Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Rock

Triple-threat matches always have the potential to be clusterfucks, but Angle is (IMO) the best worker in the WWE today, Undertaker has been solid as hell as of late, and Rocky has had *great* matches with Angle in the past. I'm gonna predict *** 1/2-****.

 

Rob Van Dam vs. Brock Lesnar

I think that this will be the sleeper match of the night. I think that if Brock is going to SummerSlam, he has something to prove in this match. I'm gonna go way out on a limb here...****. That's right, ****.

 

Edge/Hogan vs. Storm/Christian

As long as Edge wrestles the majority of this match for his team -- which he probably will, since Hogan is the hot tag man -- I expect good things. ** 1/2 - *** is my prediction.

 

Bubba/Spike vs. Eddie/Benoit

I predict ** 1/2 - ***.

 

Booker T vs. Big Show

I don't expect much of anything out of this match. DUD-* is my prediction.

 

Jamie Noble vs. Billy Kidman

I expect a solid **-** 1/2 cruiser match, nothing spectacular.

 

Chris Jericho vs. John Cena (Tenative)

If this is in fact booked and Jericho doesn't sit it out, I expect at least ***.

Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Rock

This one confuses me. As an SJL writer, I know it's an absolute bitch to come up with a good Triple Threat match... however, nearly everything Angle touches turns to gold. With that in mind, I'll go **3/4. So what if it ain't gold.

 

Rob Van Dam vs. Brock Lesnar

STYLES CLASH~! Seriously... this should be Lesnar/Angle, but regardless. Depending on how well Robbie bumps, and how well Brock sells (he could make Van Dam look like the shit or the suck here), this one could be anywhere from *-****. I'll be simple and go ***1/4.

 

Edge/Hogan vs. Storm/Christian

Expect Jericho or Edge to secure an Anti-Americans victory here. Assuming we get a lot of Edge action, I'll be generous with ***1/2.

 

Bubba/Spike vs. Eddie/Benoit

I can't see this match going above ***.

 

Booker T vs. Big Show

Uh...? Thought-out match. Doesn't mean it'll be good. *1/2 at the absolute most.

 

Jamie Noble vs. Billy Kidman

Didn't these guys face each other in WCW? No matter. I go for ** to be safe.

 

Chris Jericho vs. John Cena (Tenative)

I believe this is booked. However, not getting SmackDown! does not allow for me to make good predictions on that side. Regardless, from what I remember of Jericho and have seen of Cena, expect a fast-paced match that could be called 'Back 2 Basics 101'. ***.

UT/Angle/Rock: Angle-Rock as a PPV main is an easy ****, probably ****1/2. Take * away for both of them having to carry UT at various points, and you end up with *** - ***1/2

 

RVD/Brock: If they keep forcing Brock to wrestle as a boring 80's monster, I'll say **3/4. If they let him open it up a bit, then it's an easy ***1/2.

 

Edge/Hogan v Storm/Christian: Hogan's role is perfect right now: stand on the apron, let someone with talent get beat up, come in, pop the crowd with his 80's offense, and go home. Since the other three are good, and Hogan's being used so well, I'll say ***1/2.

 

Bubba/Spike v Eddy/Benoit: Spike's no D'Von. **1/2, maybe ***.

 

Booker/Big Slow: With the NWOld dead, what does it really mean if Booker wins? Bah, Slow's a big monument of shit either way. *

 

Noble/Kidman: If they let them wrestle an actual cruiser match, with more than one or two token highspots, it'll be good. I say they don't, though, which limits this one to **1/2 tops.

 

Jericho/Cena: If it happens, ***.

It has the oppertunity to be amazing if both men attempt to pull off their best arsnal. Hopefully not much interference and Brock pulling off the Shooting Star Press. Give them at least fifteen-twenty minutes!****

Just a good all around match hopefully. And maybe Edge will turn heel which would be an amazing turn of events. ***

 

Bubba/Spike vs. Eddie/Benoit

I'm still depressed Benoit is in this match. Hopefully the RIGHT people will go over clean and move on up the card. And I don't mean Bubba and Spike. **1/2

Ehh, at least it has some heat. *

Only 6 matches? At first you'd say "Thats gonna make room for some long matches! Gee Vengeance will rock!" Then you get the annoying truth that, for some ungodly reason, HHH/Steph/Eric will get a farking 15-30 minutes worth of promo time, probably the reason why there won't be Jericho vs Cena or a women's title match.

 

My expectations, Prediction in BOLD

 

Rock Undertaker/Angle/Rock: ***

-The problem with this match is that no matter how great of an effort Rock and Angle put out for this match, Taker is going to drag it down at least *.

Rock vs Angle straightup would have me expecting no less than ***1/2 easy. Some serious miracles will have to occur to see this touch ***, but heres to hoping for a few..

 

Lesnar/2xDQ RVD/Lesnar: **1/4

-This match is going to be the indication of how well the Summerslam match will go. If Lesnar goes over 10 minutes, I would be shocked to death. I expect at least one Heyman run in to eat up about 2 minutes, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more just to pad the time. In the end, you know RVD isn't winning, but thats pretty much taken for granted.

 

Storm/Christian Edge-Hogan/Storm-Christian: ***

-This match and the fact that Jericho doesn't have a match make me think that Jericho will interfere and cost Hogan and Edge the titles. Should still be a good match regardless.

 

Knoble Knoble/Kidman: **1/2

-**1/2 is low, I really want to say *** but I don't think its going to get more than 7 or 8 minutes, and thats barely more than your average ** cruiserweight match on Smackdown. I was originally going with Knoble to lose the title, but I realized that they would probably rather have Rey Jr face Knoble than Kidman...

 

Benoit/Guerrero Bubba-Spike/Benoit-Guerrero: **1/2

-If it was a straight up tag match, *** easy, but this being a Table match means that it will probably get out of control early and stay that way. You know Spikes gonna take a big bump, but I think the novelty of a Spike bump has worn out.

 

Big Show Booker T/Big Show: DUD

-I wish that I could say something besides DUD, but the stipulation and the fact that Big Show is involved tell me this is going to be a stinker. Given Booker T's less than stellar PPV record, I'd be more willing to bet right now that the Moon would fall out of the sky before he wins a PPV match. Just be thankful hes wrestling on the PPV, cause he hasn't the last 2 or 3..
