Guest converge241 Report post Posted July 22, 2002 allright some football talk in order of finish afc 1. indianapolis - will rebound this year can beat up on Jax and Hou. offense and defense will both be improved 2. pittsburgh - easiest schedule, smothering defense.. the offense will falter a little this year though 3. miami - talented enough to take spot 2 or maybe one but toughest division in the NFL will affect their record 4. Oakland - someone has to win the west and the raiders should still be good, but not great 5. New england - will get better record than raiders, but slotted at wildcard 1. teams will be ready for them this year as opposed to taking them lightly 6. Cleveland - will just eek by jets, bills, titans off of the running game ne over oak mia over cle ind over ne pitt over mia ind over pitt NFC 1. St Louis - what can you say still th greates show 2. Tampa Bay - weakest divison and should be better than last year 3. Philadelphia - another relatively weak division , the defense will be the best this year 4. Green Bay - couls jump up to 2 if the wr corps click but im not sold on it yet 5. San francisco - should have a great record with that offense, but gets slotted down due to not winning division 6 . washington - theyll win enough shootouts and surprise with the defense to edge out the Bears phi over wash gb over sf phi over TB (another choke) stl over gb sil over phi stl over indy in SBowl

" while i dont agree on the WC (i mean they could and i wouldnt be shocked or anything) Ive been telling everybody (except people in my fantasy league) that dallas D is going to be insane this year and i get "whatever" looks. I got chicago the same way past two years..other teams get all the credit or glamour but there is a better defense. I hate the cowboys , but they are going to have a nice team that is VERY reminiscent of the Eagles on their upturn

Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I am a Skins fan, and believe they can suprise enough teams this year to possibly get a Wildcard spot. We finished last year 8-3 after starting 0-5. I think every aspect of our team is better than last year besides QB, which is bad, yet at the same time, no WORSE than Tony Banks was last year.....Our defense will be killer with Trotter,Arrington, and Armstead as our starting 3 linebackers....Smoot and Bailey at corner........our D-line is vert streaky, they play inspirational some times, and just tank at other times...who knows...I just want the Skins to make the playoffs after about 3 years in a row of missing them by 1 game. Guest The Voices In Your Head Report post Posted July 25, 2002 I'll probably change my mind before Week 1 kicks off, but here's my thoughts as of now: NFC East: Philadelphia [gets a bye] North: Green Bay [home field. ] South: Tampa Bay [this year, they might be able to squeak by with a 7-9 record] West: St. Louis Wild Cards: San Francisco & Washington [i decided to take a risk] [it could very well come down to Washington playing old rival Dallas in Week 17 to decide a Playoff spot] Wild Card Round: TB over Washington, STL over SF Divisional Round: Phi over STL, GB over TB NFC Championship: GB over Phi AFC East: Miami [bye] North: Pittsburgh South: Indianapolis West: Denver [if they can keep some of their backs healthy they could do a lot of damage] [bye] Wild Cards: New England, Cleveland [scary fact: Cleveland lost 4 close games last year, and could've been 11-5 very easily] Wild Card Round: Ind over Cle, Pit over NE Divisional Round: Mia over Ind, Den over Pit AFC Championship: Mia over Den Super Bowl XXXVII: GB over Mia [i reserve the right to change my mind over the next 6 weeks, when there will probably be another predictions thread. After all, with injuries and the preseason still to come, who knows what could happen.]

Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Report post Posted July 31, 2002 NoCalMike SEZ: I am a Skins fan, and believe they can suprise enough teams this year to possibly get a Wildcard spot. Me too, killer, but it ain't gonig to happen. I've actually changed my tune. Instead of shouting EIGHT-AND-EIGHT~! like I have been for a while, I've decided that the addition of Jeremiah Trotter and a few other guys warrants me to change that prediction to 9-7. Of course, they still lose to Dallas on Thanksgiving. People keep saying that Dallas go better and will contend for a wild-card spot, or that Washington will contend for a wild-crad spot, but they still haven't goten better than the status quo. Neither team has a quarterback, both teams have suspect receivers. I mean, really, who gets knocked out of the wild-card picture? Chicago? No way. Their defense is still better than anything that Washington or Dallas can field right now, plus they've got 3 or 4 receivers that can do some damage. They're certainly not better than San Francisco. They're probably better than Tampa or New Orleans, but one of those teams is getting a playoff spot from the NFC Dirty South. Anyway, my picks tend to mirror everyone else's, for the most part. AFC East: Miami squeaks by New England by a game. The one thing the 'Phins needed last year was a running game, and while Ricky Williams may be overrated, he's capable of 1200 yards. New England more than likely gets a wild-card spot and 11 wins or so. The Bills and Jets fight over the cellar - which is a shame, because Buffalo's done some nice things with their team this year. The Jets, however, suck and are absolutely delusional if they think having an old man throw to receivers shorter than Allen Iverson is going to win them 10 games. AFC North: Stillers! They lived what I thought was a bit of a charmed life last year, but they're still miles ahead of the rest of that division. I mean, Cleveland's a better team now, but not THAT much better, TYhey'll contend for a wild-card spot, though. Cincinnati's a year away, and the Ravens are decimated by the salcap, injuries, and a lack of a starting quarterback. AFC Dirty South: I'm going out on a limb and say Tennessee's going to win this division. I know, everyone loves Indianapolis, but how much better can their defense get without big personnel changes? Anyway, Jacksonville's probably going to fall apart once Mark Brunell and Fred Taylor get hurt. And Houston will be respectable, but in that whole "only-win-six-games" kinda way. AFC West: God, I almost have no idea who's coming out of this division. It's not clear-cut that Oakland will dominate here, I don't think. San Diego should be better, Denver might be healthy, and Kansas City ... well, Kansas City could go either way, I think. Oakland and Denver fight over the division crown, which Denver probably wins. Oakland gets a wild-card. NFC LEAST (HA!): Philly seems poised to run away with the division, but I'd be surprised if they won more than 11 games this year. I'm sorry, but they still don't have a running game, and got thinner on defense. You can only win with smoke, mirrors, and Donovan McNabb so much. It'd also be poetic justice if my beloved, yet misguided Redskins and hated, yet misguided Cowboys entered into Week 17 with identical 9-6 records, and then proceeded to tie, knocking each other out of the playoff race. It's what they deserve, really. God, New York teams really suck, don't they? It's a good thing the Yankees are there to balance out the rest of the crappy front offices in the Big Apple. NFC Norris: Green Bay probably wins the division, and Chicago probably gets a wild-card. The Packers didn't get much better than they were last year, but then again, I don't know how the Pack won as many games as they did last year. The Bears aren't 13-3 good, but they're at least 11-5 good. Plus, Brian Urlacher is my Lord, God, and Saviour. Anyway, Minnesota and Detroit don't have the lines to compete, though Minnesota will be fun to watch. NFC Dirty South: Probably the weakest division in the league. Tampa and New Orleans will battle for the top spot here, and Tampa will get it, but their numbers will not be spectacular. Atlanta's got potential, but it's going to take a year or Michael Vick to get on the right track. Carolina licks balls because they do, in fact, lick balls. NFC West: St. Louis or San Francisco? Probably St, Louis, unless Marshall Faulk fucks up his knee or something. San Francisco got better, though, and seems to have a wild card all but sewn up. Poor Seattle and poor Arizona - they're two teams that seem poised to do good things this year, but they can't in that division. LUNATIC - Pimpin' ho's and clockin' a grip like my name was Dolemite. Guest Bosstones Fan Report post Posted July 31, 2002 I've been a Cowboys fan all my life and all I have to say about this year is: THEY WILL SUCK. Say it with me: THE COWBOYS WILL SUCK THIS YEAR. Seriously, their defense has the potential to be VERY good, but they will not win more than six games because of these reasons: - The offensive line is average, at best. Andre Gurode could be a very good player (though maybe not right away) and Larry Allen should still be a monster, but they have no one else that is worth a damn on that line. Flozell Adams and Kelvin Garmon are out-of-shape pieces of shit, and Soloman Page will never be any good. - Their running game probably won't be much better than 'mediocre,' because of the combination of the weak offensive line and the fact that Emmitt Smith (who SHOULD break Payton's record by Week 10) is getting up there in years and Troy Hambrick is a bit overrated at this point. Plus, their draft pick FB, Jamar Martin, is out for they year with a knee injury. - The wide receivers are fast, but they have yet to show the courage to go across the middle of the field and risk a shellacking at the hands of some killer linebacker. Plus, who the hell is going to throw them the ball? That leads into my next reason why they will suck. - They do not have, as of yet, a NFL-quality quarterback on the roster. Quincy Carter has the talent, but he is ALWAYS hurt and doesn't seem to be bright enough to learn to play QB in the NFL. Clint Stoerner and Anthony Wright are nothing more than backups and Chad Hutchinson hasn't even played football in 5 years! So, do not get your hopes up about the Cowboys. If you do, I'm afraid that you're going to be seriously disappointed. They will almost certainly start 1-0 (because Houston is going to be even worse), but after that, look out. With all that said, here are my predictions: NFC North: Green Bay NFC South: Tampa Bay (almost by default) NFC East: Philadelphia (again, by default) NFC West: St. Louis (your NFC champs) Wildcards: San Francisco, Chicago?? (there is a lack of quality teams here) AFC North: Pittsburgh AFC South: Tennessee AFC East: Miami AFC West: Oakland Wildcards: Kansas City, Indianapolis I have no idea who will win the AFC. Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Report post Posted August 11, 2002 AFC East: It's all about the Miami Dolphins. Chambers is Randy Moss with a work ethic, and Williams just has to get about 1300 yards, and we'll be peachy keen. AFC North: I hate the Steelers, but they'll take this division easily, even with a bum like Kordell at the helm. Ward, Famous Amos and Randle El should really show off their stuff this year. AFC South: When they announced the new divisions, this one just looked sick, but after sub-par years by the Titans and Colts its anyone's ball game. I'm goign to say the Colts, with Dungy's philosiphy on defense and their same big-time offense, to take this. AFC West: The Raidas. Brian Griese and TD have just too many variables between them, even with the solid 1-2 receiving punch. NFC East: The Eagles. The Skins could make this interesting, because the Eagles have been known to let teams hang around a bit when they could possibly be blowing them out, and it bites em. When they just lay teams out, like the Bucs in the playoffs, they look great and McNabb is the real thing. Eagles to take this one. NFC West: Rams. I love Jeff Garcia, but Stevie M just bothers me. Flipping out over preseason games is not cool. NFC North: Can Chi-town repeat? I'm doubting it. Favre is just too tough, and even with all those roster changes, he's gonna lead the Pack back to glory. NFC South: You'd hope the Bucs could take this, but who knows with that QB situation. Wild Cards, AFC: Pats, Bills (That's right, baby. AFC East looooove) Wild Cards, NFC: 49ers, Skins AFC Championship: Dolphins over Colts after Peyton Manning throws a INT for a TD and gives that look that makes me laugh for hours. NFC Championship: Eagles over Pack in a old-fashioned, just plain fun game. Super Bowl: Dolphins over Eagles, 20-

Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted August 16, 2002 AFC East - Let's see... New England takes the division and a bye, too. I think I am DQed of being a bandwagon jumper because even though I am the biggest Titans fan in the world, I'm from New England. AFC North - I'm gonna laugh so hard when the Steelers falter and I'm right about the Ravens taking this division. The salary cap can screw itself with a raw fish, they say! AFC South - My only true markout pick, the Titans win this division by a hop, skip, and a jump, gaining the second bye in the process. AFC West - The Chargers to shock us all like the Padres in '98, babe. You know. AFC Wildcards - I don't want to miss out on the Miami love, plus I'm a huge RW fan, so the Dolphins grab one wild card, while the Colts take the other one. NFC East - Eagles. Eagles Eagles Eagles. They're like ducks, man. NFC West - For the sake of being different, the Seahawks shock us all, winning the division and the bye. Even if he's missing a lot of time, I have learned to never doubt Trent Dilfer. NFC North - The Pack. They suck, but I figure they'll win anyway. NFC South - Aaron Brooks shocks us all and leads the Saints to the playoffs and the second bye. My god, these have to be the worst picks ever. Cool. NFC Wildcards - Hmm. How about the Rams and the... hey, what the hell. The Cardinals. AFC Wild Card Round - The Ravens fall to the Dolphins, while the Chargers beat the Colts. NFC Wild Card Round - The Packers over the Cardinals and the Rams over the Eagles. AFC Divisional Playoffs - The Titans over the Chargers and the Patriots over the Dolphins. NFC Divisional Playoffs - The Rams defeat the Saints, while the Packers fall to the mighty Seahawks. AFC Championship Game - The Titans over the Patriots 17-13. NFC Championship Game - The Seahawks pull a stunning upset of the Rams, 42-38. Super Bowl - The Seahawks' Cinderella season ends with a crushing defeat by the Titans, 48-7.
