Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I just finished watching MST3K:The Movie. Pretty damn good imo. Anyway, I am a new Mystery Science Theather viewer. I never saw it while it was on Comedy Central and now I see it every Saturday on Sci-Fi. Does anyone else like this show? And does anyone else know if there are MST3K tapes and DVDs out and where they sell them? I gotta get one. And does anyone else know if they will ever release the Comedy Central episodes soon?
Guest razazteca Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I think there are at least 3 MST3K DVDs out. Amazon might have some
Guest El Satanico Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I've been a big fan since the comedy central episodes. Yeah they sell MST DVD and VHS they should be found at any video store. You can also check Amazon.com and ebay.com Here is a good site for information about the show and has a section that you can buy tapes and DVDs from. http://www.mst3kinfo.com/
Guest El Satanico Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I think there are at least 3 MST3K DVDs out That site i said has 10 DVDs listed so there's at least 10.
Guest Kingpk Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 A newbie eh? Here's a tip: BUY Manos: The Hands of Fate NOW!!! Damn, I can watch that show 30x straight. Got almost all the Sci-Fi Channel episodes on tape, a good thing since they lost the rights to almost all the movies of the first two seasons. Does anyone else have Mike Nelson's Movie Megacheese?
Guest Doomsault Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I still remember when they showed The Giant Mantis or something to that effect and laughing forever. Good times.
Guest What? Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I loved the "Devil Doll" episode, with the dummy that has to be locked in a cage at night or it will kill... I love it and I just saw a really funny one, forgot the movie but it sure did suck. Anyway, there was a huge yacht and all these models were lying around, and then Crow kinda moved his head up and said "Hey, it's my nest" and Tom and Joel just kinda went like "Oh, yeah..." "Yeah, look at that" I don't know why, but that was just hilarious to me
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I believe that was Danger: Diabolik. And that was actually Mike during that run. It was also the last episode. *sniff* From 'Devil Doll': Crow - "You think he likes ham. Wait till you see me like ham." Some Guy in the movie speaking to his girlfriend - "I have to inspect that dummy." Mike - "So if you could look away for a second..." The Great Vorelli - "This time Hugo...You're going to die." Crow - "At that point there were some warning signs."
Guest razazteca Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 well I only saw three at the local store, after doing research at Amazon.com I saw 11 DVD products.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I've got all the episodes that Rhino has released thus far, with the exception of the rare Amazing Colossal Man tape. I also still tape the Sci-Fi episodes, and much like everyone else, could watch that show for months straight without tiring of it. If you're a newbie, I suggest Manos, I Accuse My Parents, and Red Zone Cuba as a starting point. And to whomever mentioned it...I also own Mike Nelson's Movie Megacheese.
Guest Intimacy Goblin Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I would suggest seeing The Mole People and Agent for HARM... (scenes from HARM) (man on screen drives car into a parking space) Crow: (in damn good impression of James Bond theme) BA DA BA DAAA! (woman takes 6 minutes to assemble a gun) Tom: By this time in a James Bond movie there would've been 8 ski chases, 12 helicopter explosions...
Guest Rock Candy Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I have the majority of episodes hosted by Joel on tape, with about six that I missed for whatever reason. Then when Comedy Central started running episodes hosted by Mike, I stopped taping. For whatever reason a long time ago, I didn't like Mike. Of course now, I have whatever I could get from Rhino and I taped a good number of the Sci-Fi run. And if you're missing any episodes, I recommend this site: http://wcrhodes.home.mindspring.com/html/M...MST3KEplist.htm Buy a tape, or buy a whole season! -Ben
Guest ShooterJay Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I have Megacheese. Must have read it 4000 times already, it's that f'n great. I heard he came out with another book in March, but I haven't seen it. I have Mitchell, Pod People, and a Shorts tape on VHS, and I rented Eegah on DVD. I'm in the minority who thinks Mitchell is better than Manos.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Best. Show. Ever. At least top 3 ......but I echo the sentiment
Guest M Nyland Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 yeah.... I picked up The Movie first...then Manos...then I Accuse My Parents just cause it looked good... I laughed so hard I cried...especially at Manos... Then I got Mitchell and Beginning of the End on DVD... good times...good times... MOVIE SIGN~!
Guest Vyce Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 "Manos: The Hands of Fate" may be the closest thing to perfect comedy I've ever seen. It's TOO fucking good. I second the notion about Mike. He was just NOT as good as Joel. And when Dr. Forrester left - whoo boy. That was it for me.
Guest Kingpk Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I liked both Joel and Mike. I guess people don't like Mike because he doesn't have the same relationship with the bots as Joel did, and they changed the writing of the show to portray Mike as an outsider who has an uneasy coexistence with Crow & Tom. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I just hated how Comedy Central was jerking around Best Brains (MST3K's production company) in the last few seasons on CC. They should really sell off the episodes to syndication (at least, the movies they still have rights to).
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Yea. Will we ever get to see all the episodes of the show?
Guest J*ingus Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I'm in the minority, but I always liked Mike a lot more than Joel. He was an equal talent inside the booth, and in my opinion was much better in the skits. Of course, I also liked Bill Corbett better as Crow and a skit actor than I did Trace Bealieu. I think it might be that I first got into the show later on, in the Sci-Fi years, rather than earlier, so I didn't develop any sentimental attraction to Joel and Trace like the longer-term fans.
Guest El Satanico Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I never really understood the wide spread dislike of Mike. He may have been different but he was still good. The show didn't change and it was still funny so you'd think that's the important part. It must be that the long timers were just so attached to Joel that it was nearly impossible for them to like the replacement. I agree that the show lost something when Forrester and Frank left. But them leaving only hurt the time filler skits. The important part of the show wasn't hurt that badly so i could deal with it. Also i'm in the small minority that actually enjoyed Forrester's mother, bobo and Brain Guy.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 MASTER NINJA THEME SONG~! I got Beggining of the End, Manos, Mitchell, and Brain that wouldn't die on DVD. I've gotta get Hobgoblins on tape. "Help, Someones rubbing puppets on us!" "Just let go of them, they'll fall to the floor" *sigh* I liked both, but Joel was a little better. Does this bug you? Does this bug you, I'm not touching you...
Guest M Nyland Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Idiot Control Now! was a great song...that I just can't remember the words to... The Tribute to Pants was also nicely done... "you watch Joe Don Baker movies?"
Guest Smues Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Gamera is really neat, Gamera is filled with meat, we've been eating Gamera. Shell! Teeth! Eyes! Flames! Claws! Breath! Scales! Fun! Dr. Forrester is kind of a jerk, and Frank is really dumb too. We have to take part in these lame experiments, but do we complain? No! No! Yes! Huh?? So, we, Haikiba all over the place, and talk of a thousand wonderful days. Gamera is really neat, he is filled with turtle meat, now we have commercial sign!
Guest What? Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I liked both Mike and Joel, actually I mean, Joel delivered everything so well, whereas Mike was the main writer for the show so he's obviously funny. But, Crow will always be my favorite, doesn't matter who the host is. Hell, just sit Crow alone down in front of a Movie screen...I'd watch it.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 You should track down the KTMA episode with just the bots doing the commentary
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 RavenBomb has the best MANOS~! sig EVER. MST3K is one of my favorite shows ever. I've been watching it since I was like eight or so. I mean, it had robots, so of course I watched it. I've been getting the DVDs and have found Manos, Beginning of the End, Brain (or Head) That Wouldn't Die, and the Wild Wild World of Batwoman. I've got the Movie on VHS, as well as most of Hobgoblins AND a rare appearance by Mike and the Bots on USA Live. Oh, and Mike's book. Here's something scary: Hobgoblins is out on DVD...without MST3Kommentary.
Guest Rock Candy Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Idiot Control Now! was a great song...that I just can't remember the words to... Here ya go! [sOL] Joel: Alright, alright, let's do it again. You come in late, girls, again, and you're out! Alright. From the top. (Music starts, singing): With a pickle mine We kicked the nipple beer Steady as we go We're flying over trout Gatto down the highway At the speed of light All I wanna feel now Is the wind in my eyes Sack of monkeys in my pocket My sister's ready to go! All: (Gypsy repeatredly comes in late) Hear the engines roll now. Idiot control now. Hideous control now. Needy on the road now. Needy in control, Wheels on fire, Burning rubber tires! [Deep 13] Dr. F (at recording console): He's pretty good! Frank: Good? He's the best! [sOL] All: Near each other rolls now. He really likes to go now. Needy inches bow down. Pity and a po boys! Here the engine roar Bees on pie Burning rubber tires! [Deep 13] Dr. F (to Joel): Great! Pretty good! What do you think? [sOL] Joel (giving 'OK' sign): It STINKS! -Ben
Guest M Nyland Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 god I love that song...and I don't know why
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Ah yes, the wonderful "Pod People" episode. I remember reading somewhere that foreign distributors tried to pass off that movie as a sequel to ET! Another great one that I've recently watched is "Angel's Revenge". This one has to be seen. Crow:"All right, I'm just giving in and looking at the breasts!"
