight took the wrestling world by surprise. While it was an interesting swerve by WWE, the reason that most people were shocked to see Bischoff on WWE TV was that the manner in which he appeared was very close to the scenario that Vince Russo had laid out to Vince McMahon when the two men were discussing Russo's return to the company last month, as we reported a few weeks ago. McMahon was intrigued by Russo's idea at the time and all signs pointed to him running with it when he brought Russo in. Then, according to sources close to the situation, when the members of the creative team heard Russo's ideas, they reportedly went to Vince McMahon and talked him out of the program. In the interim, Russo left WWE and was given a consultant's role. Russo, of course, went to work for NWA TNA. The idea obviously stuck with McMahon however, because at least a version of it was put into action tonight. 1wrestling.com These are the kind of ideas that Russo was pitching and the other members of the writing team said sucked. This Raw is the most talked about Raw in a long time.
Guest TheBlurricane Report post Posted July 16, 2002 The writing team told Vince it was a bad idea...........or was it HHH? hahahaha just kidding. It makes you wonder what Russo's other ideas were?
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Actually, the newsletters said it was HHH and Steph who were the main ones complaining after Russo was announced back with WWE and were saying that his ideas wouldn't work now.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Please, the Bischoff angle was floating around since last year. Talks fell through and nothing came of it. I seriously doubt Russo had anything to do with the final decision.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted July 16, 2002 This Angle involves Bischoff coming back as a single character to assume a currently empty position (RAW "figurehead"). Russo's involved 2 wrestlers (Goldberg and Steiner) and 4 non-wrestlers (Bischoff, Hart, Foley, Michaels) "invading" the show, with 4 of them not even on payroll (3 of which would command big money). Apples and oranges IMO.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 16, 2002 the Raw show was basically the same thing that happened on Nitro during the New Blood angle, only difference is that the WWE champs got to keep their belts.
Guest franchise632 Report post Posted July 16, 2002 It is my understanding that when Vince met with Russo that he felt he was out of touch with the current wrestling scene and the WWE product. However if this idea were to be attributed to Russo it would again be proof that Russo can come up with a good idea, but what he needs is someone like Vince standing over him saying "these 25 ideas are real shit, but we can use this good one"
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 16, 2002 From http://www.wwe.com/news/headlines/1159717 WWE.com: Can you just talk a little bit about how this came about? Bischoff: We've been talking unofficially through third parties for almost a year now. We've come close to doing something a couple of times, but for a variety of reasons it's just never worked out. About a month or two ago, we'd gotten a little bit more serious in our conversations, and I got a chance to talk directly to Vince (McMahon). I think we were able to break a lot of ice, just over the phone. Once we did that, it just seemed like it was much easier to move forward and get a deal done for sure. Really, this just came together within the last week or 10 days.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted July 16, 2002 Oh please, I talked about Bischoff with people more than 6 months ago. By that logic, if the wwe hires goldberg now they are going through with the russo angle, even if he has nothing to do with bischoff. God, Russo sucks and for some reason people want to hand him credit even when he didnt do anything. Niko
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted July 16, 2002 When I see the stable Russo suggested...then I'll believe it was his idea.
