Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I saw Men in Black 2 last week and I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I was never a huge fan of the original, but aside from the villainess, absolutely NOTHING new was added for the sequel - no new characters (Jay's love interest doesn't really appear enough to count), and there was nothing that couldn't be found in your average episode of "Men in Black - the cartoon series". I enjoyed the "TV show intro" and CG-cartoon that preceded the film more than the rest of the film itself. I guess it wasn't really truly awful like other movies I don't like, I just expected so much more, and got absolutely nothing that hadn't been done before. Hell, even most of the jokes were ripped off the first movie.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I thought it was funnier than MIB1, but not quite as fun, if that makes sense. More sight gags and good one liners, but the overall package was down a few notches from the original.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I thought it was a crappy, lazy, cash in sequel. In no way was it even comparable to MiB 1. It had a couple of funny scenes, that was it. The F/X were lousy, the story was stupid and didn't make any sense (they didn't even try to have the story make sense), the talking dog got tiresome after about 2 minutes and the "role reversal" thing between Jones and Smith was the only fresh thing they could add to make it "unique". Pure crap.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Heh.. all this MIBII bashing is making me grateful I went to the see the Powerpuff Girls instead of it the day it came out.
Guest EQ Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 While I admit that it's not as good as MiB1, I still liked MiB2 anyway.
Guest starvenger Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I liked MiB2 to an extent. It was funny and had some decent CGI FX, but had a plot worse than that of a Jackie Chan movie. So I guess it was enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable.
Guest mesepher Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I didn't like the first one... so I won't be checking this one out either... good to hear it is a bomb anyways though! B)
Guest starvenger Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 Well, it's not exactly a bomb - it'll do $150mil easy, and might reach $200...
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 16, 2002 Report Posted July 16, 2002 I left after 15 minutes, and sneeked in into Mr. Deeds instead.
Guest EQ Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I left after 15 minutes, and sneeked in into Mr. Deeds instead. You were... very, very sneaky sir. I think they may have underestimated your sneakiness.

I think they may have underestimated your sneakiness. I doubt anyone will get that unless they've seen it.... But the Butler did steal every scene he was in. Dames
