Best/Worst Comic Related Shows

Recommended Posts

My favourites are Smallville, and the early 90s X-Men Cartoon. The Spider-Man cartoon from the 90s is alright, but it has aged horribly and I didn't like how they made Hobgoblin come before The Green Goblin and how they watered down Venom and Carnage.

The worst comic related show I've ever seen is The Incredible Hulk from the 60s. When he steps on a tank, it makes a SKRUNK sound, and the animation was horrible. Oh yeah, Iron Man looked like a 50s robot.

My favourite (and this might seem strange) was The Flash. A guilty pleasure, I guess. The Superman Rotoscoped cartoons had some very nice animations. And Justice League is probably the best superhero cartoon, story-wise.

Worst were the latter parts of Lois and Clark, the Superfriends that had Wendy and Marvin, and Marvel Action Hous (FF and Iron Man)

Oh, btw, Justice League is finally going to be on Canadian airwaves in the fall on YTV along with Samurai Jack and a couple other shows.

It took forever for that to come across the border.

The 60's Fantastic Four animated show by Hanna-Barbera has to be one of the all-time best. I think it holds up pretty well with other shows now. Specially the Galactus/Silver Surfer episode blew away the one they tried to do in the 90's show. Truly awesome.

The Marvel Action Hour was pretty bad the first season, but the second one they changed the animation and the FF had comic-book stories done and the Iron Man ones weren't so bad.

The 60's shows with Hulk, Captain America, Namor, Iron Man, and Thor had crappy animation and bad music and sound effects, but I went totally apeshit when I saw Iron Man for the first time on my TV.

I'll just pop in quick. I don't know much about comics or their characters...

But yesterday I saw an episode of X-Men: Evolutions, and that is the most god-awful show I think I've ever seen. Nightcrawler as a blue teenager who you kept expecting to say "Dude, totally!" just killed my vision of one of the better X-men.

Best? The early 90's X-Men cartoon (GAMBIT~!).

Early 90's X-Men rules all. Why? Because they developed characters, weren't afraid to injure/knock-off some lovable characters (MORPH), and just had great animation. Plus it had, EASILY, the best theme song to a cartoon EVER.

How about the live-action Justice League pilot? I liked it, against my better judgment.

Worst is easily the SuperFriends. The ONLY good thing to come from that show was Seanbaby's masterful demolition of the show on his website.

Worst: Smallville. I can't stand that show, and I explain why here. It does have some hot girls, though. Anyone else remember The Human Target, starring Rick "Jessie's Girl" Springfield? That wasn't so great, but the fact that they made a series for Christopher Chance gives it some coolness points. If they relaunched the series, based it on the Vertigo-ized character, and recast it (this goes without saying), it could be pretty good.

The first season (or two) of Lois & Clark was decent. Of course, B:TAS was good, and I thought The Flash was cancelled too soon.

And yes, those 60s Hulk/Cap shows were awful.

That's another thread entirely. Personally, I was a fan of the Saber Rider guitar riffs (although the singing was uber-cheese -- something probably got lost in the translation) and Voltron. The Gundam Wing ones are pretty good as well.

Ugh. I had that one purged from my mind until you mentioned it. This was about 100 times worse than Generation X.
