Guest EQ Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I like Linkin Park. They have a cool sound. Just about every song on the CD is good
Guest Nezbyte Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Dislike. Pop + Power cords + DJ/MC = Money. I like Chesters voice and i think the MC can rap. But the collaboration between everyone sucks.
Guest Doomsault Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Not sure how you associate them with Pop just because they have popular songs but anyway, I like them. I hope their remix CD is good.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 they're making a remix CD!!!!!!! BAH GAWD
Guest Flyboy Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Dislike. The only song I DO like is "In The End"... Remix CD? Are they Puffy?
Guest chirs3 Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Don't care for them much... no, not at all really. Just another "My mommy didn't love me" band.
Guest Kinetic Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 On the topic of Puffy--which is, in fact, not the topic at all--but I couldn't help but notice that he released an album called We Invented Da Remix or something along those lines. Might want to misspell a few more words. In any case...it isn't true. Don't believe the Puffyghanda. Linkin Park sucks, yo.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Yes, yes... that's what I was referring, too. Oh... off the topic.. when HAS their been good remixes? (New topic idea.. hmm..?)
Guest Kinetic Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I was thinking "Best and Worst Samples" as a topic, too. I just want to take issue with whoever sampled John Cougar Melloncamp's "Jack and Diane" a few years ago. I'm not going to start the topic, though.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 I think you may be referring to Jessica Simpson, but I'm not sure.
Guest thefrenchargel Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 lord, how did i forget Linkin Park on the most hated thread? Shame on Argel for this oversight...Linkin Park is Korn for 12 year olds. Korn is Krap. it's like Diet Crap.
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Linkin Park is: A corporate band cashing in on nu-metal success
Guest EQ Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Wow... you guys really hate them... I listen to their album every day at work Hmm... oh well
Guest M Nyland Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" is an album that I say I enjoy about 10 of the songs off of...no wait...make that 9...Crawling pissed me off... They are a nu-metal band trying to cash in on the success...this is the same reason their was corporate rock in the 80s with Journey, Styx, Boston, etc....and why hair metal was huge and their were a MILLION of them... same goes with ACTUAL boy groups (not bands...GROUPS) today...Backstreet, N Sync, all that other crap... they are all taking a pop culture fad and milking the SHIT out of it...
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Awful. Awful, awful music. Awful rhymes, awful whining, and awful "There's all this chaos in my soul" crap. Linkin Park lyrics are quite possibly the most general, non-specific lyrics I've heard in ages...and gah, they're just awful. Feel my hatred.
Guest hardyz1 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I like them. Their music sounds good to me. And I'm 19 years old, not depressed, not suicidal, had a decent childhood, and I don't want to kill my parents. I guess I'm in the minority of LP fans.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 From Flyboy212EAW when HAS their been good remixes? Some Rob Zombie remixes aren't half bad...the "El Phantasmo" remix that Lance Storm used is good, as is the Ninja Girl On A Motorcycle remix of "Superbeast." Hell, even Slayer has a remix of their old song "Aggressive Perfector," but you can't even tell, really. Remixes are usually pretty shitty, but that's what you get when an industrial/techno/trance/whateverthefuckelseitcanbecalled DJ tries to re-create the magic of another song.
Guest M Nyland Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Actually.... 3rd Strike did a remix/cover of "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath and intermixed Ozzy's vocals with a dj and it is actually really good... I don't know why I like it...probably cause I'm an Ozzy mark...
Guest godthedog Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I like them. Their music sounds good to me. And I'm 19 years old, not depressed, not suicidal, had a decent childhood, and I don't want to kill my parents. I guess I'm in the minority of LP fans. the average linkin park fan isn't depressed or suicidal or the victim of a poor childhood. linkin park's music about being depressed and suicidal isn't good enough to make the suicidal people identify with them. most of the suicidal kids go for trent reznor (who isn't a great lyricist by any stretch of the imagination, but is at least sincere). i think linkin park mostly appeals to the alternative posers who think it's cool to write brooding and depressed poetry, even though they mostly worry about girls and clothes (the same fuckers who killed alternative music). if you think their music is nice and catchy, more power to you. i can understand that, cause the songs are fairly catchy. i just hate the kids who say "man, i SO TOTALLY understand where they're coming from, like...i try to do all these things and stuff, and like...in the end, it doesn't even matter...whoa..."
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I like Linkin Park, I think it is a very catchy and nice CD. But it isn't that I am one of those "posers" either. Thats a few. And its impossible for Linkin Park to cash in on the sucess of the rap-rock thing. Since their sucess came out of left field. Rap-Rock is as old as Rap/Hip-Hop. Linkin Park aren't a "corporate band". They are a light metal/nu-metal/rap-rock band. As for the corporate boy bands: 1: Nsync is now an RnB group. So they really aren't trying to be a teeny group when everyone is out of their teens. 2: Backstreet stopped being a teenie group 3 years ago. Maybe a group is allowed to change. 3: There are no teenie groups out there now except B2K, but they are the modern New Edition, so I guess they might not get as big of a heat as a Nsync would. The problem with is that people on this board do not like main stream music(atleast after 1994). They call every major group sell outs or corporate. Its impossible for a group to be sell outs when they formed on their own and worked on their own to get big but signed a deal to make money off music they like making. If they didn't like the music they were making, then they are sell outs. Until then, if you don't like it, don't listen to it, but don't pretend that its crap thats all corporate. Because you are just talking out of your ass. ranting/bitching over.
Guest PlatypusFool Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 linkin park... wank, wank, wank, wank, wank...
Guest chirs3 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I don't see many cries of "Sellout!", but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I know nothing of selling out - I can barely even figure out what it means for a band to do so. All I know is Linkin Park sounds like a diet version of every other NuMetal band out there, and they're one of the pioneers in making the "My Mommy Didn't Love Me" genre popular. Note: "My Mommy Didn't Love Me" music does not necessarily have anything to do with mommies or love. It started out with a few songs talking about deep emotional scars stemming from home ("Broken Home", by Papa Roach, for example), then it branched out to just deep emotional scars without citing the home. So I refer to any Nu Metal "I am so wounded inside, I think I'll do what 3218378 other bands are doing and write very vague lyrics about it" group as a "My Mommy Didn't Love Me" band. Wow, that went off on a tangent... um... Linkin Park sucks! Back on topic!
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 them and Staind should just go away we should just erase them from history, and turn them into trivia questions
Guest M Nyland Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 that would be a dumbass trivia question
Guest thefrenchargel Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Awful. Awful, awful music. Awful rhymes, awful whining, and awful "There's all this chaos in my soul" crap. Linkin Park lyrics are quite possibly the most general, non-specific lyrics I've heard in ages...and gah, they're just awful. Feel my hatred. Mucho props. Said it best right there. They're still not as bad as Drowning Pool.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 They're worse than Drowning Pool, for the one simple reason that "Tear Away" is a decent (not good, great, awesome, or anything like that) song. I can't say the same for any of Linkin Park's songs...
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 A corporate band is by mine defintion: A band that has been made up by the company (ie Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Puddle of Mudd) that is making money on the music that is becoming popular (hard rock/nu-metal). The bands will usually be on different record labels so that the record label can get some money off of this music phenomina (like Nu-metal, boybands, and bling-bling rap, and the many different hot diva brittany spear wannabe's.).
