Guest Big McLargeHuge Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Man, you guys are POOR. No offense. "Don't tell me that you can't put together $35 (He actually said $1,000) because there is NO such thing!" I think maybe this is why the WWE doesn't respect the Internet fans...they aren't very good customers. When I go to a WWE show, the fans I am sitting with have paid $200-500 (Ticketmaster) and even as high as $600 (eBay) per seat, and in addition to that they are buying T-shirts -- usually multiple T-shirts -- as well as programs and other merchandise. They all order the pay-per-views religiously, they shop at Shopzone, etc. The Internet fans are generally too bitter, too young, too poor, or all of the above to make the WWE any $$. And the WWE is a business. It seems like a lot of Internet fans just bitch about what they see on free TV, and spend what little money they have on puro tape trading. Flame me if you want, that's my two cents. So marks who will and DO buy everything Vince throws at them, are good customers? And smarks, who are cautious about what they buy (despite many of us who buy the t-shirts/DVDs/etc) because they can't shit money, are bad customers? We judge, but the majority of us are still here. We're fans too. MY two cents.
Guest candie45 Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I don't order it because I just go to a bar/food place where they show it. Anyway, I don't dish out money for pay perviews anymore because they just haven't been worth it. I mean, why buy it when you can either A. Go to a bar B. Watch some other TV or wrestling tapes or something if you really need a wrestling fix, or C. Find out what happens on the internet. $35 is a lot of money when you think about how much it adds up to. $410 per year you can save... Sometimes it's just not a matter of having the money in your hands, it's just the fact of do you really want to spend that money on a product that you can see 2 times every week that you may not even be enjoying, or get something you really need. And not everyone can afford to throw away $35 a month. If we're talking about live events here, I will pay a good amount of money. Our Wrestlemania tickets were $400 per ticket, plus the $50 per ticket for Axxess. We bought them all off of Ebay for some damn good floor seats. I paid $200 total for 2 tickets, 2nd row ringside when Smackdown came here to Rochester in April. So I'm not cheap when it comes to live events.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 19, 2002 No. And Stevey...bad analogy. Let's rework it. Let's say a movie currently in theatres is free on TV except for the last part of it, which is ridiculously overpriced to view. However, we can check out reviews for it from people who have seen it, and find out what happened. If it sounds good, then we can decide if it is worth our money (ie replays). Okay, still doesn't work. However, only Rumbles and WM really seem to be must buys to me. And even if you're fairly wealthy--why waste 35 bucks? If you're so eager to throw it away on a card that's a big "all signs point to suck" on the ol' 8 ball, then why not give me some of those spare bucks. I'll PM you my address. Check or Money Order only. I don't take American Express. Hell, I'd even spend it on the PPV if you ACT NOW!!
Guest TheSmarkzone Report post Posted July 19, 2002 You can't comment on the product without seeing the pay-per-views. Bottom line. What you see on RAW and Smackdown! is only 1/2 of the big picture. It all comes together on the P-P-V. I don't care if you don't order the pay-per-view, just don't try and say that the product sucks. Because you can't rate ANYTHING unless you've seen it in its entirety.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 19, 2002 You can complain about the product if you don't by the ppvs. Jesus christ. If the TV is SOOOO bad...and the angles are non-existent...and they push shitty people... Then NOT ordering the ppv is the only way to convey to them that they are doing a shitty shitty job. Guest TestKick Report post Posted July 19, 2002 PPV's are a culmination of what happens on free TV... if what happens on free TV doesn't please you, then it's your decision to watch the PPV or not. I do agree that people should not comment on what happens on PPV's if they don't watch... but it's ignorant to say that people should not have comments in any form about WWE, if they still watch the other programming. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I think people have every right to comment about a ppv if they haven't seen it. They can comment on everything except match quality. Who goes over...that's fair game for all.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted July 19, 2002 No Molly, no reason to watch Vengeance.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Well since we have a sportsbar here that orders the PPV with no cover charge and no drink minimum, Me and DangerousA and a few of our friends will all be at the bar knocking back a few and watching Vengence. Seriously though if I had to pay for it, I'd say HELL NO. To me, right now, NWA/TNA is more worth the price than a WWE PPV. We could all just split the cost like we used to, but even sometimes still it doesn't seem like it is worth it, and no we aren't cheap, just that WWE can put on some crappy PPVS now and then. We usually go by the card, that is how we have done it for the past few years, but now we don't have to worry about buying them~!
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Why the hell should I buy this ppv? If I wanted to I could pay $35 for it and but why should I waste the money when the product for the last few months has sucked, the previous couple of ppvs (which I did order) have sucked and this ppv does not exactly blow me away. So why should I reward Vince McMahon and his moronic product with my hard earned money when they don't earn it. Basically you are saying I should say "Oh what the hell I don't really want to see the PPV but here is my money anyway, money that could buy me two dvds or a month of NWA take it anyway" As for the movie analogy if your view is that Raw and SD are previews for the PPV that means if I see a commercial for a movie on TV that looks like it absolutely sucks I should go see it anyway otherwise I would be a bad moviegoer who is too cheap to scrounge together 8 dollars. Just because some people have the WWF PPVs higher up on their priority list doesn't mean others have the same priorities and to say that you can't comment on the product without seeing the ppvs is complete and utter bullshit lets see here Raw 2 hours x 4 shows between ppvs = 8 hours SD 2 hours x 4 shows between ppvs = 8 hours Velocity 1 hour x 4 shows between ppvs = 4 hours Heat 1 hour x 4 shows between ppvs = 4 hours Confidential 1 hour x 4 shows between ppvs = 4 hours So lets see that comes out to 28 hours of non ppv time compared to a 3 hour PPV so I cannot comment on the product when I pass on seeing a 3 hour PPV that does not look like a good card after watching 28 hours of product umm ok. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Hello, My name is FeArHaVoC and I'm a PPV-A-HOLIC. I haven't missed a PPV in almost 2 years. I have to get it. It eats at me just to think I might miss something good/great. I'll be pissed if I read the dirt sheets the next day, or on this board, and someone says "RVD did this and that" and I missed it. Or even Brock will pull out the "Shooting Star Press." I know WWE always shows the recaps but it doesn't do it justice without the "Drama" of the whole match. Screw it! I'm lame! Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Smarkzone, you can sit and call me a poor bastard all you want, but my parents literally have like $100 and that's it right now. My grandma is dying so we've had to spend a lot of money on stuff for that, plus the regular bills for food and so on. In short, no.
Guest I Fear Hogans Air Guitair Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I only have to pay $20 cause i live in Australia (Australia Rules) and 2 of my friends are chipping in $5 each so $10 sounds good to me.
Guest NazMistry Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I think i'l, fork out the money if only to see the FIRST EVER Booker T win on WWE PPV. That's got to be worth the price alone. It's like a Hogan clean job, it happens but once a decade (not anymore). However if Booker T doesn't win, then I am going to be almightily pissed.
Guest jester Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I was strongly leaning towards buying the PPV, but this whole HHH/Bischoff/Stephanie thing scares me. They could easily take up a half hour with all the long "dramatic" pauses between speechs, stare downs, ring entrances, etc. I don't want to pay for that. It's something that should be handled on free TV. If they don't handle it quickly, I'll bet the audience will go down or hostile. And don't call me a mindless hhhater. Nobody should be given huge blocks of time during a PPV to decide what show to be on. I'd be saying the same thing if it was the Rock. jester
Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Pay per views are expensive for me, but this looks like it could be a super pay per view. I may try to con my parents into getting it for me as a few days early birthday present. I've only order 2 pay per views before, and usually only if they are really good shows...so that tells you something.
