My thoughts: They need to focus more on rap music and less on topics such as fashion and politics. I think it would be a lot better if they did more in depth interviews with rappers, the articles about rappers now are most of the time just a day in the life of such and such rapper and some of their thoughts. And then there is the record reports, which is whole different story. They seem to be getting more consistent of late though, which is a good sign, but for awhile their it was getting fucking really bad. I don't remember if was kilarmy or gravediggaz, but they had a review of there last record and gave it 3 mics becasue they said it did'nt have a radio friendly single, are something along those lines, which was just bullshit becasue all of the rap music that gets a lot of radio play is fucking garbage, but anyways the record report has always gotten a lot of critism, they just need to hire me to review all the records and set people straight on true hip hop. Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Yea, I read it when im at work and I would say out of the Big 3 Urban music mags its number 1 by default because they also cover the Hip Hop culture and politics (less on the Fashion) on a consistent basis which I like. They never seem to give out a real bad reviews and since Benzino owns them they always pimping his shit like "Black Friday" for a year now when the fuck is it coming out? Guest Still Fly Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I would have to agree with you on that. The Source really needs to focus on the music. I got the lastest issue which was ok.
