Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Call me crazy, but I know there are many people on the internet that do NOT wish to have taped wrestling shows spoiled by having the results or certain surprises just thrown in their face with no chane to avoid them. I mean, why isn't that a rule here? It's either someone is trying to be a retarded ass shit, or they are too stupid to realize WHEN they are posting a spoiler, and in all seriousness... ...if you don't REALIZE when you post a spoiler, I don't think you are bright enough to be posting on a web forum in the first place, ass. For example... http://www.thesmartmarks.com/forums/index....118546297b0e073 ...in that topic title, he INTENTIONALLY spoils a huge part of Smackdown, and that does not make people happy at all. Also, Dames, you know what happened to ME last night, so take that as you will. Again, call me crazy, but I feel that this could lead to some people not posting here if this kind of crap is not brought to an end. Sure, it may anger some people for having yet another chance for them to prove themselves an asshole, but in time this WOULD end haiving spoilers posted without warning. It's quite simple... ...if anyone does it, especially intentionally, then ban them from posting here. By doing that type of sh*t it is not showing any respect or regard for their fellow posters at all. As for people who are too stupid to realize when posting a spoiler, when they do it once, warn them, and then if they do it again, kick the the hell out also. Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Oh boo hoo, no ones perfect. I think everyone desveres a warning.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I think the minute a spoiling thread is up the mods should delete it.
Guest Jerome Drake Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Yes it should be deleted, but they shouldnt ban them.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I agree with Drake unless they're a repeat offender.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 17, 2002 I'm sorry, but intentionally being an ass hole by posting a spoilier is just wrong. What is a possible excuse for that? If a meeting point must be met, then at LEAST warn whoever does it, and then if they go against the rule, then take further action.
Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Warn them and delete the thread. If they are a repeat offender ban them.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 17, 2002 Yea, I think a one-time warning and deletion of the thread is best. I know I never read spoilers unless I know I'll miss the show, and while it doesn't bother me a great deal to know a little bit (e.g. what matches were going to take place, without knowing who won), knowing a major storyline angle or match ending early takes the fun out of it. Guest EQ Report post Posted July 18, 2002 I agree. The person who created that thread should be warned. The thread should be deleted. If he does it again, he should be banned. He says he didn't do it on purpose, but how could he not have realized what he was doing?
Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted July 18, 2002 The problem is, a great majority on this board, when they see the spoilers rush here to bitch about the results, good or bad. They need to bitch, I have realized this. Nothing will make the majority here happy. That is why they post them. --Rob
Guest EQ Report post Posted July 18, 2002 They can bitch... but they should do so inside the actual post, and clearly mark the thread title. Spoiling Smackdown in the title of a thread is just not cool. Some people like to watch it on TV without knowing what's going to happen. Either that, or create a 'Spoilers Board' or something
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 18, 2002 ...or create a 'Spoilers Board' or something That is what we did at WrestleForum. We created an ENTIRE BOARD just for the purpose of discussing spoilers and the such. It worked for us, and I see no reason why it wont work here. Either way, either created a spoiler board or ban anyone who does it more than once if it's an accident, but I STILL say anyone who does it just to be an asshole should be banned on the spot. He says he didn't do it on purpose, but how could he not have realized what he was doing? Thus my other point, that if you are not smart enough to REALIZE it, then you are not far along enough in your mind development to even post on a message board. Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 18, 2002 "if you are not smart enough to REALIZE it, then you are not far along enough in your mind development to even post on a message board." You're giving the internet community an awful lot of credit, aren't you? I can see making a separate forum for spoilers if it's absolutely necessary, but I don't think someone posting a spoiler without spoiler warnings should be banned. Spoilers are all over the 'net, and I think it's a general presumption that most of the fans read them before the show. Besides, it's a wrestling show we're talking about here. This isn't Gene Siskel spoiling "The Crying Game" with a glib remark during one of his movie reviews.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted July 18, 2002 I'm pretty sure there will be less spoiler threads now, Downhome. I think people will be more careful next time.

Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 18, 2002 Jeez, I guess I won't be able to discuss the LIVE Smackdown I'm going to next week. Why wouldn't you be able to? I'm not asking to not discuss spoilers, just WARN us before you do. I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with that, as you seem to be a great poster from what I know man. Also... ...how will you discuss the LIVE Smackdown you are going to? I assume you mean AFTER you get home, right?

So it's okay as long as we put "spoilers" somewhere in the topic title?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 18, 2002 Here's a way to start a thread that spoils Smackdown- I can't believe this happened (spoiler)
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 18, 2002 So it's okay as long as we put "spoilers" somewhere in the topic title? Of course, just don't scream out spoilers. Try to show the posters who do not read spoilers some respect, and much to popular belief, there ARE many of us. Here's a way to start a thread that spoils Smackdown- I can't believe this happened (spoiler) That is exactly right, thank you. To take it that much further, if it is annouce that the IC title will be defended, and you put in your title "Title change on SD!", then that also is a spoiler, and should NOT be posted. Just think about it people, this isn't rocket science here!

Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 18, 2002 The best was... Topic: SD! GM revealed SPOILER You're not going to like it Hmmm... I wonder who they can be talking about. Exactly, I mean, who DIDN'T know what that one was all about? I just feel this kind of stuff should be put to a stop, as we need to keep this forum as clean and as great as it has been. Believe it or not, but things this simple can lead to a forum loosing respect, and posters.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted July 19, 2002 The best was... Topic: SD! GM revealed SPOILER You're not going to like it Hmmm... I wonder who they can be talking about. Oh, come on. That one was so vague that it didn't give away anything, other than it was a person who probably isn't a smark favorite.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted July 19, 2002 That obviously gave it away as Steph.
Guest EQ Report post Posted July 19, 2002 That obviously gave it away as Steph. Yeah... and the thread that spawned this thread was even more glaringly obvious than that one... At least with that one... you could try and see how that could be obscure enough to not be a spoiler.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 19, 2002 "Try to show the posters who do not read spoilers some respect, and much to popular belief, there ARE many of us." I try to watch Smackdown spoiler-free also, especially since I review it for the site. It's not that I think WWE can pull a big shocker right now; I just want to watch it like I watch Raw, and not have my opinions influenced because I know what happens next. Having said that, though, it doesn't piss me off to see a spoiler. It's courtesy to say that you ARE spoiling something, but I don't get too upset if I stumble across a spoiler that isn't labeled as such.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I'm the kind of guy who is pissed off for hearing a spoiler for a match like Jericho Vs. Cena, much LESS the biggest angle in all of the sport at the current time. Now, with all of this said so far... ...*awaits TSM staff to "speak on this"*. Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted July 19, 2002 If someone who posts a spoiler and doesn't warn that its a spoiler doesn't deserve to post online, what does it say about the jackass who went ahead and READ the damn post? As soon as they read the words opening match or opening interview they can just hit BACK, banning someone for not posting a warning is ridiculous. I'm gonna get flamed for this, or maybe it should be SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! I'm gonna get flamed for this
