What has the wwf got against

Recommended Posts

Guest cynicalprofit

I have been pondering this now since I started to download WCW matches, didnt really watch WCW for a long time.

But Tenay is nothing short of a walking history book and he obviously does his homework beforehand. I mean he's kicking major ass right now on NWA in terms of announcing its not even funny, yeah the other guy(s) really suck, but Tenay is just really really good. So why hasn't the WWF picked him up, atleast just to screw with NWA? Does he have major heat with someone? I mean he sounds better then Ross, yeah call me a heretic see if i care, and hes a gazillion times better then cole, so why haven't they picked him up.

CHEAP SHILL

Go to the literary folder and read my horrid review of sex lies and headlocks(it was late)

I haven't seen NWA-TNA yet so I can't comment on that aspect of his announcing but going by what I heard from him in WCW it's probably because he was boring as hell. He's probably the most knowledgeable announcer I've ever heard but he called his matches with the excitement of a librarian. He had no charisma and just had the ability to shout out move after move that no one had ever heard of before. But then again anything would be better than Michael Cole on my TV every Thursday.

The guy is, from what ive seen, alot better then jr. He sounds excited and knows how to call a match.

what more could you ask for in announcer.

He sounds like a woman, for one. Of course, that never stopped Michael Cole...

Tenay is way beyond the Wwf.

The Wwf likes Michael Cole-type announcers. No analyzing, no intricate knowledge, no furthering the story of the match, no history, no insight. Just “Shill this, Damn that, say 'High Impact Manoeuvre’ if a move is anything other than a body slam - But what ever you do, please, for the love of god, don’t educate the fan.” And guess what? Their Announcers don’t have credibility. The announcer is the most important part of the show IMO, they are the storytellers, the eyes, the ears, the mind of the fan, they are, for all intents and purposes, the guide.

Just watch Halloween Havoc 97 to see how fucking good Tenay is. He commentates on Ultimo Dragon vs. Yuji Nagata, Jericho vs. Gedoh, and Eddie vs. Rey. The amount of shit this guy brings up in unholy. He talks about the J-cups, he talks about When Worlds Collide, he talks about things that actually give the wrestlers credibility and gives the ‘sport’ credibility. He is the perfect ‘3rd Man’ on the announce team.

1st man - PBP, he is the storyteller.

2nd man - Colour, he is sort of the foil for the PBP, he is the outsider and offers a different opinion.

3rd man - ‘useless knowledge’

I didnt see the nwa ppv, just a downlaoded a few matches, and ive seen the jericho gedo affair and the rey eddie match, and yeah, tenay knows his shit. He's seriously better then jr. They need to pick his ass up. He could you know make ppl care about a match by going over its history...which heaven forbid wrestling has.

i don't like tenay and here's why. he can call a match just fine but the tone in his voice and pointless shit he talks about makes me cringe. i did like the team of mike tenay and scott hudson though and I think the wwf really missed the boat in signing him.

I think he commands himself nicely as the lead announcer on TNA.

In WCW he was the third guy...I think he is very credible and entertaining when he is in charge of the booth.

Not only does he call matches well...but he seems to care very much about the product...and it is showing in his enthusiasm.

He's better than anything the WWE has.

They should have put him on SD! a long time ago.
