Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Another slow week, which is fine, cuz August is almost here. Dagon: Latest H.P. Lovecraft adaptation directed by Stuart (Re-Animator, From Beyond) Gordon. DVD is pretty loaded, and it's a fun horror film. Worth a rental at least. Hitch-Hike: Anchor Bay release of another classic "so bad it's good" Italian shocker. I love these flicks. Kung-Pow: Enter the Fist: Extremely stupid, yet funny, bizarro world kung-fu comedy from the warped mind of Steve Oedekerk. Not all the jokes work, but a lot do, and some of them are so strange they go over peoples heads. The DVD is LOADED with goodies, so if you like the film you can't lose with this disc. 'Till next week.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I went up to MAssachusettes a few months ago for a wedding. Took a day to drive down to Rhode Island and find Lovecraft's grave...also went to some spots that were supposed to inspire his stories (at least from what the annotated versions tell me) e found what would be Innsmouth (complete with the town hall that I read inspired the building for the order of Dagon)...and it was a pretty creepy little place in Mass. Was a pretty cool trip. I'm a big Lovecraft fan.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 bps, isn't it easy to see how Lovecraft came up with all of the odd shit he did by visiting Massachusetts and Rhode Island? Only time I'm ever proud to be from Massachusetts, I tells ya... And CHUD, about August...are you waiting for a certain Dan O'Bannon film much like every other b-movie fan? You're damn right it is. There was a light rain when we were in Mass...and it definitely added to the atmosphere. Rhode Island is an odd odd state. I tell ya, it only made Lovecraft's works that much more creepy after visiting the places that he walked. My all-time favorite author... DAMMIT!!! Now I want to go again!
