Guest RickyChosyu Posted July 20, 2002 Report Posted July 20, 2002 This was posted on puroresupower.com by Kevin Bryce: "The UFC guys went to a night club in London called "Ten Rooms" for a party. "One of Tito Ortiz's boys first got in a scuffle and then went outside with Lee Murray's (the trained MMA fighter) friend and had a fight. Tito's friend got knocked out, so Tito came running out to fight the guy that just KO'd his friend. The guy, however, didn't want to fight Tito, so Lee Murray was prepared to fight him instead. Tito punched him first and then Lee basically threw some combinations and put Tito on the floor. "Pat Militech was outside and witnessed it, and some other fighters (along with UFC employees) were also there. "Yesterday I spoke to a couple of friends who didn't even know who these fighters were, but were just passing by the club on Saturday night and got involved. From one description they gave me, I know Chuck Liddell was also fighting and they said that he got banged up as well. "Some background information on Lee Murray: He has been training for around three years over in England and had some fights, but am not sure of his record or opposition though. He was on stand-by for the UFC PPV in London and is going to be on a UFC card some time in the near future." ->This can't be good PR for the UFC in London. The only possitive I can see coming from this is if they use this to build up Murray's reputation so that he can potentially become a draw for UFC events. Not many guys can say they punked out Tito like that, even if it was just a bar fight.
Guest The Son of Sting Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 The story was in the Observer as well. Sounds pretty wild, surprised it didnt make the papers over here (UK).
Guest jimmy no nose Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Is this going to lead to a legal problem? Isn't Tito supposed to fight Shamrock soon?
Guest What? Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Is this going to lead to a legal problem? Isn't Tito supposed to fight Shamrock soon? I don't know what happened, as far as police getting involved, or what legal issues this brings up. It sounds like Ortiz got pretty banged up, though.
Guest The Son of Sting Posted July 21, 2002 Report Posted July 21, 2002 Mike Goldberg managed to talk the police out of pressing charges.
