Guest John Dub Report post Posted July 21, 2002 When I was a kid, comics dominated my life. I was there every Wedensday ready to pick up whatever title caught my eye, and was a regular there, everyone knew me and the whatnot, but eventually I grew out of it at 13-14. The only comic I still picked up regularly was Hitman, where I have an almost complete collection aside from that damn Zombie Zoo one...anyways, after that ended, I picked up a few Punisher comics by the same team, and they were good. So in April, I picked up graphic novels to read for the long ride while on vacation and was thorougly impressed, they were great. I even hear they're making a movie about the Welcome Back, Frank storyline (I was thinking "movie" the whole time I read it). But I don't go to the comic store anymore and was wondering if this is a regular title, or just something they did for a few months, and if it's out of print. Any help would be appreciated. Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 21, 2002 They did a punisher maxi-series (12 issues) which you can conveniently pick up in trade paperback form at most any comic book shop, and probably at a Borders / Barnes & Noble, if not online. The maxi was so popular it spawned a regular series, which is still being published now. Ennis & Dillon did the first few issues, and are now back on the title for another run. I suggest picking it up, it's wicked fun.

Just a little anal correction...the Punisher is done by the Preacher creative team (Ennis/Dillon), not the Hitman team (Ennis/McCrea), who have also done a lot of different things together. Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Unless someone turned over in their grave and actually made Punisher readable, I really think they should have curtailed the franchise after Over the Edge. Y'know, when Punisher was sentenced to death and everything. Before that, they had the Punisher, the Punisher War Journal, and seemingly-monthly Punisher specials that started out as very good comics...but eventually turned into drek. You must have missed the whole Ennis / Dillon run. Cause trust me, Punisher is VERY readable right now.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted July 22, 2002 I guess they got all the "meaing of the universe" stuff out of their system in Preacher, because their Punisher run is straight-up sadistic action and deep-black humor.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 22, 2002 Hmmmmm...all right. Can you give me the numbers for said kick-ass run in the Punisher series then, for future reference?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 22, 2002 That reminds me, I still need to buy "Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe"...
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Hmmmmm...all right. Can you give me the numbers for said kick-ass run in the Punisher series then, for future reference? Start off with the "Welcome Back, Frank" TPB (collects the Punisher miniseries, issues #1-12). Then get issues 1-7? (I think) of the current series. Then skip everything between the last Ennis/Dillon issue and the latest one.
