Guest Drury37 Report post Posted July 19, 2002 Does anyone other than me remember when Duke "The Dumpster"Drose found the 100 dollar bill in the garbage can?Does anyone know what the point of that was? Thanks.
Guest AxelSmash Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I saw it. It was after a match vs. Steven Dunn I think on Superstars during Lawler/Droese mini feud. BTW, it is spelled DROESE.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted July 19, 2002 I think it was supposed to tease Droese joining the Million Dollar Corporation. If I remember correctly the WWF Magazine had an article teasing him joining too.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Heh...you can't spell "DESPERATE' with most of the letters in "DROESE".
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Sorry about not spelling his name correctly but I defintely thought it was on WWF Raw. Thanks.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Yeah, WWF Magazine even had a picture of The Dumpster wearing a suit, with his hair slicked back in a ponytail. Too bad they never went anywhere with that angle.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted July 20, 2002 actually it's probably a good thing he didn't get pushed higher than he did.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I believe that was the same RAW with HBK/Bulldog Post RR1995. I figured it was intended to be a cute little ploy to tell fans "That it is good to clean up the garbage." Never would've figured it was the start of an aborted angle. BTW, did anyone else hear that one fan yell "Noooooooooooo" when Duke slipped the C-Note into his pocket?
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Aw come on, he wasn't that horrible. It's funny on Keith's rant on the rumble 96 where he had that match with hhh and Scott made a point of how many moves he did not using his knees.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 21, 2002 I liked what a nice babyface he was. Back during Bob Backlund's heel reign of terror, there was an incident when Droese finished beating a heel jobber on Superstars, then Bob came out of nowhere and put the crossface chickenwing on the jobber. Droese ran back into the ring to save him, only to himself fall victim to the chickenwing. Today's babyfaces wouldn't bother going back to save the jobber...at the most, they'd probably go back and beat up both of them.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 22, 2002 don't ya love those friendly well meaning garbagemen?
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 22, 2002 Duke wasn't that bad, he was just stuck in a cartoon gimmick. Given the chance he could have been a viable mid-carder.
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted July 22, 2002 Yeah I always thought he was decent in the ring but he always got saddled with fellow "comedy" wrestlers like Bastion Booger or getting squashed by any body above the lower mid card
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 22, 2002 Heh...you can't spell "DESPERATE' with most of the letters in "DROESE". There's no O in desperate.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 22, 2002 Duh..."most" doesn't mean "all".
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Duke wasn't that bad, he was just stuck in a cartoon gimmick. Given the chance he could have been a viable mid-carder. Yeah, that "Home Improvement" match he had vs. TL Hopper the plumber didn't do anything to solidify his status as any kind of threat to a title. However, a win over HHH at IYH in Feb 1996 would of been HUGE for Droese as it would have been easy for HHH to get his heat back just for being a prick. He was squashed at the next ppv anyways. In the case of Droese, "The Dumpster" gimmick could have been easily faded out if given half a chance. Ahhhhhhhhhh, I dunno.
Guest AxelSmash Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Im Pretty sure Droese found the 100 bucks on Superstars or Challenge. He rarely wrestled on Monday Night Raaaaw.
