Guest LesnarLunatic Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 My candidate for this would be Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. This is a bit of how I would do it. First off, Bruti doesn't get his face torn off in a parasailing accident. He wins and holds the IC title until Wrestlemania, where he loses it back to Hennig. After WM7, Beefcake and Hogan team for a bit to fight and finish off the Iraqis. Around May 1991, Beefcake and Hogan begin to disagree during matches and all that. After a Slaughter/Hogan blowoff, Beefcake comes to the ring to congratulate Hogan, and then he attacks him. Beefcake declares that he has had enough of being Hogan's little buddy and he will get revenge on Hogan by taking two things, his title and his hair. Setup to Summerslam, Brutus the Barber v. Hogan, Brutus' hair v. Hogan's title and Hogan's hair. Of course, Hogan goes over. Still, it's better than extending the damn Iraqi feud past when they surrendered in 91.
Guest BigTim2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 So....................Halloween Havoc 94 doesn't ring a bell...does it...
Guest Diesel Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 You just got told, but can you blame him, who watched wcw in those times?
Guest kingkamala Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Can you imagine a Mr. T heel promo. (Mr. T wearing pinstripe suit and sunglasses) Mr. T: I pity the fool that cheers Hulk Hogan and doesn't respect Mr. T
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 i've seen mr. t get really legit mad on howard stern's e! show and it was too funny for the people on the show to handle. he looks mean but hilarious at the same time.
Guest JAxlMorrison Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Um.....Edge? Nah really, picture Edge hardcore turning on Hogan and just totally annihilating him in a retirement match. He could gain the heat that HHH did when he retired Mick Foley, maybe even more.
Guest Frankie Williams Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 i've seen mr. t get really legit mad on howard stern's e! show and it was too funny for the people on the show to handle. he looks mean but hilarious at the same time. Mr. T got a mad a couple of times on Howard. The best was when Howard spoke on a story where, aledgedly, T was getting head in a limo before an appearance for some sick kids. The kids apparently rushed the limo and opend the door and caught him. It was one of the funniest segemnts Ive heard on the show.
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 There is a difference between Brutus Beefcake and Brother Bruti. One got his face sheared off in a parasailing accident. They are not the same.
Guest Grenouille Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 It may have been a stretch, but JYD's act got old really quick as a face and may have been able to get over as a heel. Just imagine the classics that JYD and Hogan could have had.

The kids apparently rushed the limo and opend the door and caught him. It was one of the funniest segemnts Ive heard on the show. howard got him pissed by saying something about his mother and he really took offence to it. BTW I look at Ed Leslie in two ways. First is Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and how I was a huge mark for him growing up. I loved the guy right until he left for wcw and even sent him a get well card when he got into that sailing accident. I have loved Brutus Beefcake from the minutes I saw him, which was wrestlemania 3. his face turn and then helping roddy piper cut adrian adonis's hair made me an instant fan. I followed all of his feuds closely (I was only like 9 at the time) and actually got to meet the guy. The second way is all the other shit he has done with his career in the wcw and beyond. from the dungeon of doom to the disciple of the nWo everything he has done in wcw sucked. i mean what kind of gimmick is the zodiac for a guy who was one of the most consistatly over wrestlers in the wwf. his latest installment of brute force sucks as well wherever he is wrestling these days.
Guest AxelSmash Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Brutus turning on Hogan in WWF would neve rhave happend, cause once he turned face, he was set. JYD was too good (face wise) to become a heel, Snuka was out of main event scene around WM time, and everyone else has turned on Hogan......except Bret, but they never really were buddies on camera.
Guest alfdogg Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 So....................Halloween Havoc 94 doesn't ring a bell...does it... Actually, no... But Starrcade '94 does...
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 although they had a match you could probably include the ultimate warrior on that list. they were pretty good buddies on camera and never had a heel vs face feud.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 So....................Halloween Havoc 94 doesn't ring a bell...does it... Actually, no... But Starrcade '94 does... I think he was referring to the actual turn moreso than the match, both of which sucked IMO. Remember when it was supposed to be Hennig under the mask?
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Not Old School, but I wonder...had the Rock turned heel on Hogan after WrestleMania and NOT joined the nWo, would he get a face pop or heel heat? Of course, a post-match promo with the return of "Trailer Park Trash!" would just make my day.
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 the heat from wrestlemania carried over to montreal for raw and the hatred for the rock was there. when he came out he was booed and then when he was in the ring, posed, and said finally, they heat was huge. the fans didn't want to go along with rocky's catchphrase and booed when he started it. then the nWo came out and ruined everything by keeping the rock a face to team with hogan.
Guest papacita Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Am I the only one that marked for Zodiak????? Where is MarioLogan when we need him?!
Guest dreamer420 Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 what the hell kind of a character is that? i tell you. it was some quick crap that was put together for him, when the wcw could have cashed in if they could have gotten the rights to the brutus beefcake name. it was the name change that sent his career into a downward spiral.
Guest papacita Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Zodiak was a stupid character (especially considering how they completely ignored the fact that he was the Butcher), but the character was so bad it was funny. Actually, up until he became the Booty Man, I liked most of Leslie's WCW stuff.
Guest papacita Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 BTW, why couldn't they just call him Brutus?
Guest AxelSmash Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 It would ressemble to much to his WWF name owned by WWF. Hence The Boss was dropped so Ray Traylor(?) become the gurdian angel and so on. Avalanche was the closest WCW could get to the Earthquake name since WWF owned that too, so thats why everyone couldnt compete as there old gimmicks when swopping sides.
