Guest Razor Roman Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I work at a college... because we don't have enough bandwidth currently to support all the students using it, Kazaa and all the other P2P programs are blocked. Is there any way I can get around it?
Guest starvenger Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Probably not without help. Your sysadmin(s) probably has a backdoor somewhere so you can either ask for their help or try and figure it out yourself.
Guest swan Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Not a good idea. Napster was all the rage at the college I went too a couple years back and they did the same. Seems to me you risked some kind of criminal charges if you tried to by pass the system somehow. Get a box and broadband at home, much safer.
Guest swan Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 Another option is if you know somebody on the IT staff you could have them open the port that allows P2P programs. I think you'd have to have a login to do this.
Guest Razor Roman Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I work in the IT department. The ones who could give us access won't tell us how to get around it.
