Guest SteveyP93 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 With seven pay per views down, what do you think the match of the year is...some of the best, or candidates I believe are... Jericho v. Rock - Royal Rumble Hogan v. Rock- WrestleMania Edge v. Angle - Backlash HHH v. Jericho - Judgment Day Jericho v. RVD - KOR (Jericho made me) RVD v. Guerrero - RAW RVD v. Guerrero - Judgment Day Taker v. Rock v. Angle - Vengeance Its really hard for me, and I didn't see the ladder match on RAW. In terms of heat, Hogan v. Rock is the winner, but I'm focusing more on the total package. At this point, I think it is a tie between the triple threat (yes, I liked it that much, even after 2 viewings and the Rumble title match). What do y'all think? Guest The Son of Sting Report post Posted July 23, 2002 For me there hasnt been anything i would call a MOTYC. I cant see a WWF match hitting ****3/4 or ***** this year.
Guest NazMistry Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Isn't it still July? Since when had the year ended and we could make such a judgement?
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Hogan v. Rock- WrestleMania Edge v. Angle - Backlash HHH v. Jericho - Judgment Day Jericho v. RVD - KOR (Jericho made me) RVD v. Guerrero - RAW RVD v. Guerrero - Judgment Day Taker v. Rock v. Angle - Vengeance IMO Best WWE match of the year is: Jericho v. Rock - Royal Rumble Angle Vs Edge close second. Both the RVD Vs Eddie PPV matches were dissapointing and Hogan and Rock wasn't even the best match at WrestleMania.(Flair/Taker was better)
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Rock/Hogan That was the most captivating match this year. Call me a mark, I don't give a shit, that match surprised the shit outta me and I had a great time watching it.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 If we are going by what match entertained us the most, I am goign to go with the Eddy vs. RVD ladder match. I was on my feet the entire time during it.

Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 RVD v. Eddy Guerrero MSG House Show Was that a normal match or gimmicked? Also, what, in star ratings, would you have gave it?
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted July 23, 2002 RVD v. Eddy Guerrero MSG House Show Was that a normal match or gimmicked? Also, what, in star ratings, would you have gave it? I wasn't there, but I know it was a Ladder Match. People say it was even better than their Raw Ladder match..
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It was a ladder match. Since I saw it at a house show its hard to say but I'd give it ****1/2-maybe *****. I loved the RVD-Eddy PPV matches. Dissapointments my ass
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It was better than RAW cause there wasn't really any blown spots and the ladder was a lot steadier. But no fan ran in.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It was a ladder match. Since I saw it at a house show its hard to say but I'd give it ****1/2-maybe *****. That sucks that its not available anywhere....I want to see it now!
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It was cool- Benoit ran in and tipped the ladder over and the crowd nearly rioted. Then Wooooooo! Flair ran in and started chopping the hell out of Benoit and put him in the figure four as the crowd exploded. Then RVD (I totally forget how) ended up winning and then post-match did the Razor Ramon visual by standing on the ladder holding the belt.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Was this ladder match after their Raw ladder match?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Yes- like a month after.

Guest SteveyP93 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I wish they'd release a RVD v. Guerrero compilation tape with every match they had, house show and televised, with wrestler commentary and thoughts. Wishful thinking yes, impossible yes, but its nice to day dream...
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 It'd be awesome, but keep dreaming Stevey...
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Oh snap that would own- They had 4 TV matches and the ladder match- throw on the Confidental features and BAM!- I'm buying
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I dont even need the Confidential features...although that would be nice...
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Id also say the MSG ladder match was my match of the year. I expected them to lay off a bit cause its a house show, but I was SO wrong. I'd give it **** 1/2. NIKO
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 23, 2002 RVD/Guerrero from Raw because I've never seen the MSG one. Although Lynn/Styles/Psicosis/Low Ki from NWA TNA blows any WWE match away.
Guest RicFlairGlory Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Let me first say I'm biased b/c I didnt get to see all of the afformentioned matches, however, due to my choice not to watch a ladder match since the last TLC, I decided to watch RVD/Eddy on RAW, and it was one of the best I've seen all year. Not MOTY, but I think it should be a candidate. If the MSG one was really THAT much better, you can replace that instead, but thats been one of my favs.... definetly my fav on RAW
Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Isn't it still July? Since when had the year ended and we could make such a judgement? Yes. I agree. But if you wanna just look back at the first 7 months or so of 2002, so be it. My pick for MOTY so far would have to be Rob Van Dam vs Eddy Guerrero Ladder Match from the 05-27 RAW. That match was probably my favorite thus far. Pure excitement and excellent athelicism made that match. 2 great workers, 1 great match. My hat went off to those guys that night. Despite that stupid fan running in, it was one of the best RAW matches ever.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Rock/Jericho from the Rumble is the only match this year I'd consider giving above 4 stars so far.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I haven't seen a match yet all this year that stands out really. Sure there have been some good matches on TV, but you know what I mean. I haven't see an "oh my God that was beautiful" match yet. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a match like that in quite some time. The last time that a match itself caused me to "mark out" was Hogan/Rocky but that was obviously not because of in-ring action. I don't really know, it shouldn't be this hard for me to think of something...
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Also, I don't really believe in giving "gimmick matchs" the prestige of being dubbed MOTY, as that just isn't my thing to do. I feel if a match requires a gimmick such as a ladder, cage, or some other aspect, then it shouldn't be in the running for MOTY in the first place.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Ummmmmmm ok. Who fucking cares what kind of match it is?????? If its an awesome match, its an awesome match.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Ummmmmmm ok. Who fucking cares what kind of match it is?????? If its an awesome match, its an awesome match. I care, as that is my opinion. I feel that for me to say a match was MOTY, it should be based on the two guys in the match alone. Having a bunch of sick bumps, odd leaps off of things, and other such things are very entertaining, but to me it shouldn't make for MOTY. In naming a MOTY, I think when you have matches of straight up wrestling in the same category with matches involving "gimmicks", it makes those "straight up" matches that much harder to match up to those sick bumps and the such. This is just my opinion, and my opinion says that "gimmick matches" should not be included in MOTY namings.
