Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Yeah, it would be nice to see a proper blowoff for the NWO angle, maybe SummerSlam or Survivor Series, perhaps?
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 sports entertainment entertains me, i just like quality matches on the side. what i enjoy about sportz entertainment: - the storylines are better - they are gripping and closer to society than the good vs evil storylines of days gone by. - the matches are more exciting - dont get me wrong, i like 40 min long wrestling clinics as much as the next man, but i also believe that TLC and other crazy gimmick matches have their place and are a necessary part of the show. - the characters - as i said before, they have shades of gray, and are now *much* easier to relate to. - freshness - when "sportz entertainment" first emerged, you were seeing something that you had never seen before, and were compelled to watch the next week to see what would happen (my, has it become a self-parody) thats about it, but sportz entertainment is probably the best thing to happen to wrestling post hulkamania.
Guest Army Eye Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 hmm. was hoping they'd do a great show to follow up on that Raw but this doesn't sound so good on paper. Especially not delivering on a main event. Bah.. but I'll still watch and give it a chance The Kane/Angle brawl sounds fun but not if it means Angle gets stuck with Kane at Wrestlemania. It sucks that Angle is getting so much heat but has no program for Wrestlemania. The WWF needs to exercise some long-term booking, at least when it comes to building up to the big one. Same thing last year when they basically had nothing to do with HHH and Undertaker, so they threw together a feud between the two at the last minute. But Kurt has no 'odd man out' to oppose him with the same standing on the card that he commands.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 yup, totally agree army eye. unless kurt can get inserted in the main, it looks like he will be lost in an unltimately sucky filler match against kane.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Here's something... Why not turn Booker T face? I think his heel run has pretty much fizzled out by jobbing to the Cinderella Midgets, so turn him by having save someone or whatever the hell you want and have Angle piss on his leg(figuratively speaking of course) and you have your match and feud. You could even add some backstory about how Booker was pissed that ANgle turned his back on him at Survivor Series and temporarily cost him his job.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 alwayspissedoff, ive been pimping that idea for days, and you have a good rationale behind the fued as well. the thing is though that the wwf is seemingly denying all references to the invasion, and that would hinder your logic slightly. also, i dont know whether angle would be willing to job (he would have to) to booker, who has become little more than a glorious jobber who happens to be a 5 time wcw champ.
Guest goodhelmet Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Man, I am down with a Booker face turn. When he beat the Undertaker (Kronik interference)here in San Antonio on Sep. 10 RAW, I swear I was the only person out of 10,000 "Raising the Roof". Pluys, when he was a face, his in-ring work was always morecrisp and his motions a little more energetic than the slow, methodical heel crap.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Vanilla, I know exactly what you're saying , man. I think if they managed to pull it off(and manage to relate the Alliance/Invasion backstory) it would be some great TV and would make a damn good match to boot. Plus, I think Angle would be a company man and put Booker over because it would legitimize him in the eyes of the fans to see him FINALLY beat a mid-tier main eventer without a damned screwjob finish. I think that for the WWF to truly avoid the return of the Dark Ages, they must make light of past failures in angles and things that certain comapnies did better than them(like the NWO). I think ti would open the fans' eyes to what has gone down while most them either didn't wtach wrestling because they hated it or stopped watching because the 95-96 product(sans NWO, of course) sucked so hard. Sadly, Vince doesn't like to acknowledge the past too much, but they could really cash in on the Booker T investment by the face turn and the Angle feud.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 i wouldnt hold your breath on seeing past failures revisited. vince has a huge ego, and what would wound this ego more than anything, the "sure fire success" angle, which *he* managed to blow. now if vince would swallow his pride and do this, it would make *great* tv, but instead he will not acknowledge booker because he is not a "wwf boy" and will be treated as a jobber ala DDP. its sad and i dont want it to be so, but then, im being realistic.

Booker T/Angle had some nice matches when they were fighting for the WCW title. I think Booker T could get over big as a face whenever they decide to turn him. As long as the turn is done decently. Something like him turning on Test, or vice versa, would be such a non-factor, I don't think people would realize it was a turn.
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 turning on test is a *big* no-no. the crowd doesnt care enough about the team, and test doesnt have enough heat for it to work. perhaps involve booker with the mcmahons again, only to have him turn on them when they ask him to do something heelish. by book siding with face x, or perhaps even saving somebody from the nWo, he can quickly turn face, and have an instant fued with the heel he double-crosses.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Angle/Booker? How is Kurt jobbing to a jobber better than jobbing to Kane? The lesser of two evils? Oh Please get hurt, Kurt.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 The best case scenerio for Angle is that Hall gets himself fired and Angle gets to job to Austin again.
Guest WWF4Life Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Wow! I have to admit, it sounds like a fabulous show. Raw was awesome, but this seems like it'll be the perfect follow up to everything that happened Monday night. Thank you WWF. =)
Guest Army Eye Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Angle/Booker? How is Kurt jobbing to a jobber better than jobbing to Kane? The lesser of two evils? Oh Please get hurt, Kurt. er, better match quality for one thing.. and Kane is such a dead stagnant character. Angle having a feud with Booker T would be much better, they could actually cut promos on each other. I can't see them putting Booker T over Angle though, unless Booker started getting really massive pops.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 20, 2002 Report Posted February 20, 2002 Anglesault, seriously... shut the fuck up. I'm getting pretty sick and tired of your unhealthy obsession over Kurt Angle and his spot on the card at WM. Angle can do the fucking job to Booker and make it count for something, but your blinded love for him makes that point totally oblivious. Like somebody said on WDI, put down the lotion and the Angle poster already, kid.
Guest 1000 Faces Posted February 21, 2002 Report Posted February 21, 2002 I think it's probably worth mentioning that at last night's tapings, Booker got a total babyface reaction in the building for his match against Val Venis. The spinarooni got a huge pop. They could turn him babyface with absolutely no problem.
Guest Flair5000 Posted February 21, 2002 Report Posted February 21, 2002 Booker face turn is definetley coming, I think. He beat Venis and Godfather (I think?) clean the last two weeks, and is clearly being made to look stronger after so much jobbing. I don't know why Booker v Angle isn't any better than Kane/Angle. Better match, surely.
Guest dreamer420 Posted February 21, 2002 Report Posted February 21, 2002 I think the fans are just looking for reasons to cheer for Booker T. He is one of those guys who works pretty well as both a heel and a face, but a face turn would be the best thing for him right now. Look at it this way. Top Faces: Steve Austin The Rock Rob Van Dam Triple H Top Heels: Kevin Nash Hollywood Hogan Scott Hall Undertaker Chris Jericho Kurt Angle Booker T should be in that list I faces I think.
