Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 17, 2002 Report Posted July 17, 2002 Hey, some of you might say this doesn't belong in No Holds Barred, but it's not like I need tech support or b.s. like that, it's just that my mouse is annoying the holy hell out of me today. For the past few weeks the ball has been pretty loose, and so it's been being pushed in when I move it. So, today I finally unscrewed and put it back in to try and fix the problem and it just made it WORSE! Dammit, now I have to use my laptop's stupid touch-pad thing... I HATE that! So yea, anyone else want to bitch about their equipment, use this thread.

Guest Gendo Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Since we are bitching about mice, I would just like to add a nice "fuck you" to microsoft for redoing the original wheel mice and intellimice (not the optical ones, the good old hardcore wheel ones). The old mice you used to be able to play soccer with and drop bricks on, but the new mice that are in the tiny packaging are made out of this ultra cheep 1mm thick plastic and if you blow on the wheel it scrolls you 80 lines. Microsoft means Quality my ass. evenflowDDT - after you unscrewed your mouse did you clean the inside with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol? That usually helps a lot.

I didn't use any rubbing alcohol, but the main problem with my mouse isn't that it's dirty, it's that the mouse ball is too small, and since it's not snug in the middle of the mouse, whenever I move the mouse the surface pushes the ball back into the mouse and it gets stuck there, which means I can move the mouse, but since the ball is still stuck "inside" the mouse and isn't touching the surface, my pointer doesn't move. Yea, guess I am pretty poor for not being able to afford your mouse. I would have, and would just head up to Rite Aid or somewhere and get it, except I spent my last $13 on a $15 tape... do the math...
Guest J*ingus Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Optical meeses aren't that great. I have one, and it gets too dirty to work properly if you look at it funny. Then when you move the mouse, it has generally no real effect on where the cursor goes.
