Linkin Park

I've heard some things about them making a remix album...is this true because this really does seem rediculous. I mean Limp Biscut at least had 3 albums out before making one already, Linkin Park only released one...well its glad to see they care more about the music and creativity for their fans and not making money like every other band

Of course. Puff Daddy claims to have invented them, after all.

I guess thats what happens when the record execs stop writing songs for you.

maybe they will have a reason to be 'angry teens' now. :P

I rather artist make throw away ablums ASAP then right before they leave a lable and throw out crap like Prince did. Also, remix CDs can be catchy. And they can feature many different artist to broaded the mass appeal and to make it sound better. Plus, 90% of this board hates Linkin Park, so it wouldn't matter what they do.

If they became a Green Day cover band, I'd stop hating them.

unfortunatly yes...

and they were not worth the 40 minutes last year at ozzfest I nailed the bassist with which hit the bass and the guy didn't mess up, which points into my conclusion...lip synch...

Ok, I wanted to ask this question, and this seems like the thread in which to do it, so here goes:

I always hear people say "Linkin Park is the boy band of nu-metal".

I want to know why, please.

because they were formed by studio execs, they dont write their songs, and their lead singer looks like he should be in N Sync

Say what? Who writes their songs, then? Any names? I believe they write them. I believe they formed independently, and the lead singer can SING.

Most boybands were put together by a manager, by the way.

From the CD jacket of Hybrid Theory (and this is an exact quote, BTW):

ALL SONGS WRITTEN BY LINKIN PARK

As well, judging someone's music based solely on their looks is a TERRIBLE thing to do. Music and appearance should not go hand in hand.

they don't... Linkin Park's music sucks... plain and simple.

Look at it this way:

Brittney - cute as a button.... musically, nothing.

Shakira - same...

FZ and the Mothers - ugly motherfuckers! (no pun on mothers... long story... Zappa fandom :D ) - just simply amazing musicians.

Motorhead - man... they're hideous... but quite good.

this is coming from Linkin Park's own words on their site:

The band saw its beginnings in emcee/vocalist Mike Shinoda's small bedroom studio, where he and Delson recorded the band's first material in 1996. The two had attended high school together, where they met the band's drummer, Rob Bourdon. Shinoda hooked up with DJ Joseph Hahn while studying illustration at Art Center College in Pasadena. Meanwhile, attending UCLA, Delson shared an apartment with bassist Phoenix, who left the band after college and returned a year later. The final piece of the puzzle was singer Chester Bennington, a transplanted Arizona native who started making records when he was 16. "When I was two, I used to run around singing Foreigner songs--there's tapes of me doing that...Since I learned how to talk I've been telling everybody I was gonna grow up to be a singer." laughs Bennington.

they came together OWN their own. And then LOOKED for a singer. So that just shoots down the corporate board meeting bullshit.

Their brand of nu metal is so generic, they might as well have been put together at a board meeting.

Honestly, I don't know about these claims of Linkin Park being the result of studio fakery, but just because their website gives a little bio, doesn't make it true. After all, Vanilla Ice initially tried to pass himself off as being from the mean streets of Miami when he was actually representin' a well-to-do suburb of Houston.

I have no reason to believe or disbelieve them, but I wouldn't put it past a hot new band to lie profusely about some things. Hell, I would if it did some good for me.

if I made a web site and told you my dad was Geddy Lee, and I was being taught guitar by John Petrucci on Mondays and Alex Lifeson on Fridays would you believe it?

please.

oh... and I think I'm not alone in the world when I say I would never ever claim Foreigner as a musical inspiration. <_<

I know some people might hate Linkin Park, but come on now! Have you ever listened to their songs? Chester Bennington won't have a voice if he sings those songs live every night. That's one instance where I can't blame someone for lip synching. Where did all of this talk of them being put together by studio execs start?

This is from their allmusic.com profile:

"Old-school hip-hop, traditional classic rock, and spooling electronic vibes were the initial factors behind the building of the alternative metal quintet, Linkin Park. The band's southern Californian musical roots were also an underlying basis, for drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, and MC/vocalist Mike Shinoda formed a tight friendship while still in high school. Shortly after graduation, art student and DJ Joseph Hahn hooked up with bassist Darren "Phoenix" Farrell and Shinoda for the band, Xero. Hybrid Theory came later, but the band opted on the name Linkin Park when singer Chester Bennington was the last piece added to the band in 1999. Soon the band became a noticeable face at the Whisky as well as favorites in and around Los Angeles. Zomba Music's Jeff Blue was one of the few who didn't turn the band down for a contract at the turn of the millennium - Linkin Park signed to Warner Bros. after being turned down three times in late 1999 and got to work on their debut album."

Like them or not, Linkin Park is fucking successful. Their album stayed in the top 10 on billboard for OVER A YEAR. If I'm not mistaken, they sold like somewhere around 11 million records.

While the remix CD probably won't have the same effects, its just capitalizing on a good thing, but who the hell can blame them?

I saw the video for Point of Authority and if the rest of the album is going to be like that, I can't see the point of anyone buying an album of songs they basically already have.

Linkin Park isnt that bad..not the best but not the worst. I like the remix for In The End though.

BTW Shakira is a pretty good singer/songwriter, and damn hot too. To each his own though
