Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 20, 2002 How many of you really think WWE is capable of surprising their audience anymore? Given the shoddy state of their writing, and as many rumors as we on the 'net get to read, it's very hard to think of something they could do that would be a surprise. I prefer to watch the show unspoiled myself (especially for recap purposes), but I certainly don't think anyone who spoils a show without warning should be banned. I prefer to watch the show unspoiled myself (especially for recap purposes), but I certainly don't think anyone who spoils a show without warning should be banned. Whoops, my bad, for a moment there I thought I was a Pro. Wrestling fan and loved to see matches and angles and everything on the show just unfold before me as they happen, without previous knowledge of the outcome. Wait a second, my bad again... ...that IS what I am. I'm sorry, but if someone intentionally spoils ANYTHING on the show for me, I'm pissed like hell. Does no one get my point in this? If you ban someone for flaming outside of NHB a couple of times, then it makes sense to ban someone for being an ass hole and spoiling a show. I don't want to sound persistant, but if something isn't done to at least SUGGEST people not to spoil stuff, then I will be forced to not come to this place that I love so much from Tuesday-Thursday. I do not want to do that, but for the last month, I've had two shows spoiled so far and I'm sick of it. Can you please just tell people not to do it, as it's the least you can do. If something isn't done about it by those in power, I will do something about it somehow, and I'm CERTAIN that there are many that will join me in this cause. Sincerely, ...Downhome... Guest M Nyland Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I stand up for Downhome based on his original rant in this thread. People should be careful about what they post from late Tuesday night until 8 pm EST on Thursday. If they post a thread about SD then they should throw out the word SPOILER in the title or risk ruining the show for some fans that want to watch everything happen as it happens...even if it is taped. This last week was supposed to be a very surprising week and more than one person's day was probably spoiled by certain threads. Now I do read spoilers, but I make sure that if someone wants me to talk about them that they ask me first and tell me they know or that they want to know... I usually don't post in spoiler threads either...so I'm not an offender there... I think that banning should be a 2nd offence kind of thing...just like most other things on this board. But if more than one complaint is heard about a particular poster or thread...then something should be done to make sure the other posters are kept happy... because 90 percent of the posters here visit TheSmartMarks...and if a poster gets pissed they may not want to visit that site anymore...and what you really want is MORE VIEWS of your stuff.......site traffic helps it thrive... Keep everybody happy by doing the right thing...even if it isn't the popular thing...

Given the shoddy state of their writing, and as many rumors as we on the 'net get to read, it's very hard to think of something they could do that would be a surprise. I think this is a pretty crappy excuse for letting spoilers slide. Many fans don't overanalyze every thing they see on WWE TV. Maybe they didn't bother wondering who the new Smackdown GM was. I know the spoilers thing is not that big of a deal, but it really isn't fair to those who want to see the show without knowing what's going to happen. Besides... how about a temporary ban. Say 1 week. It's not that severe, but it gets the point across. I'll even be happy with a 1-time warning before the ban. Also, I really think creating a spoiler board will either reduce this problem significantly or eliminate it completely. How about getting rid of the 'Testing Grounds' folder or just creating a new board?
Guest -Cutthroat- Report post Posted July 20, 2002 The solution to this whole thing is to make a Spoilers Folder...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I always keep any information I obtain from watching smackdown early in the folders for Smackdown spoilers.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I see the thread in WWE, and I am very grateful that you have done so, however... ...it doesn't say you have to, nor does it say that anyone will be in trouble for not following what you say. I'm sorry for being a hardass, but, I'm just pointing that out. :D
Guest DrTom Report post Posted July 20, 2002 "it doesn't say you have to..." That would be that, despite my advanced Jedi powers, I can't actually make someone do something. I've been trying to learn from Yoda, but he keeps saying, "On this concentrate you must," and I spend the rest of the time shaking my head. "nor does it say that anyone will be in trouble for not following what you say." I think that was clearly implicit by the heavy use of caps (which I almost never do), and the "Very Official Request" designation. Besides, I don't think people constantly need to be threatened just so they'll do what's right.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Besides, I don't think people constantly need to be threatened just so they'll do what's right. Then so be it, I will retreat back into the shawdows, but if this doesn't but an end to the problem, I will return, bwahahahaha... ...also, people do not need to be constantly thretened just so they'll do what's right, you are 100% correct. HOWEVER, when giving someone a rule to follow, or other such annoucements, one must also give a punnishment for said rule. If one is not given, then it can be taken as if you do not follow it, you will not recieve any punnishment. Also, when it comes time TO punnish someone for breaking the rule, it can be quite complicated and cause many more problems than needed when you dish out the punnishment, because... ...whatever you do to them at that time, they will deem it unfair, as they weren't aware of a/the punnishment when the rule was given.
