Guest Midnight Express83 Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 No order but my favorite: "Take On Me" by A-Ha. First cool video ever. Made watching videos worth it. "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson. Enough Said. "Hipotize" by Notorious B.I.G. Tinplate of amost all rap videos since 1997. "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" by Busta Rhymes His coolest video to date, altough "Pass t...." is a great one with Harlem Nights in it. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper If for no other reason, but to start the major wrestling boom/golden age of the 80s. Since I am a MAJOR wrestling fans, I can't shit on this video at all.
Guest Flyboy Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 I don't have a "Top 5", but without a doubt "November Rain" is my all-time favorite.

Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 1) Pearl Jam - "Do the Evolution" (great animation by the Spawn guy, that not only fits thematically in the video, but basically presents everything wrong with human history and evolution in under three minutes) 2) Smashing Pumpkins - "Tonight, Tonight" (an amazing tribute to "A Trip to the Moon", which in and of itself is a fantastic journey, that is one of the few ways I can still awaken my inner child) 3) Nine Inch Nails - "Closer" (it's dark, but it's not just dark, it's got some slightly disturbing, but incredibly effective imagery) 4) Korn - "Freak on a Leash" (hate the band, song is OK, LOVE the video... the CG-bullet effect is actually pretty inventive) 5) Michael Jackson - "Thriller" (such an epic scope that calling it a simple "music video" is almost insulting, but what else can I put to round out this list? A fun mini-movie that adds a lot to the song, and pretty much made MTV)
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 18, 2002 Report Posted July 18, 2002 they made a vid for Cemetary Gates???

Guest Kinetic Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 I can't think of five that wouldn't be excessively Radiohead-heavy. "Just" is probably my favorite video ever.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 No order. Korn - "Freak on a Leash" - I'm not a big fan of the band, but damn, that's a good video. Green Day - "Walking Contradiction" - Because Green Day is God. Radiohead - "Paranoid Android" - This video makes absolutely no sense, but god damn does it rule. Wallflowers - "One Headlight" - I don't know why I like this one as much as I do... I just do. It's neat. Foo Fighters - "Hero" - Again, I don't know why. I just like it.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted July 19, 2002 Report Posted July 19, 2002 Stabbing Westward--"Shame" SOMEBODY BEAT ME TO IT!?!?!?! Damn...didn't think there were that many SW fans around these parts. Guest LooseCannon Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 Stabbing Westward--"Shame" SOMEBODY BEAT ME TO IT!?!?!?! Damn...didn't think there were that many SW fans around these parts. Anyways, this is my favorite video of all time. Awesome song, great little "movie" within the video...loved it to the extent that I bought a Sony promo video with this on it off Ebay for $15. Smashing Pumpkins - "Tonight, Tonight" Excellent video for an excellent song. 3. Iron Maiden - "The Wicker Man" Just for the fact that Eddie comes back and takes over some middle-aged guy in a Volkswagen. 2. Michael Jackson - "Thriller" Zombies...dancing...and the best zombie makeup this side of Return Of The Living Dead. 1. A-Ha - "Take On Me" Most inventive and innovative video ever. It's the kind of video that you can't recreate the magic of, even if you tried.

Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 I forgot "Coffee & TV" by Blur. Great video. Oh yea, with the little milk carton guy, right? Yea... that was a pretty cool video. Hmmmm... does the little milk carton guy beat a CG-bullet causing random havoc? I also forgot about "Smack my Bitch Up", but I wouldn't necessarily call that a good video so much as an important, controversial photo. Once you know the ending, it kind of ruins future viewings because you're stuck looking for any "clues" to the ending within the context of the video (hopefully this doesn't spoil the video for anyone who hasn't seen it, but the hands just look too masculine throughout the whole video for me to buy it without any other "clues").
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 I haven't seen many music videos, but I'm going to mention the only two I've ever seen that enhance a great song into something greater, melding visuals and music perfectly into an experiance. 1. "November Rain" - Guns N' Roses 2. "By The Way" - Red Hot Chili Peppers Those are the only two music video's I like for any reason other than boobs.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 My faves: 1. Primus - Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver. Les Claypool is a genius. A hilariously bizarre video. 2. Wu Tang Clan - Triumph. Seriously, I have friends that refuse to even listen to rap, and by showing them this video, I have made them Wu Tang Clan fans. GREAT video. 3. Metallica - One. The most disturbing images in a video I've seen, it paints a dark little picture that goes along with the song perfectly. 4. Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle. This one is more of a personal choice, as it was my first introduction to GNR. But, still, a good video. 5. Beastie Boys - Sabotage. I saw this video once, and was converted to the church of Beastie almost immediately. It's just an amazing video. Honorable mentions: GNR - November Rain Metallica - The Memory Remains The Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl Korn - ADIDAS Korn - Freak On A Leash Limp Bizkit - Rearranged (Hey, it's a good video) Primus - Mr. Krinkle Primus - Jerry Was A Race Car Driver
