Great Expectations

Ok, I just finished watching it. Pretty cool stuff, Paltrow was too stiff but Ethan Hawke, Chris Cooper and Deniro turned in good stuff. My question is about the ending: What the fuck are we led to believe happens? Is Gweneth still married to Hank Azaria? Do her and Ethan get together? Do they just remain friends? That was a vague-ass ending, with Hawke talking about how "she doesn't know me but I know her" and stuff. Can anybody help shed some light on this one? The ending is pretty much preventing me from really liking it, and I'd like to like it, if that makes sense.
