Guest HoffmanHBK Report post Posted July 23, 2002 What did you all think? At least he's probably on the road to heeldom again.
Guest GenerationNever Report post Posted July 23, 2002 HoffmanHBK, long time no see. You may remember me as Justin Spike-O/Risk. How's WDI treating ya?
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 23, 2002 That opening part was awful, but the DX swerve was enjoyable. Maybe his ring work will return with his heel turn.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It was less annoying than usual. Then again he didn't wrestle...and I think the hole thing looked a little out of place when everything else was geared towards progressing towards something new...and these two are rehashing 1997. HHH as a heel is better than as an annoying face. But his in ring work needs to improve...especially if they are going to turn Eddy, Benoit, Booker and RVD loose like they did today. The move to Raw could leave HHH in the dust if he can't pick it up upon his in ring return.
Guest jester Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I was pleasantly surprised, and I was expecting the worst out of him, especially when Micheals came out. The DX segment actually had some life in it, unlike those boring "I am uh, the game, uh, and I am that uh damn uh good uh" crap he used to do. How they're going to do this feud though is beyond me. They can't wrestle. Even if HHH is back at 100%, he is going to have to handle Micheals like he's a piece of china (Chyna, heh heh) in the ring, otherwise he could put him in a wheelchair for good. jester
Guest mickberna Report post Posted July 23, 2002 HHH was entertaining, definitely. I'm trying to keep positive about this, so I'm going to say I'm looking forward to seeing HHH next week on Nitro. I mean... ah forget it. Also, HoffmanHBK... didn't you used to have a catchprase on the old boards?
Guest M Nyland Report post Posted July 23, 2002 As I've said....HHH jumped so high on that pedigree that if he wanted to knee HBK in the face he would probably hurdle him... that was the wierdest Pedigree ever....a roided up maniac and his boyfriend have a spat... Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 If they finally fight, which it looks to me that they MUST unless HBK has someone to "do his bidding", then HHH best be carefull as hell. It wouldn't look good upon HHH if HBK was seriously injured in their match, I can just imagine what people would think of him then, his fault or not.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 HHH as a heel will be good. I hope his in-ring work will improve so maybe some of this HHH hating will stop (though a lot of you have a problem with his backstage bullshit...which is understandable.) The opening segment was blah, but I marked out when he turned on HBK cause I really thought DX was doing to be around for one last time, but obvoiusly not. If HBK can do it, HHH/HBK @ Summerslam will be a dream match and I'm looking forward to it if they can pull it off. On a side note, I think after tonight DX should be dead and buried just like the nWo. Now, all they need to do is bring back the Horseman.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted July 23, 2002 But why did he turn on HBK? Can I get an explanation?
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 23, 2002 But why did he turn on HBK? Can I get an explanation? Because he's a heel and heels do mean things like that, that's why! I'm probably in the minority with this one, but I enjoyed the opening segment more than the DX tease and the weird Pedigree. That opening segment showed some pretty good character interaction, whereas the DX video was poorly edited (it bewildered me and made me slightly dizzy), and it wouldn't be a proper reunion even if it was for real because they would have been the only two members there. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Well....Rick Rude's dead and Chyna's a hose beast so I don't think they could've gotten all the original members there. No but why did he turn on Shawn? I mean it turned him heel but why? The only thing I can think of is a whiny "He was going to steal my spotlight" explanation. Oh and the editing on the DX video was always like that.....it's not new or anything...it's the same damn video only with scenes from Vengeance spliced in at the end. Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Well....Rick Rude's dead and Chyna's a hose beast so I don't think they could've gotten all the original members there. Well, maybe not all the original members, and I realize the only two guys they conceivably could have had were X-Pac and Billy, but just having those two, even if it was the two founders, is obviously little more than a shadow of the group's former glory. It was lame. Oh and the editing on the DX video was always like that.....it's not new or anything...it's the same damn video only with scenes from Vengeance spliced in at the end. Oh. That kinda sucks. I've seen DX matches and promos on compilation tapes, but I've never seen their entrance video. No but why did he turn on Shawn? I mean it turned him heel but why? The only thing I can think of is a whiny "He was going to steal my spotlight" explanation. I'm really not sure on that one either. The only thing I can think of is that HHH isn't sure how to deal with Bischoff, but wants to get on his good side, and thus is more than willing to do whatever it takes (like some would argue in real life), including turning on his own best friend, to get ahead and stay there. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Maybe Triple H turning was just a quick and easy way to get HBK off TV.........I mean he was only brought back basically to jumpstart the nWo angle as a non-wrestling entity. So when McMahon kills off the nWo we are left with HBK just kind of hanging around for no reason. Maybe the super pedigree was just as way to say GOODBYE HBK...... Guest HoffmanHBK Report post Posted July 23, 2002 A few things... 1. We don't KNOW Michaels' condition. While I'm inclined to agree that it's bad, we've certainly heard enough rumors about the HHH/HBK feud over the past few years to make a match more than feasible. Let's just hope Michaels, now a family man, doesn't get himself killed. Mike may also have the right idea -- maybe this was the "final sendoff" to both Michaels and the nWo. 2. Has anyone realized that we haven't had a real "cliffhanger" like this in ages? That's one step on the path to a better show, and it needs to be recognized as such. My mark friend on the phone tonight: "I can't wait to hear Triple H's reasons next week." This is good TV, and it's working. 3. I started this topic to see how many feathers I could rile...and I'm pleasantly surprised. Even BPS was brief and fair. 4. As I said a few days ago, it's nice to be remebered. I had a few catch phrases/old sigs at the ol' Smarkboard, one which I've brought back currently. The main schitck was being the I-C Champion of the Board...now I see ANGLESAULT running around with that title...you people DO realize he's a simpleton, right? In any case, my whole deal was that a) I'm not an idiot and b) I was part of the ill-fated gPc... but that's not here nor there. By the way, feel free to stop by WDI, all of you. I can say that, because if you're ghey I can ban you. HA!
Guest Steve J. Rogers Report post Posted July 23, 2002 No but why did he turn on Shawn? I mean it turned him heel but why? The only thing I can think of is a whiny "He was going to steal my spotlight" explanation. Simple, it was his way of saying FU to Shawn for almost leaving him high and dry after being the one that lured him back to Raw. Also a nice homage in a way to how HHH destroyed the original D-X with that Pedigree to X-Pac at WM XV, same effect, it looked like for at least one moment that the "band was back together" and BOOM! HHH turns on his friends Personally I think its a classic way to turn someone heel, sure its cliched and reeks of Vince Russo, but if its the right guy (i.e. HHH) it comes off as great fun Steve
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 23, 2002 i think hes gonna say that he made him lose to Taker at X-
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Sorry, but with the shitty Austin heel turn reason after WM, I highly doubt HHH will say anything reasonable. I never really 'got' why HBK was buddy-buddy with HHH over the post-wm 14 years anyways, after he got 'kicked out' of DX for 'dropping the ball'. In any case, all I have to say is this: A pointless 20 minute promo, is a pointless 20 minute promo. Heel or Face. Oh yeah and... "HHH heel turn, thanks for givin me the heads up so I could get the ole telescope and see you coming from miles away." I don't understand, the Wwf is trying to change but they still do the same shit they have been doing for years...
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I liked it. I thought we were gonna see DX for awile, though - which wouldnt be too bad. Game looks different, now. And he talks deeper. Wouldnt've been the same.
Guest Prince Paul Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Turning HHH heel is a start. Now if he can perform like he used to, it'll be better. If he's still the same HHH we've seen since 1/7/02, then we're back to square one.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted July 23, 2002 The only thing that pisses me off about the HHH/HBK segments is the logic. I mean, think about it: Bischoff tells HBK he has to manage HHH. HBK tries to walk out, but HHH convinces him to stay, only to turn on him later in the night. If HHH wanted nothing to do with HBK, he could have just let him walk and we would have never heard from him again. However, he convinced him to stick around so now we have to endure weeks of feuding between the two.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 23, 2002 That's because HHH is EVIL, and MANIPULATIVE, and INTENSE, Fook. Why would he just like HBK go when he can waste 10 minutes of TV time, re-use a tired angle, and spit more water? And to any one thinking HHH is 'coming back to form'... C'mon, you should have given up on that a long time ago. He is a 'smash-mouth' wrestler now.
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted July 23, 2002 He has gotten better, but alot of you bitter net marks refuse to realize it. EDIT: 1111~! Woo
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 23, 2002 i think hes gonna say that he made him lose to Taker at X-7 Yeah, he obviously read my Smartmarks Krew article... Reading this, was I the only one who saw this coming as soon as Michaels went looking for his smile? By mymeasurements, that's approximately 2.83 miles by which I saw this coming. Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 23, 2002 If anyone looked like they were turning last night it was Shawn. I was just waiting on the SCM and Big Show runs out and they talk about how you can't break up the NWO and crap. It was a good way to turn HHH IMO.
Guest Steve J. Rogers Report post Posted July 23, 2002 If anyone looked like they were turning last night it was Shawn. I was just waiting on the SCM and Big Show runs out and they talk about how you can't break up the NWO and crap. It was a good way to turn HHH IMO. I was thinking the SAME exact thing when Shawn took the mike first in the D-X promo. I thought any second Shawn was going to nail HHH with the SCM and rant on how D-X was HIS idea and how dare he steal all his glory and spotlight from WM 14 on and how D-X should have died the night he got screwed by Tyson and make some sort of analogy between Nash being the founder of the nWo asking Shawn to join, as opposed to HHH who was Shawn's lackey at the time of the original D-X trying to bring Shawn back. Or something to that effect Steve
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 23, 2002 The backstage portion of the promo did seem like a part from a soap opera. "So you're gonna leave, is that it. You're just going to walk out!" I was almost expecting them to start crying and hug and stuff...Powerful, powerful stuff there guys.
Guest jester Report post Posted July 23, 2002 No but why did he turn on Shawn? I mean it turned him heel but why? When it became a 4-man group they were just a bunch of kids acting immature. They never really caused any trouble like HHH/HBK did. And that pedigree at WMXV didn't kill the original DX. It killed DX v1.5. The original DX was Rick Rude, Chyna, HHH, and HBK. People seem to forget that the night after WM14 wasn't when the original DX was formed. Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I thought it was an excellent turn. For those of you who "saw it coming a mile away" maybe you should just stop watching wrestling because your psychic powers are hurting your enjoyment. HHH heel is a godsend and if he has to be on TV, he's much better as a heel. they nixed DX totally and the nWo is totally gone as well, be happy! I was shocked, as I didn't see it coming. There I was groaning about the DX coming back, and trying hard to mark out, but I couldn't. HHH skyrocketed that segment as far as I'm concerned.
