Live from the Arrowhead Pond, in Anaheim, CA... it's Wrestlemania 2000!

Quick background on tonight's show/main event. First of all, before the show, the WWF ran "Wrestlemania All-Day Long" on PPV. It stretched from the morning all the way up to the show itself. The single PPV event cost $35 I believe, and for All-Day Long and the event, it was $50. First of all, 8 hours of wrestling before a 3.5-4 hour wrestling show is more than enough, so I didn't bother watching All-Day Long. Besides, did I really need to see a recap of every Wrestlemania? For the ones that I don't have, I'll run over to Suncoast Video and buy the WWF Homevideo versions for $14.99 each.

Now, in the main event for the "Biggest Wrestlemania of all time", its Triple H (with Stephanie) vs. The Rock (with Vince) vs. Big Show (with Shane) vs. Mick Foley (with Linda) for the WWF Championship in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match. This started at the Royal Rumble. Mick Foley was forced to bring back Cactus Jack and face Triple H in a brutal Street Fight. HHH got the win and retained the belt. Meanwhile, Big Show & Rock had their issues in the Rumble Match. They were the final two men remaining. Show ran toward the ropes with Rock over his shoulder ready to dump him, but Rock used his own momentum against him and brought him over the top, and "hung on" to win the match. However, footage later showed that Rock's feet actually hit the floor before Big Show, so a match was signed for No Way Out where the winner would go to Wrestlemania. Meanwhile, Cactus Jack wants to live his dream and main event Wrestlemania. HHH agrees on a rematch between the two for No Way Out, and if Cactus wins, then he main events Wrestlemania no matter what. But if HHH wins, then Cactus must retire. Cactus accepts, but wants Hell in a Cell!

At No Way Out, Rock has Big Show beaten, but a returning Shane McMahon costs Rock the match when he alligns with Big Show. Later on, in yet another brutal classic, HHH again defeats Cactus to retain, but that means that Mick Foley must retire. So, it would seem that the main event for Wrestlemania is now Triple H vs. Big Show, and of course, HHH has Stephanie in his corner, but now, Show has Shane in his corner. That's how it would seem, but wrong. See, Vince McMahon (as a face) returned and held a rematch between Rock & Show with the same stipulations as No Way Out. Rock got the win that time, making it HHH vs. Rock... or not. Shane McMahon was able to get it changed to a Triple Threat Match also involving Show. Finally, the main event is settled! With Steph and Shane in opposite corners, Vince decided to get in too, so he put himself in Rock's corner. One night on Raw, since Vince is a face, he decides to give the fans the main event of Wrestlemania as the main event of that particular RAW. The match goes on as planned, when suddenly, Linda McMahon comes down. She changes the main event yet again, making it the Four-Way Match, with Mick Foley for a one-time appearance! She also agreed to be in his corner.

With all this, the tension was building between the four competitors for weeks. Many questioned what would happen if Mick Foley was to win the title, since it was a one-time deal. Linda responded, saying that if he won, he would leave as planned, and a tournament would be held with the Finals taking place at Backlash where the winner would be awarded the vacant title. On the final Smackdown before the PPV, Vince McMahon promised that he would make everything "right" with his dysfunctional family. Also on that night, The Godfather pinned Triple H (following a distraction), and Stephanie won the Women's Title. Alright, let's start the show!

Opening Match- The Godfather & D'Lo Brown vs. Big Boss Man & Bull Buchanan

I believe the reasoning behind this one is that Buchanan debuted weeks before and him and the Boss Man layed Godfather out. Anyway, Godfather & D'Lo rapped down to the ring by Ice-T, mainly to promote the "WWF Aggression" CD. D'Lo and Buchanan start things off. D'Lo takes him down with an arm bar. He hits the D'Lo leg drop and yells, "You suck!" Tell 'em D'Lo! Buchanan makes the comeback hitting a flying clothesline. Scissor Kick gets two, and they fight into the corner. D'Lo manages a top rope hurricanrana, and hot tags Godfather in. Godfather goes nuts on Boss Man and Buchanan. He signals for the Ho-Train on Boss Man, but an Irish whip is reversed. Boss Man charges, but Godfather counters. Godfather connects with the Ho-Train and tags in D'Lo. D'Lo immediately goes up top, but Buchanan shoves him off. Godfather brawls with Buchanan outside. Boss Man hits D'Lo with the Boss Man Slam, and then Buchanan goes up top and nails a leg drop, to score the win at 9:08. Boss Man & Buchanan proceed to chase all the hos away. Pretty bad opener... just barely *

Earlier today, the 13 guys in the Hardcore Title Battle Royal go over the rules. The match is 15-minutes, and there can any amount of title changes... or as the champion Crash suggests, none at all. To win the title, you have to pin the champion.

---

WWF Hardcore Championship: 15-Minute Battle Royal- Crash Holly © vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Tazz vs. Kaientai vs. Viscera vs. Mean Street Posse vs. Acolytes vs. Headbangers

Everyone brawls, and as it turns out, only Crash & Tazz remain in the ring. Tazzplex, and Tazz pins Crash to win the Hardcore title! 30 seconds in, and already a title change... and Crash thought maybe no changes at all! Tazz heads outside to join the fray. No clue why the other 12 guys are going after anyone but Tazz. Viscera slams Tazz into the ringpost, and follows up with a slam on the floor, to win the title. It's crazy. Crash and Pete Gas get busted open. Viscera kills everyone with a cookie sheet. Hardcore Holly hits him with a trash can for two. Mosh gets two. Inside, the Acolytes and Kaientai fight it out, and Viscera comes in. Faarooq Dominates Taka. Meanwhile, Viscera heads up top (?!), but gets slammed to the mat by both Faarooq & Bradshaw. They then throw Taka & Funaki on Viscera for a cover. Mosh even gets in, and Viscera is counted down. The referee says Funaki's the champ though. No clue why the Acolytes threw Funaki on. I guess he payed them off before the match. Taka chases Funaki all the way into the back. Rodney takes him out in the back, and he wins the title. Joey Abs suplexes him to win. Thrasher rams Joey into the steel garage door, to win. Everyone beats him down, as he makes his way back to ringside. JR describes it as a "Human Video Game". Pete Gas uses a fire extinguisher on Thrasher, to win the title, in the aisle. Ringside, Tazz hits a Tazzplex, and covers Pete to become champ again. Outside, Hardcore Holly nearly wins the title. Inside, Tazz dismantles Mosh, and gets a two count (cover?). Now, both Hollys go after Tazz. Hardcore is thrown outside. Crash comes out of nowhere with a street sign, and he pins Tazz. He celebrates too long, so Tazz locks in the Tazzmission with 10 seconds left. Suddenly, Hardcore runs back in and smashes a candy jar over both Tazz & Crash. He covers Crash to just barely get the win, at 15:00, despite Tim White screwing up the three-count. Crazy stuff. ***

Recap of Fan Axess. Looks like fun.

Replay of the ending of the Battle Royal. JR & The King speculate whether Hardcore won the title.

Backstage, Al Snow is talking to someone in the bathroom stall. Steve Blackman enters and questions what's going on. He doesn't want Al to pull anything tonight, because it's Wrestlemania for crissakes! Headcheese ruled.

---

Great shot of Trish's breasts, as she leads T&A out.

T&A vs. Steve Blackman & Al Snow

Before the match, Al Snow brings out Chester McCheeserton! He's some foreign guy dressed as a big block of cheese. Test & Blackman start. Blackman gets some shots in before tagging in Snow. Snow gets annihilated by Test & Albert. Snow pokes Albert's eyes, and takes him down. Tag to Blackman, and some double-teaming. So very boring... the crowd is dead. Fast Forward. Even JR is dissing the match. T&A just barely manage a double-powerbomb move on Snow. Two, as Blackman interrupts. Oh, watch this. Blackman dropkicks Albert, who's supposed to fall out over the top rope. Albert tries to go over, but can't make it, and then tries to go throw the middle, but still... no. Finally, out of desperation, he rolls out. Watch it in slow-motion for the full effect. Later on, Albert slams Blackman, and Test follows with the flying elbow, to score the win at 7:07. Such a terrible match. DUD. Afterwards, Headcheese give Chester the Sidewinder for good measure.

WWF Tag Team Championship: Triangle Ladder Match- Dudley Boyz © vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & Christian

The match begins with everyone fighting inside. The fighting quickly spreads out, with Jeff Hardy & Buh Buh Ray fighting inside. Buh Buh backdrops Jeff, and then hits the Buh-Buh-Bomb. One of the ladders is brought in, and Buh-Buh gets nailed with it. Matt and Jeff double-team D-Von. Jeff places D-Von on the ladder, and Matt hits an elbow from the top. Then, Jeff has Buh-Buh laying on the ladder, and he goes up top. He misses the 450-splash. Buh-Buh grabs the ladder and places it around his neck. He then proceeds to knock everyone down by spinning. The Hardys take him out with a double dropkick. Matt and Buh-Buh fight outside, as Edge & Christian double-team D-Von inside with the ladder. Christian places the ladder near the ropes, climbs it, and dives off onto Buh-Buh & Matt! Inside, Jeff has another ladder, and he climbs up to grab the belts. Edge comes off the top rope and hits Jeff off with a spear! Edge tries getting the belts, but Matt grabs him and hits a sit-down Razor's Edge! Now, Matt climbs, but D-Von hits him off. D-Von climbs, and Christian makes the save. Only one more guy to go... Buh-Buh Ray. With all three ladders set up, Buh-Buh climbs up with Christian, and hits the Buh-Buh Cutter all the way from the top of the ladder! The Hardys lay Buh-Buh out, and they each climb a ladder in opposite corners. They jump at the same time... Matt hitting a leg drop, and Jeff hitting a splash simultaneously. Edge & Christian throw Jeff outside. They then superplex D-Von off the top of a ladder! Everyone gets up, and all six guys are climbing the three ladders in the middle of the ring. Christian and Jeff are hit off and to the outside, and Matt and Edge fall off and are crotched on the ropes. That leaves the Dudleys all alone in the ring. They could have easily gotten the belts, but they decide to get the tables instead. They bring them in, until Edge & Christian come back. Christian gets hit back out, and Edge gets 3Ded. The Dudleys set up a few tables. Then, they put two ladders together, and put a table on top! The crowd pops huge, awaiting a sick bump; however, the Dudleys are going to use it as a platform or scaffolding to get the belts. They try to climb up, but the Hardys save. D-Von and Jeff fight inside, while Matt and Buh-Buh outside. Buh-Buh sets a table up outside next to the Spanish announce table, and D-Von has one inside. First, D-Von has Jeff on his table, and he climbs another ladder. He misses a splash and goes through. Outside, Buh-Buh and Matt are standing on the Spanish announce table. Buh-Buh powerbombs Matt right through to the floor. Buh-Buh and Jeff fight near the aisle. Jeff jumps on the railing, runs it, and jumps, but Buh-Buh hits him directly with the ladder! Buh-Buh finds one of the huge ladders, and sets it up in the aisle, with a table right below it. Before, Buh-Buh can do anything, Christian comes over and nails him with the ring bell. Buh-Buh is prone on the table, and Jeff climbs the huge ladder! Jeff proceeds to hit the Swanton Bomb right through! Holy shit, he is insane! That takes out Buh-Buh & Jeff. Inside, D-Von is taken out, and Matt and Christian climb up onto the table/ladder platform. They fight on top, as Edge sneaks up behind Matt. Edge pushes Matt off and through a table below! From there, Edge & Christian grab the Tag Team titles to win the match, at 23:30! And so starts the Edge & Christian Tag Title reign... in what would be 1 of 7 reigns. As for the match... what else? *****

Cat Fight- The Kat vs. Terri... Special Referee: Val Venis

Kat has Mae Young, and Terri has Moolah with her. You win by throwing your opponent outside. Terri & Kat both flirt with Val to begin. Finally, Terri tackles Kat, and Val pulls her off. While being held, Terri starts to make out with Val. Kat seems jealous, so Val drops Terri and makes out with Kat. Kat and Terri fight some more, as Mae Young gets on the apron. She tries to show her "puppies", but thankfully, Val prevents it. Meanwhile, Kat throws Terri out, but Val is distracted as he tries to save everyone by stopping Mae. They fight some more, and Kat again throws Terri out, but Val is distracted this time, as Mae kisses him. This time, Moolah throws Terri in, and pulls Kat out. Val sees it, and awards the match to Terri, at 2:23. DUD, obviously. Afterwards, Kat & Mae strip Terri. Mae gives Moolah the Bronco Buster, so all is right with the world.

Backbreaker on Guerrero, and he goes up top for the Hip Hop Drop. Saturn pushes him off, and all three Radicalz get their shots on him in the corner. Guerrero goes for the back drop, but Grandmaster counters and tags in Scotty. Guerrero keeps control, and he hits Chyna down the second she turns her back. Scotty is able to throw Guerrero outside, where Grandmaster suplexes him. Inside, Malenko & Saturn go down, and Scotty hits a double Worm! Guerrero comes in and distracts the referee while Malenko & Saturn pummel Scotty outside. Chyna tries getting in, but the ref won't allow it. Scotty comes in, and Saturn is tagged. Superkick by Saturn, and he follows up with a flying elbow. Guerrero gets the tag, and he heads up top, only to be crotched. Scotty gets the superplex, and tags Chyna in. Guerrero again bails. Chyna throws Saturn & Malenko in opposite corners and hits the handspring elbows! Double lowblow, but Guerrero cheapshots her. Guerrero attempts a powerbomb, but Chyna reverses and powerbombs him! Chyna proceeds to grab him in the nuts, and hit a press slam. Sleeper dropper, and Chyna covers Guerrero for the win, at 9:36. Not bad... **1/2

Footage is shown of some lady and her husband winning a contest to get front row seats for the show. They're shown live, when she decides to hold up a sign that reads, "We WWF'n won these tickets". I couldn't help but notice that the WWF logo on it is PERFECTLY drawn like the real one. Gee, the WWF didn't give her that sign.

The second fall is for the European title. Smart move by Benoit, as he immediately covers Jericho again, but Angle runs in for the save. Angle works on Benoit, and goes up top. Jericho crotches him, and goes for the superplex. Benoit stops it, and suplexes Jericho off! Benoit is down, and Angle's still up there. Angle misses a moonsault. Both are down, and Angle gets two on Benoit. Jericho locks Angle in the Walls, but Benoit saves. Jericho hits Angle with the powerbombs, and Benoit hits the rolling German suplexes on Jericho. The ref is bumped, and Benoit locks Jericho in the Crossface! No ref, so Benoit tries to revive him. Jericho now locks him in the Walls! Angle comes in and nails Jericho with the European title. He covers, but Benoit saves. Benoit misses the flying headbutt on Angle, so Jericho follows up with the Lionsault on Benoit, to win the European title, at 13:53! Rock Bottom, and both guys are out! Two count, and Vince runs back out. Vince totally lays out Shane and grabs the chair. Both Rock & HHH rise to their feet. Vince purposely nails Rock, once again turning heel! HHH covers, but only two! Vince again nails Rock, and this time, HHH covers for the win, to retain his title and become one of the only heels to successfully defend the title. Match was pretty good. ***3/4.

Stephanie comes in, and she reunites with Vince, as the fans start throwing garbage in. Shane comes in and also reunites. Rock runs back and Rock Bottoms both Vince and Shane. Steph slaps him, and gets Rock Bottomed and the People's Elbow! Rock leaves, as the McMahons and HHH are helped to the back.

And so ends Wrestlemania 2000. I've always had mixed feelings on this show. There's alot of good action, especially the Triangle Ladder match which started the TLC trend. So, I'll go with thumbs in the middle, but mostly leaning up.
