Is not giving Eric Bischoff power a mistake?

The WWE hired Eric Bischoff only as an on-air personality. Their hope, as with all their other signings, is to boost ratings and turn the business around.

But I don't think they realize that Eric Bischoff made his name by stealing talent, creating the NWO, and kicking the WWF's ass in the ratings. He didn't do this because he was a good announcer. He didn't do this because he turned heel and joined the NWO. He did this by his ideas. WWE seems to be making a point that Eric will not be writing or booking the shows. But if they simply use him as an on-air talent and continue with the same horrible bookers and writers, this is another project that is doomed to fail.

I think Bischoff is gonna be under a close eye from Vince, Management, and other Wrestlers right now. This is a true test for him.

I think, if he keeps his nose clean and acts like a Pro and a team player, then maybe they will do more with him and start using him as a writer or booker, etc.

Seeing as how Vince is allegedly only interested in creative control over the ME scene, Bisch could be given the oppertunity to try and rebuild the midcard.

That actually would be kind of convenient, as it would help the company without Eric's biggest problems ("Let's put Jay Leno in a main event match!")

According to what I've read the NWO wasn't even Eric Bischoff's idea. It came from a storyline in Japan. The idea to use the storyline came from Terry Taylor, the black and white colors from Paul Orndorff, and the material was written mostly by Hall and Nash.
