Guest NazMistry Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Going on the assumption that The Rock is going to win the title tomorrow at Vengeance like the SummerSlam posters and promos suggest, how can Rock losing to Brock be passing the torch as some people have stated? Austin never officially passed it to anyone. And I know Hogan-Rock at WM X-8 was meant to be a 'pass the torch' moment. But how can The Rock pass it on only 4 months later having only been around a total of 3 weeks in between?
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted July 21, 2002 This so called "torch" has become the lamest cliche in pro wrestling, indeed in all of pro sports. How about just saying the Rock is going to put Brock over?...
Guest mach7 Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Yeah, this torch crap is a bunch of BS. They talk like the Rock is 52 and about to retire or something..
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 21, 2002 What I think everyone means is to do more than just put Brock over... ...but to put him over in the right way... IE clean... to begin the Brock Lesnar era...if you will. hmm...
Guest NazMistry Report post Posted July 21, 2002 IE clean... to begin the Brock Lesnar era...if you will. hmm... I can live with a clean win for Brock. But The Brock Lesnar Era? Oh Please God No!
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Brock ain't gonna win clean. I mean for the love of God, Heyman has to unload half of his ECW Anarchy Rulz for Playstation Moveset just to get Brock a 2 count. If he beat Rock clean, I would shit myself then roll around in it out of pure shock and astonishment. Awesome visual there. But yes, anyways, you know Vince: He's a heel, he can't beat anyone clean. Guest Army Eye Report post Posted July 21, 2002 That would suck to beat Rock cleanly just because.. he couldn't beat Buh Buh Ray cleanly in two tries.
Guest Ironman Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Do we really want a Brock Lesnar era? I mean, he's got some crasy moves in the ring and is strong like fuck but do you really want Rock over-selling him and his shoulder-flexing self night after night for the next few years? It gets old. I'd prefer him to 'mature' in the ring a bit more... *aw shit, here comes the HHH logic* But really, if ANYONE is ready, it's Booker T. He knows how to hold the belt because he has been on the scene and knows the bid'ness.

If Brock can't make a big win cleanly then he should go the fuck home. What's the point of being some UNSTOPPABLE BEAST~! if you can't get a win by being your own badass self? He should've destroyed Bubba if they were serious about building him.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Bubba Ray has to be protected though.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 21, 2002 What's the point of being some UNSTOPPABLE BEAST~! if you can't get a win by being your own badass self? Yea, I can't help but think if The Brock had been an unstoppable, no-selling monster that it'd make for some real 5-star CLASSICS I don't get this "passing the torch" nonsense either, because you know once The Rock gets back from his next movie he'd just take it back again. Maybe The Rock can just give The Brock some of his old, worn-out catchphrases since they still get crowd pops.
Guest Brian Report post Posted July 21, 2002 But really, if ANYONE is ready, it's Booker T. He knows how to hold the belt because he has been on the scene and knows the bid'ness. Weird. I actually somewhat agree. He's not in the right position now but if there's one guy who could step up to the world scene, I think Booker's the best choice given an actual build-up of wins. But than again Booker won't get that luxury of having a few wins, so they might as well put it on RVD.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 21, 2002 If Booker T doesn't go over the Big Show, I'm done with the WWF.
