Can someone give me a few details on continuity from the cartoon and movie.

In the movie, Cobra Commander was turned into a snake, how the hell did he come back for later seasons?

I know Serpentor was killed in the comic book, was he also killed in the series?

I seem to remember Destro having a gold head and leading Cobra, any reason to how he got to be leader?

(My memory is shakey, but) I seem to remember that they changed Cobra Commander back into a human after a few episodes with him as a snake, but for the life of me I can't remember how. I don't think Serpentor was killed in the series, and Destro had a silver head and never lead cobra.

Destro was Cobra Commanders back up

He made all the evil weapons and gadgets and shit

The Baroness turned CC back into a human.

I think Gold Head Destro was a DIC storyline taken from the Comic Book.

Didn't Cobra Commander have Serpentor turned into a lizard or something like that? This was soon after Cobra Commander was turned back into a human.

Too bad the DIC episodes didn't follow the comic book any more closely than updating the characters outfits for the action figures. The comic had a lot of great storylines that would have been great on the cartoon. Like the imposter Cobra Commander and the Cobra Civil war, and the CC vs Destro war.

Okay, let me give you the info.

The original G.I. Joe animated series was produced by Sunbow. Those episodes are the ones currently being shown on Cartoon Network.

After the series ended, we got the G.I. Joe movie. In the movie, yes, Cobra Commander was mutated into a snake.

Then, in 1989, DIC Animation created a Joe miniseries titled "Operation: Dragonfire". In this miniseries, Baroness mutated Cobra Commander back into a humanoid (he was pretty much left a snake-like humanoid, hence the reasoning for his new "Battle Armor"). By the end of the mini, CC gained revenge upon the usurper Serpentor by mutating him into an iguana. I'm not making that up.

DIC went on to create two seasons of new Joe cartoons. Neither were as good as the original series, IMO, but they were fun, and they introduced a lot of the newer characters. Road Pig kicked ass.

With the overwhelming popularity of the new Joe comic book, a new series would be prime.

BTW, just for fun - anyone remember the Transformers episode that featured Cobra Commander?

It wasn't "Cobra Commander" his name was snake, but his voice was done by the same guy who did Cobra Commander's voice.

Anyone see the new 2002 Cobra Commander action figure, compared with the other ones of Cobra Commander, he looks like he was on steroids.

And, of course, the same guy did the voice of Starscream...

Anyone know where you get any more GI Joe action figures? I mean the old school small ones, not the evil foot tall ones those bastards put out.

It was Cobra Commander.

True, the character's name was "Snake", but everything else was CC.

That wasn't the only crossover. Flint was in one of those Transformers toons, only as an old man.

For G.I. Joes, check http://www.yojoes.com . They have tons of links there for you. Also try http://www.smalljoes.com and http://www.storeon44.com . For info on the new Joe figures, check out http://www.joesightings.com .

What can I say, I'm a Joe mark.

Thanks to a few of the links provided by Vyce I finally have the answers to my questions.

I didn't imagine Destro leading Cobra with a Gold Head, in the comic Destro got to lead Cobra when he found out that Cobra Commander was an imposter who was wearing his armor, the fake CC gave Destro control to keep his mouth shut. Because the comic was how the figures were updated and the show was built around the figures, in a round about way the comic controlled the series.

Does anyone know if the same guy did Cobra Commander's voice in the DIC shows? If he didn't, then it can be taken as the imposter CC. I know that the original CC's voice was used for those stupid commerical's that really depicted war between Joe and Cobra.

I looked up GI Joe on IMDb, and it seems that Chris Latta did Cobra Commander's voice in all of the old GI Joe shows... even on said episode of Transformers.

And so, the imposter Cobra Commander theory is lost.

Has anyone else been watching it on Cartoon Network lately? The episodes seem to be in order, and a few things get cut here and there, but overall.. it's not bad.

The CN ran the 5 parter where Serpentor was created a few days ago, and on Thursday they where having an older episode on again. Maybe they don't have rights to anything after those episodes.

That would suck. If they don't maybe they could get Hasbro to give them the rights to use the animation on the new action figure commercials.

I just watched that episode of Transformers with Cobra Commander in it. That's one of my favorites. I loved the way they treated him like a Nazi war criminal and had him in hiding and everything.

Just because his name was Snake in the doesn't mean it wasn't him. It was obviously him. He can't go around and call himself Cobra Commander, he's in hiding, not to mention that would be kinda gay. I mean come on, you can't figure out that Snake would be a codename for somebody usually named Cobra?
