Guest CHEAT TO WIN~! Report post Posted July 22, 2002 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your hosts tonight are Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. Howard Finkel is the ring announcer. (1) Cruiserweight Champion Jamie Noble pinned Billy Kidman in 12:25. A great match with Noble working the knee to try to ground the high flying Kidman. Billy makes the comeback and goes for the shooting star press, but his knee goes out as he jumps, and he lands on his head. Noble finishes quickly with two neckbreakers and a top rope DDT. Rey Misterio Jr. hits the ring to help Kidman after the match, and has a staredown with Noble. (2) Yoshihiro Tajiri & Chavo Guerrero Jr. beat Rey Misterio Jr. & Hurricane Helms in 12:45. The faces dominate at the beginning with constant high spots that really get the crowd into it. A stiff kick to the face of Rey stops that in a hurry. Rey plays Ricky Morton and the heels use some great double team tactics to try to hold him down. He finally gets the hot tag to Hurricane. They team up and take care of the heels. Hurricane brawls with Chavo on the outside as Rey and Tajiri fight in the ring. Jamie Noble comes back to ringside and nails Rey in the face with the cruiserweight title belt as he was going for a top rope rana on Tajiri. Good heel heat for that one. Tajiri powerbombs him off the top for the win. (3) European Champion Jeff Hardy pinned William Regal in 6:26. Regal beats the hell out of Hardy and bloodies his nose with a stiff uppercut. He hits a double underhook powerbomb for two. Jeff mounts the comeback, but misses the Swanton. Regal tries to capitalize with the brass knucks, but Jeff ducks and kicks them out of Regal's hand. He picks up the knucks and nails Regal in the face for the win. (4) Lance Storm & Christian beat Tag Team Champions Hulk Hogan & Edge in 8:15 to win the titles. Hogan and Edge have separate entrances. Hogan comes out first and gets attacked by Christian and Storm. They destroy his knee with a chair and he can't even stand up on his own power. Edge races down to the ring, but the damage has been done. He tries to wrestle the match on his own, and does a good job of it for a while. The heels overcome him, however, and hit the Hart Attack on Edge. JR reminds us that move is "shades of the old Hart Foundation". Hogan finally manages to get back in the ring to save his partner, but Storm dropkicks him in the knee. They execute a rocket launcher, with Christian splashing Hogan off the top for the titles. After the match, Edge bitches out Hogan for coming into the ring when he was hurt. Hogan tries to plea with Edge not to be mad, but Edge kicks Hogan in the knee and leaves to HUGE heel heat, ala Owen Hart at Royal Rumble 94. (5) Chris Jericho beat John Cena by submission in 8:12. Cena fought hard and even used Jericho's own Lionsault against him, but it wasn't enough. The crowd was behind the rookie, hoping for another upset win... but Jericho brought back the triple powerbomb and then immediately hooked Cena in the Walls of Jericho for the submission win. Jericho shook Cena's hand after the match, but nailed him in the back of the head right when he turned his back. He throws Cena to the arena floor, and uses the Breakdown on the exposed concrete. Cena bleeds from the nose and mouth as Jericho grabs the mic and says "Welcome to the WWE, Junior!" (6) Booker T pinned The Big Show in 8:14 of a falls count anywhere match. This was nothing special. Just your ordinary back and forth brawl. Show got the better of it, and went for a chokeslam on the announce table. Booker slipped out of the chokeslam over Show's back, turned him around, and hit the Book End on the arena floor. He rolled Show up onto the announce table, and comes off the top rope with a somersault legdrop (Harlem Hangover) through the table and the pin. The crowd went nuts for the Harlem Hangover. Both men needed help to the back after the match. (7) Chris Benoit & Eddy Guerrero beat Bubba Ray & Spike Dudley in 13:11 of a tag team tables match. This was a good match with Benoit & Guerrero beating the hell out of Spike up until about the 8 minute mark. Then Bubba got the hot tag and everything went "bonzo gonzo", as Scott Keith would say. Spike gets tossed, and Bubba goes through the table with a flapjack from the heels. It's a nice bit of irony that Bubba is eliminated by a move that he and D-Von used to use so frequently. Spike tried his best to pull off the upset, but the heels were just too much. He got lucky and hit the Dudley Dog on Eddy from the apron through a table on the outside. But right when he came back in, Benoit hit a backdrop suplex followed by a top rope German suplex through a table for the win. (8) Brock Lesnar pinned Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam in 12:29 to win the title. This was nothing out of the ordinary from these two, although being given one of the top PPV spots, they obviously worked harder. In the end, RVD was going for the frog splash, but Heyman nailed him off the top rope with a chair. Brock hits the F5 for the win. After the match, Heyman gets on the mic to celebrate the win, but Brock takes the mic from him. He yells at Paul saying he never asked for or needed any help. Paul tries to plead his case, but Brock beats the hell out of him, much to the delight of the crowd. He hits the F5 right on the title belt, and spits on Paul before leaving. JR is loving is, as is The King. (9) World Champion The Undertaker beat Kurt Angle and The Rock in 23:40 of a three-way match. Kurt and Rock steal the show here. It seems as if Taker is sitting back and watching half of the time. JR notes it as being a smart strategy from the veteran. At least this way he isn't stinking up the match. Kurt locks in the ankle lock on Rock, but Taker interrupts and chokeslams Angle. Rock gets up and goes toe-to-toe with Taker. He gets the better of the champ and goes for a tombstone on the originator of the move. Taker reverses it quickly, presumably because Rock's injured ankle was acting up, and nails the tombstone on Rock to retain the title. Angle almost made the save but he was just barely too late.
