I don't really have a lot to say this time, I am just currious as to who you do NOT like to watch in Puroresu, who we should avoid watching at all costs, and just the guys who are plain out bad. That is all, see, I told you I didn't have a lot to say!

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Off the top of my head I'll tell you I can't stand Yutaka Yoshie. Worse native heavyweight in NJ. AJ has some offensive wriff wraff in Yoji Anjoh. When I heard he called out Rickson Gracie and Gracie broke him down, I laughed my head off. Mr Pogo is pretty worthless, as is Matsunaga. Matsunaga is a better worker than Pogo, but he also does a lot of unnecessary shit to himself. The Giants (Silva and Singh) also need to go, although I haven't heard from them in quite awhile.

Singh is probably the worste. Nortan and Ka Shin can fuck off, too.

I forgot Norton too. But what's wrong with Ka Shin? I actually don't mind him and really like his super dick character in AJPW.

I usually can't stand stuff with Tamon Honda, except for one tag match match that escapes me right now. ;)

I hate it when they try to copy American style, and copy it badly.

Examples being :

A DQ finish in the Vader-Takayama GHC title tournament match last year

The count-out finish, then restart in the Misawa-Takayama GHC title match last year.

There are plenty of others, and it irritates me when Japan needlessly copies American crap like that.

I haven't seen any of his work in AJPW (mainly because I don't watch current AJPW at all) but from what I've read, none of it is very good. However, the fans seem to be into his character, which is something.

No, my hatred for him stems from his retarded push in the NJ Junior division where he has just annoyed the living fuck out of me every time I've seen him wrestle. From the shitty Europian upper-cuts, the ridiculous crowd brawling, the reliance on low blows for transitions, the stupid metal box, and the fact that he still gets put over as a "shooter" hasn't exactly endeered him to me. The fact that he did all this at the expense of trully brilliant workers makes the offense really unbearable for me, because while there have been much worse wrestlers, none of them shit on guys like Ohtani, Samurai, and Liger the way Ka Shin did.

Tiger Jeet Fucking Singh, the worst wrestler in the world. He makes David Flair look like Dad by comparison.

Oi, I forgot about him. Deffinately a worse Sing than Giant, which is really sad.

Sometimes I hate Antonio Inoki.

I respect him and all that, but he is the most shameless self promoter ever. He really seemed to fancy himself as a legitimate fighter. I remember how infuriated I was when he kicked out of two of the Great Muta's moonsaults, then two of Muta's dragon suplexs, and won with a shitty sleeper.

As wrestlers I hate Norton the most, simply because he was the IWGP Champion. Although he is a mile better than Tiger Jeet Singh.

Just curious...

why don't you like Jado or Tenryu? do you dislike them as workers? characters?

just wondering thats all. :)

I'm assuming you're talking about their present day status. Even then, Tenryu and Jado are far from bad workers compaired to the giants, and Kosh was a very solid heavyweight, and really good junior-heavyweight, once upon a time.

I don't like Koshinaka or Tenryu because out of all the matches I've seen them in, I've only seen one good one out of each of them (Ironicly both are from the 1/4/00 Tokyo Dome show).

Jado I just can't fucking stand him, I try to be open minded but every time I see him on my TV he stinks up the ring unless its some sort of tag match and he's on the apron.

Tenryu/Moth from last year, while over-rated, wasn't a bad match, and was one hell of a performance by Tenryu who busted out a tope at age 50. The G1 Finals from '98 Vs. Hash is also over-rated, but a good match, regarldess. He's also had some true classics Vs. Jumbo a long time ago, too.

Koshinaka did some good work as a heavy in mid-ninties NJ and had a very good series with Takada for the Junior title in '86.

Jado, while rather bland, is still decent in tags and never does anything too offensive, despite how borring he can be.

moth?

if you mean his match Vs Mutoh, i thought it was a fuckin great match.****1/2 IMO

Bah, over-rated spot fest. Just because those guys are old doesn't make a load of basic high flying spots a great match. It's impressive they can do them, and the match was enjoyable, but it was most certainly not 'great' or a MOTYC.

Sorry, typo there. And yeah, I'm talking about the same match. I wouldn't give it anything higher than ***3/4, if that. This has been debated to death, so I'll just say that while many thought it was match of the year, I thought it was the same Mutoh match he always works with more effort on his part and Tenryu pulling out a few crazy moves at age 50, causing people to freak out and say it was MOTY, which it was not.

The one fun Tamon Honda tag I've seen was from January 95 - Jumbo, Baba, & Misawa vs. Honda, Omori, Akiyama. Misawa & Honda square off at one stage, and Misawa breaks Honda's face with an elbow. Literally. Honda goes down in a heap, and when he stands up, there's a big pool of blood where his head was lying. Omori & Jun had to go the rest of the match without him.

Guest PlatypusFool

Hehehe, Honda is only good when he gets murdered and put out of the match... sounds about right!

I thought I would hate Gedo because he makes Harley Race, in his later years, look like Rey Mysterio Jr. But then I saw a three way dance tag match with Jado against the Dudleys and another team, and he ate eight finishers while being quadruple-teamed!!!! My God he is a great bump machine.

Guest PlatypusFool

And he squeals wonderfully like a stuck pig... I think that's a great way to sell submission matwork.

Guest RickyChosyu

Gedoh's stuck pig squealing is nice, though the rest of his selling could be better. It also helps when you've got guys like Benoit and Lyger to kick the piss out of him.

Mr. Pogo but that's IMO.

Yes, he has been in some classic matches but that's because someone was carrying his ass. I don't mark for the sickle. Basically, he personifies everything I take in garbage wrestling.

...though the fireballs are fuckin' cool.

Alright, i may as well say it, Akira Taue. He DOESN'T DO ANYTHING PEOPLE!!!

naw, before you all lynch me i don't HATE him or anything and i'm no purohead, i just don't understand how he's in the same league as Kawada, misawa or kobashi.

Guest Jubuki

Uh, are we watching the same Taue, or are you watching 1990 Taue exclusively? He still has matches that are, on some level, more entertaining than WWE main events. Watch him from 4/95 & beyond, bub. He beats Saturn's ass any day...

Guest BionicRedneck

I think Saturn might get carried by Misawa too.

Taue is average.

Guest PlatypusFool

Let's not have a bad word said about Saturn, he is a great man... Taue I like, but mainly cos i'm a huge mark for disgruntled old men. He has had some great matches, most notably in the CC 95, but I don't think he is, overall, in the same league as Misawa / Kawada / Kobashi or even Akiyama.
