This is my home team and i waould like to know what you think about them. I think their line-up should be as follows-

SS J. Wilson

2B P. Reese

C J. Kendall

LF B. Giles

1B C. Wilson

CF R. Mackowiak

3B A. Ramirez

RF A. Hyzdu

They should send Anderson and Beimel to the bullpen, release Villone, and the rotation and bullpen would look like this.

1. K. Benson

2. K. Wells

3. J. Fogg

4. A. Burnside

5. J. Grabow

or

R. Vogelsong(when he's off the DL)

Bullpen

LR- S. Lowe

MR- J. Manzanillo

MR- S. Sauerbeck

MR- J. Beimel

Relief Specialist- J. Anderson

Setup- B. Boehringer

Cl- M. Williams

With a trade of Kevin Young, Jimmy Anerson, Adrian Brown, and a mior leauger to the Reds for Sean Casey and Chris Reitsma, this team would be all ready with Casey and Giles at 3 and 4, and Reitsma in the rotation, this would be perfect.

I live in cincy and there is no way we would ever make that trade. Kevin Young is an overpaid player and Reistma has an era under 3.5. We have plenty of outfielders. I will jump off the suspension bridge the day Jim makes that trade

Correct on Kevin Young. Pittsburgh would have a hard time giving him away with his salary.

You're never going to score any runs that way. They really need to let Aramis Ramirez heal up too. And I'd keep Jimmy Anderson in the rotation. He's got some Jamie Moyer vibes about him stylewise, and I doubt he'd be more effective in the pen.

I think the Pirates are the most doomed franchise in baseball as far as winning a championship goes. You look at their lineup and its pathetic. Brian Giles is their only great hitter. Aramis Ramirez I think could also be good but I think he's struggling cuz of an injury. Jason Kendall never became the player I thought he was gonna be and hasn't produced the same kinda numbers since his ankle injury some years ago. The rest of the guys wouldn't even have a job on any other major league team. The Pirates do have about 3 good starting pitchers and a great closer. I think the only team in worst shape in the either league would be the Devil Rays. I don't know how the minor league system is, but I haven't heard Peter Gammons praise it, so it can't be that good. And even Pirate minor league phenoms never make it (chad hermanson, among others). I used to root for the Pirates every year cuz I thought they had some good young players. THis year I realized how bad of shape they really are. In case you care i'm a Dodgers Fan.

Not only have they been one of the most pathetic franchises over the last five years...but they know it. And apparently, they're quite frustrated with it.

They had a terrible GM for quite some time, and they've thrown big money at mediocre players. Still, they're getting better, and I see more hope for them then the Brewers or even the Marlins.

What part of this series are you pointing at?

Well, they blew out the Cardinals with 25+ runs in the first two games...and then all hell broke loose in the third game. Between the bizarre 3-0 count to Edmonds to the outright illegal slide into Vina by Brian Giles (there were two - on one, he was able to get the bag...on the other, not so much), I'm surprised the two teams didn't break out the semi-automatic rifles and start shooting between the bunkers.

Both of the times the benches cleared were just overreactions. On the first one Edmonds shouldn't have said anything to McClendon, and McClendon certainly shouldn't have come out of the dugout after him. Lots of people get pitched inside and that's the best way to get Edmonds out. Slides like the ones from Giles happen every day. I've never seen a big deal made of slides like those until this year. He had nothing to be mad about, both times Giles did touch the base, both times the double play was turned, and neither time was anyone hurt.

I don't know, the first slide was awfully misaimed. Reaching out to slide second base to touch is, while perfectly legal, not the bet way to approach it. Unless you're deliberately aiming to take out the second baseman. Heck, we see it all the time, and Vina takes it like a man, but lets not pretend Giles wasn't trying to take him down.

Oh yeah, I know that he was trying to take him down, but there was nothing wrong with that. It was a legal move and has been used for ages.

My thoughts on The bucs? HA-HA-HA-HA!

It's so tragic. Cincinnati and Minnesota make the same or less and yet They manage to make it in the Playoff race, while they languish in the celler.

Why? They got idiots (not the usual fans) in management and they make dumb trades and deals. Oh and the Ballpark is a crock of shit.

Good old' PNC Park.

I hate that bank with a passion.

Funny thing was several years ago the Pirates were in the playoff hunt with a SUB .500 WINNING PERCENTAGE! They eventually lost the division to the Astros, but this town was abuzz with pennant fever, sadly. The next year, some teams got winning records, and the Bucs were back to be cellar dwellers.

And I thought PNC Park was going to make them competitive. That's what all the RRI supporters said. (Anyone from Pittsburgh knows what I'm talking about.)

I hear the park itself is quite nice. Is that true? I've been thinking about taking the 6 hour drive sometime to see a game there.

The park is awesome, it's just the team that sucks, thus not making it worth the money to go inside.

That's why they have opponents! :-D I wouldn't mind seeing the Cardinals.

No, PNC is quite shitty along with it's accompanying team. Shit, 3RIVERS had more personality.

I wonder how many ATM service fees it took for PNC to get the naming rights.
