YNA House Show Recap 7/22/02 Flint, MI

Just got back from a house show here in lovely Flint, Michigan...I'd say the IMA can hold 2,500...and I'd say they almost filled it half way...and not air conditioned

 

MATCHES:

 

Rey Mysterio Jr. & Funaki vs. Tajiri & Chavo Guerrero

 

-Rey got a huge pop and looks like he hasn't lost a step, comes out to some techno sounding shit...very good match, Rey finished off Chavo with a top rope hurricanrana... probably best of the night.

 

Albert vs Mark Henry

 

-Well...how much do you expect...boring match, don't even remember the finish...at least it wasn't too long.

 

Cruiserweight Championship

Jamie Noble w/ Nidia vs. Billy Kidman

 

-Good enough match...nothing special from these two...Kidman wasn't wearing his underwear costume...finish saw Nidia hold Kidman's foot down while Noble got the pin.

 

Billy and Chuck vs Hurricane and Shannon Moore

 

-Hurricane got a huge pop...this was almost as good as the Rey match...Billy and Chuck were acting goofy before the match and seemed to be enjoying themselves...finish has Hurrican chokeslamming Gunn...then Rico came in and got knocked out of the ring, giving Billy enough time for a fameass finish.

 

John Cena vs. Test

 

-Remember VERY little from this match...both guys seemed to try hard enough though...Test hit Cena with the pumphandle and Cena kicked out...Test hit him with a boot and pulled him up after 2...gave him two powerbombs, the ref tried to stop him...he shoved the red...Cena gave him a small package and got a fast 3 count.

 

Rikishi vs. Kurt Angle

 

-My Lord was this a boring match! No mic work from Angle...plenty of headlock stall time...two times both guys stayed down for 9 counts...finish had Angle getting a DQ for a low blow and had him stomping Rikishi...then he got a chair and ran at the fat man full steam only to get the chair rammed in his face leading to the predictable stink face

 

INTERMISSION...time to pee...got a Stacey poster which I will look at when I touch myself...$2 for a coke

 

D-Von and Batista vs Mike Awesome and Sean O'Haire!

 

-D-von cut a great promo about the sinners of Flint and even told one big boobied girl that he's give her a private serman after the show...enjoyable match...O'haire has real shaggy hair now and Awesome seems to be bringing back the mullet...finish had Batista hitting Sean with the spinebuster for the finish...It was suppose to be Awesome and Kanyon, but I would have been happy either way.

 

Tag Title Match

Hardcore Holly & Big Valbowski vs. Lance Storm & Christian

 

-Christian did some mic work to get some heat going...after that it was an alright match...nothing groundbreaking, but good...Test ran out and booted Holly and Christian covered him for the finish...some heat got drawn away from the match cause Noble and Rico were signing autographs for people in an unpopulated area

 

Bra & Panties Match

Special referee: Stacy Keibler

Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie

 

-About what you'd expect...the f'ed up a couple of spots REALLY bad, but I give them points for trying...Torrie won in a quick match...after Stacey attacked her and then got depants herself.

 

MAIN EVENT

Edge vs Jericho

 

-Edge got an insane pop...Jericho did some micwork calling Edge and everyone in Flint assholes...pretty good match...Jericho hit Edge with a chair after the ref bumped, another ref came out and counted...Jericho only got a 2 so he knocked that ref out...then he goes to hit Edge again but Edge speared him for the finish...got on the mic...thanked everyone for coming...and did a 5 second pose.

 

Overall good show...I was glad I went

 

I counted 4 people getting ejected:

 

#1 fan throwing a cup of pop at Noble

#2 fan who kept trying to move closer from his cheap seat

#3 threw a cup at Edge

#4 jumped in the ring and hit the ropes after the show...he was dragged out my his neck.

 

 

No one got booed on the way to the ring.

 

Biggest heat:

 

#1 Team Canada after cutting a promo

#2 Jericho after cutting a promo

#3 D-von after cutting promo/Billy and Chuck after winning

 

Biggest pop:

 

#1 Edge...huge pop

#2 Rey Rey

#3 Hurricane

Nah, he's a New Yawker, if I remember right. Sounds like a pretty fun show though, but one burning question comes to mind:

 

WHERE WAS HOGAN?!

 

I hope B&C vs. Two out of Three Counts is an idea they use for TV. I think that'd be a pretty entertaining feud.
