Guest SteveyP93 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Because every thing is pointing for me to get out while I can. The business is down, yet everything they do proves that they don't want my business. Pay per views cost more, there is the DVD catastrophe, and ticket prices and travel packages cost a ridiculous amount, even moreso than before. But as many horrible moves they make, as many times as they put Stephanie back on TV to clutter my TV (and yes HHH, I do hate her, she is not a ratings spike, and I do not just hate a character portrayed on tv. She is a HORRIBLE actress, it is not just a character, and she brings nothing to the shows) and as many times as they stick it to their core audience, I just can't leave. Wrestling is so engrained in me, that no matter what they do I will still watch. And it sucks, because I just love wrestling. What I feel right now is a feeling of being taken advantage of that I've never felt before. They take advantage of the fans that just LOVE WRESTLING, and won't stop watching because of teh Benoits and Jerichos, the RVDs and Guerreros. There is no reason to take advantage of us, yet they do it anyway for some reason. Your product is lacking right now...embrace your core audience, don't drive them away. I'm not sure what my point exactly is, but I felt the need to vent. Whether you agree with me or not, I'm sure this is how some of you feel.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Do what I do. Ignore Smackdown. Seriously - I know it has Angle and Jericho, but as much as I like them they aren't doing too much worthwhile. Raw has been infinitely more entertaining, and I'm on the verge of just not caring anymore about Smackdown. At all. If Jericho and Angle actually start doing worthwhile things, like not jobbing to Cena, maybe I'll tune back in.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I read the spoilers and if anything strikes me as worth watching...I make a point to do so. I haven't made a point to watch smackdown since the Angle/Edge cage match. I can't tell you the last time before that...probably pre-split when RVD was on both shows. But RVD, Benoit, Booker and Eddy are the only reasons I watch Raw. Go figure.
Guest M Nyland Report post Posted July 17, 2002 i haven't watched SD in a few weeks...but that is cause I work.... I also have wrestling burned into my skull...luckily I am getting into puro now so it doesn't matter what they do... I'll still have some wrestling to watch! Guest chirs3 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I'll be tuning in next week for Rey's debut, and if ever I hear of a good Hurricane match I'll watch... but like bps21, I just look for the good spots and watch those. And if there's something in between? I read.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 17, 2002 well there are some alternatives to WWE if you can ween yourself off of the weekly Sports Entertainment fix. Its not the only show in town, if you live in the big city I am sure there is some indy doing shows on the weekends. If not then save whatever money you intended to spend on WWE PPV and give NWA TNA or UFC a try. And if you need WWE then buy used DVDs from the local store and invest in a Disc Doctor to fix any imperfections on the DVD.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 17, 2002 See, wrestling is engrained in my blood. This..whatever the hell it is...isn't. Professional wrestling is meant to entertain, and Monday's Raw did that. SmackDown hasn't most weeks despite a better roster. And now with the world's worst non-porno actress back on TV...I'm tempted to put a hole through my TV but I'd miss Whose Line Is It Anyway
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Everyone go read my TNA primer and week 5 preview so you can talk yourself into trying out something new this week.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Everyone go read my TNA primer and week 5 preview so you can talk yourself into trying out something new this week. Well, some of us can't afford 10 bucks every week, which is why fucking up our free shit pisses us off.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 WWE ppvs are 35 bucks a month for 3 hours. TNA is 40 a month for 8 hours. Guess which one got cut from my routine this month?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 17, 2002 WWE ppvs are 35 bucks a month for 3 hours. TNA is 40 a month for 8 hours. Guess which one got cut from my routine this month? My theory still holds. I didn't get every WWE PPV when they were hot simply from a financial standpoint either though. At least I don't have to worry about that after reading smackdown spoilers now. Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted July 17, 2002 After the SD spoilers pissing me off and convincing me not to buy Vengeance I think it is time for a NWA tryout.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 17, 2002 There is a sportsbar that plays all the WWE(F) ppvs, and doesn't charge a cover. Illegal or not, me and my friends go and it helps fund our other interests like Pride, Puro, NWA/TNA.......not as if we would buy all the WWE ppvs anyway, but $35 less a month helps~! Guest Raven_Effect01 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 After reading the Smackdown spoilers and going into an explosion last night over who the Smackdown GM turned out to be, I think my alternatives now will probably be Raw and NWA-TNA on Wednesdays.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I'm with you guys. Smackdown being taped is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me, cuz I don't have to watch that shit every week. And as for NWA, I'm sure the're trying, but at 10 bucks a week they are 100% assured of going bankrupt. Especially if Russo is employed in any capacity. I would think about checking out NWA if I had to pay 40 bucks for PPV's. But WWF sucks so bad, I rarely watch them anymore, and when I do it's for free at a bar or something. Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Vengeance is actually shaping up to be a great card. Unless something catastrophic happens, it should be the best WWE PPV since WrestleMania X-8. I really have no problem with the current product, other than Stephanie returning to TV and the killing of the nWo angle. Their prices is a whole other story.
