I know the Green Goblin is Norman Osbourne. Does this make the Hobgoblin Harry Osbourne? Or does Harry assume the role of Green Goblin leaving the Hobgoblin as someone else?

I've never really known

Hobgoblin I was Ned Leeds. Hobgoblin II was Jason Macendale. I'm not Spidey expert, but thats what I think it is.

And note, it is Hobgoblin, not Hobogoblin. Though that is a far more amusing visual image.

Maybe Harry has been a Goblin at some point, I don't know.

Harry WAS indeed a Green Goblin after Norman died.

Well, Norman's sort of not dead now, but Harry is.

Uh....anyway, yeah, after Norman died, Harry wore the costume for a while and fought Spider-Man. But eventually he died.

You need a scorecard to keep track of all the Goblins.

Roderick Kingsley?

I don't remember that at all. I thought I remembered the entire 'Who the heck is the Hobgoblin?' story arc from the 80s. Flash got unmasked, then proven to not be Hobgoblin, then it was sort of a ~shocking swerve~ and it was Ned Leeds, which didn't make that much sense, except that it was Betty Brant's (ex?)-husband, and therefore he'd been kicking around for awhile.

Roderick brainwashed Ned so that everyone would suspect him as being the Goblin. When in fact, Roderick was the original. Check out the Hobgoblin Lives mini-series.

Here's the thing about the osborn goblin line works.

Norman started as the green goblin, after qwen stacys death, spider-man had a fight

with gg and during this fight he was impaled on his damaged glider. Due to drug indused hallusinations, harry became insane and became the green goblin. after saving spidey form a burning building, he died of a heart attack (as memory serves). it was found out later on that norman wasn't killed due to the goblin formula. he came back, and has done all he can to make peters life hell

I don't know about any of you guys, but I always thought the Hobgoblin was cooler than the Green one.

So is that a retcon from 'Hobgoblin Lives', then?

Yeah, the original plan was to have Leeds be the real Hobgoblin, but then they realized later that the way they killed Leeds off really wouldn't have killed the super-strong Goblin, so they reconsidered.

And does anyone else think that having Norman Osbourne come back is one of the worst fucking ideas since the Clone mess?

There have been worse ideas. I personally think that Hypertime is one of the worst ideas ever, since it kind of reopens the continuity errors that Crisis and Zero Hour was trying to fix.

That's not to say that it's not a stupid idea, but what do you expect, given that it was tacked onto the end of the Clone Saga?

That's one thing I don't understand about Marvel and DC both over the past few years. Why do they feel the need to reinvent the wheel and hit the Russo Reset button every few months? Spider-Man has been overall the worst offender, but X-Men, Superman, and Batman have all been merrilly hacking away at their histories as well.

Hey, Colossus is STILL dead. That counts for something.

But, I cannot and will not forgive the Mysterio snafu:

In Kevin Smith's "Guardian Devil" saga (of Daredevil), the man pulling the strings was revealed to be Mysterio. In what amounts to a spectacular moment, Mysterio cannot deal with being beaten again, and commits suicide. Chilling, no?

Here's the thing: Mysterio came back the next month in a free line-wide serial about smoking pot. I shit you not.
