Guest brokentusk16 Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Though I haven't read the comic yet, I'm starting to look forward to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I really want to see Preacher made into a movie. Michael Wincott would kick ass as Jesse Custer. This NEEDS to be done into a movie. Also, have Ben Browder or Bruce Campbell play Deadpool. The merc with a mouth has to have a movie.
Guest Maven's Eyebrows Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 How can you guys forget about the greatest superhero ever? THE HURRICANE! Yeah!
Guest EQ Posted July 22, 2002 Report Posted July 22, 2002 Agh, I don't want to see a Punisher movie. He's such a boring, generic character, who would probably be better off as an anti-hero in Daredevil 2. You don't like Punisher? I think he can be almost as cool as Batman.

Nah, I was never into The Punisher because he just seemed to me to be a guy with a lot of guns. Batman's at least got lots of cool gadgets. I'm all for an Iron Man movie, but leave Ghost Rider alone! I can't see that movie being anything other than campy crap, and I love campy crap, but Ghost Rider was my 2nd favorite comic book character as a kid and he deserves better than that.
Guest starvenger Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 He's not really a hero, but apparently Keanu Reeves is gonna play John Constantine in a Hellblazer movie.
Guest DrTom Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 "Agh, I don't want to see a Punisher movie. He's such a boring, generic character..." Read Grant Ennis' Punisher work. You might be surprised. I always liked the character, but no one did him justice like Ennis did. I'd have to say Iron Man would be the next superhero movie I'd want to see made. Tony Stark is a very dynamic and interesting character who would be amazing in a good script. After that, Green Lantern, but only with Hal Jordan and none of the other pretenders to his throne. On another note, are there any plans for a Flash movie? There was a short-lived TV series several years ago, but as far as I know, the character is still popular.

I have all the Ennis issues, and he's still a boring, one-dimensional character who doesn't really do anything interesting except shoot up criminals. The difference is that Garth gives his supporting cast (Detective Soap, Ma Gnucci, etc..) fun personalities to play off him. Also, he throws in a lot of good comedy and sick shit to add a bit of levity to the fact that you're reading a series about well, a guy who doesn't really do anything interesting except shoot up criminals. I suppose a Punisher movie could work if the screenwriter included some Ennis-like elements, instead of a humorless Death Wish-style "Punisher vs. Evil Crimelord" movie. You know, that's exactly what I thought that Constantine was missing for years: the ability to put on a wooden expression and mutter "whoa!"
