Guest thefrenchargel Report post Posted July 21, 2002 Currently: 1.Dillinger Escape Plan 2.Dying Fetus 3.Cryptopsy 4.Slayer 5.Acid Bath 6.Tool 7.Morbid Angel 8.Primus 9.Black Sabbath (early stuff) 10.Rush Of all time...god, this'll be hard.. 1.Black Sabbath. Heard them first at the age of 7 when messing with my dad's vinyl collection, and it made me want to play music. 2.Slayer. Probably my first real favorite band that I can remember. Kings of thrash. 3.Cryptopsy. Kings of grind. 4.Acid Bath. Melody meets toughness meets the best lyrics I've ever heard. 5.Dillinger Escape Plan. Too sick and complicated not to love 'em. Wicked lyrics too. 6.Tool. The most talented mainstream band on earth, probably the best live show I've ever seen. 7.Nasum. The first grindcore band I ever heard, got me hooked. Also one of the best live acts I've ever seen. They just rip your face off. 8.Rush. Based primarily on talent and influence to me. well-thought out music, great longevity. 9.Pink Floyd. Broke new creative ground. I enjoy their concept albums a lot. 10.Primus. Les Claypool=Best. Bassist. Ever.

Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted July 21, 2002 1. The Pixies - If someone's made a better album than Doolittle, I seriously haven't heard it. 2. Clinic - Their last release wasn't as good as the already classic Internal Wrangler, but its still among the years best so far. 3. Radiohead - The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A. No commentary necessary. 4. Guided By Voices - Pollard could do a little better job of not recording every single song that happens to pop into his head, though I did like it better back in the days when he didn't even bother finishing most of them. 5. Bad Religion - Underrated by just about everyone. Have put out numerous very good albums, without recording any truly essential albums. But between1988 and 1994, they were amazingly consistent in their output. 6. Shellac/Rapeman - If there were one musician I'd give the "genius" label to, it would be Steve Albini. 7. Fugazi - Intense, guitar-heavy, catchy rock, and impenetrably opaque lyrics. They're one of the most enjoyable and thought provoking bands of the past 15 years. 8. Sonic Youth - A little spotty, and a little hard to swallow for some, but they pretty much redefined musical boundaries as the cliche goes. 9. Operation Ivy - Brief but brilliant career. 10. Black Flag - Mostly for Damaged and their pre-Rollins stuff.
