Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted July 20, 2002 For those who don't know here is what's happening in NJ right now. Lyger and Tiger Mask 4 were attacked by Kanemoto, AKIRA, Black Tiger, Gotoh, and Tenzan and de-masked. Lyger gave an interview afterwards and he vowed to take Chono's head off in retaliation. Yugi Nagata has pleged his loyalty to Lyger in this sitution, A few days back, El Samaurai was attacked by Team 2000 and had his maked ripped off too. Does anyone think that NJ can keep this feud hot right now? What can be done to keep it that way?

Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted July 20, 2002 I was wondering why the hell Zach reported that Samy got de-masked by Tenzan. I don't like the idea of mixing the juniors and heavies, as it just leaves everyone worse off when they try it. I guess this could lead to big pushes for those being attacked, but I highly doubt Chono will be jobbing to Liger any time soon. More likely, we'll see Liger going over Gotoh again while the announcers have a heart attack. They'll all be pin balls for Norton by next year, sez I. They do things like this frequently. If you want blatent junior burial, watch All Japan make Hijikata, Naniwa, etc., bitches for Williams and Arashi, or NOAH jobbing out Kanemaru, Marufuji (pre-injury), etc., to guys like Izumida. New Japan's junior jobbing to heavyweights is a lot more minimal than it was during Choshu's era. This year, Gedo pinned the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and Liger pinned Tenzan. I think you're missing the point of my complaint; while I dislike seeing Junior's burried against heavyweights, I think Juniors pinning heavyweights is equally bad, because it's still mixing them together and that is never good, in my book. When a Junior pins a heavyweight (Liger is classified as both, it seems, so he might be the exception, along with Nogami), it is usually put over as "a huge upset" and while it might get them over as an underdog, that's not the way juniors should get over. Underdog heat is the wrong kind of heat, because it makes every match they win seem like an immeasurable task they somehow overcame. They should get over as threats in their own right, not because they can upset some heavies. Just because Juniors are smaller doesn't mean they can't be dominant, or dangerous, and the "underdog who can upset the big guys" image goes completely against that. For it to truly work, they need to keep juniors and heavies completely seperate, regardless of whether they job the juniors out or give them fluke wins. Some say this limits the juniors, because they can't graduate to the heavyweight division, but I can only name a handfull of guys who actually pulled that off when it was attempted anyway, and for every one of those there are about ten that fail. Takaiwa, I'm looking in your direction...
