Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I liked it *shrugs* I think people tend to go into a movie hoping to see EXACTLY what they got in the game, it seems to be that way with every video game movie or even comic book movie...my take on it is, if you want the game, GO PLAY THE GAME. these movies are BASED on these games, they're not direct translations of the game onto the movie screen...for example, Final Fantasy was great, IMO, but too many people expected to see Summons and Chocobos and shit and were letdown... You are 100% right sir. I have never seen Resident Evil (I am not a fan of the horror genre), but it is definitely true about Final Fantasy, and pretty much every comic book movie ever made. Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Kahran, you'd like Resident Evil then. It's an action movie with a decent, somewhat solid plot. On a sidenote, anybody else think that Grey was modeled after Ben Affleck in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within?

I don't agree, and my reasoning is thus: fans of the game would go see this movie because they're fans of the game. If you change EVERYTHING so that the two of them have hardly any connection at all, what's the point? Come on, we've seen dozens of sci-fi thrillers with people fighting nasty monsters in futuristic dungeons. If you're gonna make Resident Evil, make it Resident F'n Evil. You can change some of the details, Kahran is right, it shouldn't be the EXACT same thing. But when the movie is populated by characters who were in none of the games, in a facility that was in none of the games, escaping from a deadly AI computer's traps which were in none of the games... see my point? And I think Final Fantasy was the worst example I'd seen in a long time of this phenomenon. A bunch of commandoes with lasers shooting up aliens? WTF?! You're damn right I want Summons, Chocobos, airships, swords, magic, and an engineer named Cid. What was the point of even calling that movie "Final Fantasy" in the first place? Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted August 2, 2002 There was a Cid in the movie, but he was called Dr. Cid.
