the thread Metallica fans where afraid to start.

Alright... I've been a Metallica fan for awhile now. I've stuck with them through the Load and ReLoad (of crap) years and I even defeneded them and took their side on the whole Napster ordeal. but this.... THIS is an alltime low, and sadly, Metallica has finally got to me.

Apparently, while working on the new album, those brain surgeons formerly known as Metallica decided to do a song with some rapper named Ja Rue.... well, thats it for me, folks.

I no longer acknowledge them as a band after 1989.

what does everyone think about this? I know it was posted once before, but was kind of ignored by all the Metallica fans? <_<

Shit like this makes me wonder why exacted Jason Newsted left the band? I heard he left due to hearing problems (?) but nowdays he is on the road with his new band, Echobrain.

edit: fixed a few minor errors

do you know the name of the new single featuring Ja Rule so I can download it and make a decision on whether or not it falls into the Rap is Crap catagory?

The only Metallica record I've ever really liked was the Black Album.

And I believe the song is called "We did it again"

I don't mind the song... but I don't think hardcore Metallica fans are going to be too happy

Er...sampling Metallica riffs does not make a song a "collaboration."

It isn't a Metallica song, it's a JA RULE song. I highly doubt their albulm will be similar or even have that song.

please Metallica has the midas touch, even if it is faded, even at their worst, they are still so much better than all your other popular bands...especially Incubus

So, is Kid Rock exempt from rapping over "Sad but True"?

Hardcore fans don't like bands if they do something like cut their hair. :) Much less if they tried something..y'know..different..

JA RULE?!

I was not aware of this and now I still wish I wasn't....i don't want to hear Metallica with anything other than an orchestra backing them...

I think every album they did had its good and bad qualities...

The Black Album was too good for it's own good...there is not one bad track and that made everyone's expectations of them high and when Load came everyone went "Wha-huh?!" and left them behind...

Too much of a good thing can be quite bad...

Wow, Somebody stop the fucking press.

It was a Ja Rule song with Metallica using a tune that they wrote SOME TIME AGO.

The funny thing? Virtually EVERY thread in the music folder has a Metallica reference, despite all the 'I stopped listening to Metallica after Black Albulm' comments. Thus I ENCOURAGE Metallica to further 'SELL OUT' because IT'S WORKING! Hell, dress up as fairies and sing lullabies to a retarted childrens clinic, you've got the people talking!

I heard about this since March...and even I posted a little review about it a while back.

What they should do is fire Bob Rock, who has put Metallica in the tank

I heard about this sometime last year, and I couldn't give 2 shits: Metallica is still the greatest band in the world to me. Hell, I even liked "I Disappear," and I still do.

As for The Black Album being too good for its own good...no. While I agree the songs are pretty high quality, it pales in comparison to every song off of Master Of Puppets.

Fuck GNR :D

The reason every thread in the music folder has a Metallica reference is because in every thread in the music folder we're talking about how Metallica pales in comparison to the great GNR. If that's the kind of publicity you want, go ahead. There's no such thing as bad publicity, right Mr. Rotten? Wrong :P

Anyway, I find it funny that Metallica fans have no problem with their band collaborating with a symphony but run in fear when they work with a rapper. Some people are so biased...

Kid Rock decimated Sad But True, and that was hardly a collaboration, and Laz is right Metallica IS the greatest band in the world, and have produced 4 classics (Kill-Justice) and 1 superior Album

continuing the comparison to GnR, how many albums did they make before sucking...1

I was trying to imply that the majority of Metallica fans hate rap with no basis, and that's why they immediately dismiss the collaboration with Ja Rule, without enabling them to try something that "radical" (which in fact happens all the time now because of the popularity of the rap/rock genre), but had no problem accepting the "radical" pairing of Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony. That's all. Honest.

Oh, and just to keep it going... GNR r0x0rs mine, yours, AND Metallica's s0x0rs!

I have respect for a sympony ochestra too...because it takes YEARS of work to get to that level of playing...

Rapping...on the other hand...doesn't take much skill (you don't see Lil Bow Wow playing the french horn or something) ...and is nothing but a drum machine and a rappers voice...

I like complexity in my music...

I guess that is why Skyclad kicks so much ass

Umm... I only see 4 good albums. Kill, Ride, Master and Black. Load was FAR from great. S&M is a retread.

Use Your Illusion could be 2 seperate albums. There is also the Spaghetti Incident.

Guest What?

Personally, I like GNR more than Metallica, but that's not taking away from how good of a band Metallica is.

Also, if Met wants to colab with Ja Rule, let them. It's their choice as musicians and hey....it's only this one time....right?

Six monthes later:

Murder Inc. Presents: Metallica....on tour with Ashanti, Charli Baltimore and Ja Rule. The Resurgence of Rap/Rock Tour 2002
