Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Greetings from under the 200X black Resistol hat while wondering if anyone threw a better right hand than the late, fabulous Texan from Waxahatchie, Hoyt Richard (Dick) Murdoch. In a move to make our Talent Relations Department more cost effective, we have taken the steps to cease our affiliation with Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA) in Cincinnati. Also, we are in the process of reducing our talent roster, especially within the developmental area. We have released Race Steele, Jon Heidenreich, Jason (EZ Money) Broyles, Steve Bradley, Mike Sanders, Jason Sugarman and Kim Nielsen thus far. Each of these talents has demonstrated the desire to become successful in sports entertainment, and if they all continue to work at it, I will not be surprised if each and every one of them do succeed. Not a single talent on our list has been a problem in the locker room, nor are any of them unmotivated or lazy. Our office will be meeting or speaking with all the released talent again next week and will assist them in attempting to get booked elsewhere. Companies in Japan and Puerto Rico have expressed an interest in working with us on this matter. We want to be as fair as possible with all these talents and there is not one we would not consider working with again in the future. Les Thatcher has done a wonderful job of working with us in Cincinnati. I hope all the men and women who have worked with and for Les realize just how fortunate they are to have worked with the veteran. Les loves our business and is a superb mentor for these kids, and we do and always will value our relationship with him. Les is a friend and will remain so. We will be focusing our efforts on Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in Louisville, Ky., and after all the roster cuts have been made, we will consolidate all the remaining talents there. OVW, which will soon be moving to a new facility, will feature about 20 developmental talents at a time and each talent will be evaluated thoroughly on a weekly basis and then will be officially reviewed every 90 days. This will provide better hands-on instruction, more timely feedback for the talent and better communication in general. John Laurinaitis will coordinate this effort with the help of Tom Prichard and Bob Clarke, who will both be based out of our Stamford, Conn., offices. Several of our road agents will travel to OVW on a weekly basis as well to better evaluate and work with these prospects. is that all of it?

Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Where's the rest?
Guest 4Life Report post Posted July 20, 2002 The roster that is eventually put in place in OVW should really be extraordinary as time goes on, from where I sit. We fully realize that the future of our business is the development of new stars and it looks as if the future World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars are going to largely be OVW alumni. The bottom line is that we are consolidating our developmental area to be more cost effective and to put a better system in place to better communicate and evaluate these young talents. Our goal is to drastically improve this entire area of our department and continue to provide a steady stream of future WWE Superstars to RAW or SmackDown! for our fans to enjoy. Also, The Island Boys, Shannon Moore, Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli, Bull Buchanan, Shelton Benjamin and Victoria are all being called up and will become a part of RAW of SmackDown! as soon as possible. Mike Awesome and Chris Kanyon will also start back on the road in the next few days and will be teaming simply to give them the opportunity to get their timing back and work on their conditioning. No plans are being made to team the two but I assume that is always an option. Jackie Gayda and Linda Miles will be based in Louisville for practices and TV but will also be booked on the road for WWE at times. Both these young ladies have significant potential, but each needs a lot of ring time and practice sessions. They will get an abundance of both in the immediate future. All the talents being called up have potential and we all hope they tap into such. WWE has reached terms to new agreements with Batista, John Cena, Nidia, Linda Miles, Maven, Jackie Gayda and Molly Holly. From what I have been told, this group of Tough Enough III contestants has some real bright prospects. I have not seen them in person as of yet but I plan on doing so later this month in Los Angeles. The 25 finalists are apparently very impressive. I have read where WWE has been meeting or had a meeting with Dusty Rhodes in our Stamford offices recently, which is not true. We did have a nice visit with the "American Dream" on June 10 in Atlanta when we were there to produce RAW. Randy Orton sustained a mild concussion last week and has been held out of action as a result. An MRI was done as a precautionary measure, it came back fine and Randy has been cleared to return to work. Kane, who along with Terri did a terrific job promoting WWE in Australia last week, is likely to be able to return to work in two weeks. His torn biceps is almost healed and this big athlete will be welcomed back with open arms when he returns. Triple H's elbow is healing very well, and he will be able to resume physicality in a couple of weeks or so. Chris Nowinski chipped his tooth at the last TV taping. Goldust tweaked his knee Monday night but seems to be OK after being fallen upon by Planet Stasiak. Bubba Ray Dudley has stitches in his lip as a result of Monday's match. Steven Richards has several staples in his head from the Singapore Cane Match with Tommy Dreamer on last week's RAW. I am very proud of how hard Steven is working for WWE and that he has gotten himself in awesome condition. Kevin Nash will be staying in Birmingham, Ala., until further notice, much as Triple H did, to work with the HealthSouth folks on his torn quadriceps muscle. The 43-year-old veteran has had 22 surgeries in his life, but none will be more challenging to overcome than this one. Kevin is adamant that he has not had his last match, and I hope he is correct. Nonetheless, this rehab assignment is going to be hell. Maven will be cleared to return in a couple of weeks. He broke his fibula on May 28. Godfather is having neck problems and has been place on the inactive list until he is healthy. Jazz is rehabbing her torn ACL diligently and is on target to return to work before the end of the year. Rhyno is continuing to rehab, is healing well from his neck surgery and looks to be on target for an early November return if all continues to go well. Rhyno is working with a speaking coach in Detroit while he is off to help him improve his verbal skills. We have high hopes for this young man when he returns. All other injured talents are progressing on schedule as previously outlined here. From my perspective, Monday's RAW from the Continental Airlines Arena was a much better program than we have provided recently. (Reminds me of the phrase, "He's the nicest guy on death row.") SmackDown!, too, seemed to be very solid on Thursday night. Also, I thought that Michael Cole and Tazz did a really good job broadcasting the SmackDown! show. With two new "general managers," Eric Bischoff and Stephanie McMahon, hired for RAW and SmackDown!, one would obviously assume that there will be plenty of controversy between the two GMs in addition to some rosters changes for each show. Both these GMs are explosive TV characters, which will, hopefully, add some much-needed sizzle and newness to each show. The "shakeup," as Mr. McMahon described it, seems to have only just begun. Yours truly did an interview this week that will apparently air on WWE Confidential this Saturday night regarding Eric Bischoff coming to work as a talent for our company and my less than positive past with him. I asked if they wanted the truth or a TV storyline version; they said the truth and that's what they got. As a result, I am not sure which, if any, of my comments will air. Bischoff and the "less-than-bright-about-our-business Turner front office," including a fellow named Bill Shaw, treated me and my career very unprofessionally in the early 90s. In hindsight, leaving the paranoia-ridden, mismanaged old WCW was a blessing in disguise. Bischoff made some mistakes with WCW in several areas but he also did many things right, and gave Turner its only true taste of success with their wrestling brand. However, WCW going out of business and being sold for an embarrassingly low price has to also go on his watch. So here is where I stand on this matter; it is very simple and those who know me already know what I am about to say: whatever is truly good for WWE is damn sure good for Jim Ross and his family. Bischoff was brought here, after about a year of talking off and on with us, to help the company, plain and simple. If he does, we win. If he does not, like any of us, he will go home. I hope he makes it and starts having fun in the business again. I do so virtually every day and I would not trade that feeling for anything. Our talents who may have had issues with Bischoff in WCW will be encouraged, as many of us are doing, to put those issues in the past and move forward as positively as possible. Every talent and employee in this company must realize, and I think most do, that our fans are our most important asset and that our own individual egos and attitudes need to be checked at the door. If Eric Bischoff's TV persona can entertain our audiences and help make our shows better, then our fans are the beneficiary and that's always the true bottom line. With the creative changes made this week on TV, it seems like this Sunday's Pay-Per-View, Vengeance, emanating from Detroit, is providing us with the opportunity for a fresh start in many ways. I hope we are all able to rise to the occasion and make this event special. Take care, and I hope you check out Vengeance this Sunday from the Joe in Detroit. I feel rather certain that we are in store for a surprise or two, along with the athletic presentation that most contests should feature. I have a feeling that this event may surprise us. See you here next week! J.R. (BOOMER SOONER!!)

Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted July 20, 2002 WWE has reached terms to new agreements with Nidia, Linda Miles, Maven, and Jackie Gayda And then go and release actual talented people like Mike Sanders,EZ Money and Steve Bradley. And they wonder why ratings are down
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Sometimes I think Ross just mentions, "new young talent" just to mention it. Doesn't his dumbass realize there is plenty of talent right NOW in WWE to provide shows 100000000x better then what we see every week?? It is always good to keep an eye on the indies, but hell, WWE has a couple of the greatest workers overall right NOW, and WWE isn't doing jack shit with them....... So in this case, he isn't "lazy" as much as he is "unlucky"
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I would agree with you if I thought Nash was planning on putting any serious effort into rehabbing. But that's not his style. The less he works...the longer he gets paid to do nothing.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Jackie at least got sent to OVW. In a week where Waterman, Collyer, EZ Money, Sanders, and Bradley get released I can think of two reasons why she wasn't.

" I hate to sound like a HHHater or SMHater (BTW, if that phrase hasnt been coined yet, I'm coining it!! SMHater is MINE!!), but Stephanie is certainly not the "explosive TV characters" that JR has afformentioned. I believe him on Bischoff, but Stephanie couldnt add sizzle to the show unless she was naked in the ring for the whole 2 hours, otherwise she's just adding WHINE to the show. Add wine to a hot pan of oil, it sizzles, but Add WHINE, and you're gonna burn whats cooking.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Manager? Maybe...but if Jackie's that bad, then how bad must Nidia be to STILL not be given a match?
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I hear that Nidia works on her skills outside of shows still...I think that Lance Storm mentioned it in one of him commentaries.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted July 20, 2002 Ahhh--good. Then by the time she gets in the ring she should be pretty damn watchable. And since often times the women's matches are better than a lot of the men's, then one more valuable asset to the division. I'm puzzled though why they didn't give her a TV match earlier, but then AT THE VERY NEXT SHOW after the TE2 finals put Jackie and Linda into matches. Linda's green but isn't too bad...but Jackie's lousy. Yet they wait months to debut Maven, who was still green, and do jack shit with Nidia the whole time. However, from the looks of things with Chris Nowinski, I think they picked the wrong guy. Sure, Chris probably was given more training since, but he hardly at all makes me think of him as a TE guy...he seems to fit in well. Now quit sticking him in matches with BRADSHAW! Yeesh...is their fued over yet?

Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 20, 2002 but he hardly at all makes me think of him as a TE guy...he seems to fit in well. I was thinking the same thing when watching Chris....but I don't really think of Nidai as a TE person either.
