Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted February 19, 2002 With all the talk about the NWO on this board I felt the need to explain what was so great about the original angle. First, it was completely different compared to anything WCW had done before. Sure, WCW had always been a heelish fed with factions like the Horsemen and the Dangerous Alliance, but the NWO was the first time that the heels attacked literally anyone. The NWO didn't care who was a face and who was a heel. They'd attack Luger, or they'd attack the Dungeon of Doom. If you weren't NWO, you were the enemy. Admittedly the angle was sort of a sham from the get go, since Hall and Nash were obviously saying that they were coming in from the WWF to destroy WCW. By the time everyone realized it was bogus no one really cared because it was entertaining. Another great aspect of the NWO is that there were several jolting images that are hard to forget. Can anyone forget Nash powerbombing Bischoff through the stage, or tossing Rey Misterio into the trailer? Who could forget Hogan's heel turn at BATB 96? Some people say that the angle was played a long time ago, but that is mostly because it went on for much too long. See, this angle in the WWF has to be blown off and the NWO has to be wiped out for good. And it seems to me like Survivor Series is a good time for such an angle, or maybe next year's WM.
